The care provided here to Mum is simply exceptional.
We were greatly concerned when she was first admitted, but the incredible improvement in mum's mental health and so her demeanor is simply amazing.

My mother needed respite care for two weeks. From the initial contact by phone, Blakelands Lodge came over as friendly, caring and supportive.
The initial checks of weight and any bruising or bed sores etc came as a surprise but showed they wanted to care for Mum and make sure she was well looked after
during her stay. It gave me peace of mind. She was checked every hour, and they could tell me the time she got up, went to bed, what she had to drink and eat and when. Amazing.
Mum stayed in her room much of the time, her choice. She has dementia, is disabled and is deaf. Mixing with others is exhausting for her, so she avoids it. However, the room she had was lovely - like walking into a hotel room rather than a care home, but with all the benefits of the care home.
The staff, led by the manager, all care. They were lovely to Mum and very supportive of me, always having time to talk with me about mum. A very happy, lively and caring team.

Your immediate reaction is the wow factor, everywhere is so clean and welcoming. However, it is not the building but the staff that make this an exceptional care home.
Mum moved in May 2022 and settled in really well. I cannot speak highly enough of all the staff who show dedication, professionalism
and respect when dealing with residents and their families. I visit mum on numerous occasions each week and am always made to feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble. I constantly find mum happy and it is obvious that she has developed a trusting relationship with all those who work and care for her at the home. The home is well led and provides a stimulating environment in which mum is made to feel valued and loved.
Having cared for mum for the last five years I was very apprehensive about being able to find a suitable care home for her. I needn’t have worried, as after having done a lot of research into local care homes I can confidently say I found a real “gem” in Blakelands

My Nan has only recently come to the home. The team have been fantastic and very welcoming to her challenge of setting into a new environment. It is clear that nothing is “too much” for the staff at the home. All are very welcoming; and we all feel very comfortable knowing my Nan is safe and well looked
after here.

My auntie stayed here for some respite. I only visited a couple of times, but on both occasions, I was made very welcome and felt my auntie was being well looked after! I was shown around the care home and was so impressed with the facilities, cinema, library, tea room with outside balcony, hair salon,
sweet shop, and cocktail bar, everything has been thought of to make the residents feel at home. All the rooms have different coloured pastel shade doors with numbers so they look like a front door off a wide corridor. There is no clinical look at all. All staff are very caring and give time to sit and talk with the residents genuinely interested in talking to them about their family and lives. I was able to have lunch there with my cousin and auntie which felt like we were in a restaurant! Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The manager even took a photo for us and later came back with an A4 size print of it to give to my auntie for her room. I highly recommend Blakelands Lodge.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.953)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.953) out of 10 for Blakelands Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.953 for Blakelands Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (265 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 276 Ratings = 4.953
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Blakelands Lodge is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
