Blythe Rose is a luxury new 80-bed care home at Blythe Valley, designed and built to provide the very best dementia, advanced dementia and dementia nursing support across the region.

Design is guided by the award-winning charity, Hammond Care and the renowned Dementia Services Development Centre in Stirling, to create the best possible environment for those requiring professional memory care.

Featuring innovative lodges which house no more than 15, residents will receive quality, personalised care according to clinical need within an environment created to help individuals retain a sense of identity and autonomy.

Thoughtfully-designed communal areas include a 'high street' with its own shop, hairdresser, cinema and terrace café, even a 1960s style suite where families can spend time together with a loved one amidst familiar surroundings of days gone by.

Similarly, for residents who require nursing and residential care - respite or longer term, as a comfortable home for life - lodge communities offer close-knit and supportive communities, with a relaxed, family feel.

State-of-the-art Integrated technology is used unobtrusively throughout the home, so that everyone regardless of their specialist memory care, nursing or residential needs can be kept safe and well, whilst enjoying life.

My mum has been cared for exceptionally well by the care staff on Bentley Lodge.
There has been a recent change in staff on the unit and this has been really positive and care has improved.
Mum is shown great attention and I’ve never had reason to complain.

Mum has been resident here for almost a year. The staff could not be nicer and are always friendly.
Prior to coming to the home my mum was really sad and challenging to care for. I’ve seen a completely different side to her since coming here.
We knew it was the place for her when we saw the lodge
living design, enabling residents to do their own cooking, laundry and it felt like home.
Management are understanding and sort out any issues that arise.

My mum went into Blythe Rose Care Home for respite care while we looked for a facility local to us in the far north of England. The care she received was exemplary, the staff were approachable, engaging and took a genuine interest in my mum.
We were truly blown away with the what the facility offered
and felt that there approach in the care of the residents with memory loss was, intuitive and original in providing a family environment.

Whilst my dad was only in Blythe Rose Care Home for a short time and sadly passed away there, I really can’t speak highly enough of all the staff there for the compassion and care they showed and throughout Dad's last hours. I’m so happy that Dad was there when he passed, with privacy and in comfort,
rather than having been in hospital and honestly, the staff have all been so lovely throughout his stay and everyone I’ve met has always had a smile on their face.
The nurses were so caring with his nursing needs and the manager was so understanding on his final day as well. Whilst it was essentially an incredibly sad experience, it brings me great peace to know Dad was well looked after in his final few weeks and that I was able to be with him in his last moments.

My father-in-law moved into Blythe Rose in October 2022 and we could not be happier with the care he receives. After a lengthy stint in hospital and then respite care elsewhere, he was unable to walk independently and had lost a considerable amount of weight. A week or two into his move to Blythe Rose,
he was walking again, eating for England and smiling. Deciding that you need help to care for a loved one is heartbreaking and it has been a massive adjustment for the whole family but made so much easier by the professionalism and warmth every single member of staff has shown us all. My father in law has good days and bad days due to the dementia but we know that he is cared for and shown the love we aren't always there to give him every single day. The whole family would recommend Blythe Rose for anyone considering a care home for a loved one suffering from dementia.

My wife has been cared for by the staff at Blythe Rose Care Home for approximately six months following a serious stair fall at home resulting in multiple injuries.
She was transferred from the hospital to Blythe Rose in July 2022.
At first there were a few monir problems such as room changing and
diet requirements but these were soon resolved.
The staff have been caring and attentive to my wife's needs. My only suggestion is that more activity is introduced, particularly transportation to the outside world.

Despite initially having reservations about how my parents would accept becoming residents in a care home, they both appear to have settled in very well at Blythe Rose Care Home, which makes it so much easier for the family.
The staff are excellent and very caring, spending a lot of time getting to
know my parents individually, ensuring they receive the highest level of care and attention.
Overall, the facilities and service are excellent, and I have no difficulty recommending Blythe Rose Care Home.

Went to visit a friend with his wife, He's only recently been a resident but is very happy there and seemed to improve after a serious stroke some months ago. He needs to have physio to get him up and around and hopefully that can be arranged. We feel because he is so happy with you, he will make improvements,
we are positive!

My dad has been in the care home for a few months. As a family, we have been really pleased with the care he receives. Staff have taken time to get to know the individual things about him, and we can't thank them enough. He's not aggressive now and seems as happy as he can be, given that he's not able
to live in his own home.

I have only visited this care home once and I found it to be spotlessly clean with extremely friendly and caring staff. The whole ambience of the home exuded a welcoming caring environment. There appeared to be plenty of staff within the building who were all very approachable and professional in their

Blythe Rose is an exceptional care home. The home itself is lovely, homely, clean and the layout is really well designed with residents' needs in mind. The staff are amazing - very caring and compassionate. I searched high and low for a suitable care home and after one disastrous experience elsewhere,
came upon Blythe Rose. It is exceptionally well managed and the staff are really well trained in dealing with complex care needs. Moving my mother into a care home was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do but I am confident that she is well looked after and treated with compassion, dignity, and respect. I highly, highly recommend it.

Following a stroke, our mom now has Vascular Dementia. We chose Blythe Rose for respite care because of them specialising in Dementia. When we saw the great facilities and the set-up with the lodges we knew it was the right place. There are plenty of staff around to care for all Mom's needs, and it
feels like a home-from-home environment.
The manager put us at ease during our tour of the home and had an understanding of how difficult it was going to be. We had the guilt of Mom not wanting to go but were reassured this was normal behaviour and she would settle, which she did.
When we collected Mom, we knew she’d had a really lovely stay; the staff had built up a great rapport with her.
We have booked Mom in for further respite, and as her condition sadly deteriorates, would look at Blythe Rose eventually becoming her permanent home. Thank you to all the staff for the kindness and care shown to Mom during her stay. Nothing was too much trouble, and you made her feel very comfortable.

Barry

Barry Flanagan

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2024

My name is Barry Flanagan and I am proud to be the manager at Blythe Rose Dementia Care home.


I began working in the care industry during the 1980s and qualified as a nurse in 1991, subsequently working for the NHS and in both the private and voluntary sectors.


Over the past thirty years, I have primarily worked with residents who can present with challenges and in the last 12 years, dedicated my energy and experience to developing specialist care for adults with dementia or mental health conditions.


I am a qualified trainer and while always keen to develop my own knowledge and skills, also enjoy sharing my experiences and supporting and encouraging the people around me to meet their full potential.


My ambition for Blythe Rose Dementia Care is to make a real difference in the lives of the residents under my team’s care and empower them to maintain their identity, character and choices.


With strong values, passion and innovation at its heart, the home will truly be a centre of excellence – contributing to ongoing development, research and best care practices for people living with dementia, mental health and cognitive impairment.


Outside of work, I have a happy family life and enjoy many hobbies including football, reading and history.

Hello, my name is Jo and I am one of the Deputy Managers at Blythe Rose Dementia Care.


I have over 28 years of experience in health and social care, working in a range of services and covering a diversity of roles, from carer right through to care village Home Manager. A true carer at heart, I am passionate about helping each of our residents to live better lives and supporting the teams that I work with to be the very best they can be.


In my free time, I enjoy a busy home life and to relax, I like running, walking or going to the gym.

My name is Raj and I started my journey in health & social care as a part-time care assistant whilst pursuing a Masters degree in Management at the University of Warwick. I have amassed over 18 years of management experience in a wide array of Health & Social Care settings. Driven by continual learning, I have added to my qualifications along the way, notably gaining a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care and a Higher-Level Apprenticeship in General Adult Social Care & QMS ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor.


As Deputy Manager at Blythe Rose Dementia Care, my goal is to achieve an OUTSTANDING quality rating and help lead a specialist service in the treatment and care of individuals with dementia and mental health disorders and associated behaviour difficulties, by creating a ‘happy and happening’ home. A home where both residents and staff are ‘happy’ to be there; and ‘happening’ through its culture of constant innovation and improvements. These are holistic in approach, ranging from purposeful activities, a stimulating environment, technology advancements for the benefit of the home and continual learning and skills development for staff.


In my free time, I play cricket in the Sunday Arden League, Warwickshire County Division 3 and organise social events for a cricket club community. I also enjoy playing badminton, socialising, and travel.

Sammy Burgess

Having developed her career in the leisure industry, in 2022, Sammy made a career change into the care sector. Before joining MACC Care, she managed all admin staff within the care home group and was responsible for auditing, overseeing recruitment, health and safety, plus marketing.


Since joining Blythe Rose Specialist Dementia Care in June 2024, Sammy has spread the word in the community about the home’s specialist services. Tarun Kuruvilla

As part of its multi-disciplinary approach to helping individuals live well with dementia through person-centred care, Blythe Rose Dementia Care benefits from regular clinical visits along with the support, mentoring and guidance of Professor Tarun Kuruvilla.


After completing his medical training in 1996, Dr Kuruvilla went on to specialise in Psychiatry and qualified as a consultant in 2006. Since then, he has worked in old age psychiatry and as a Dementia Specialist for over 15 years.


Professor Kuruvilla runs memory clinics in Birmingham and the Cotswolds along with a regular dementia café session at Blythe Rose Dementia Care. His clinical interests are in early diagnosis of dementia and newer treatments for dementia.


Funded by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) as a Principal Investigator for clinical trials for newer treatments for dementia, Prof Kuruvilla is a clinical lead for Division 4 of the NIHR: West of England Clinical Research Network. A visiting Professor at the School of Health & Social Care, University of Gloucestershire, he has authored several peer-reviewed publications. When not practising, he continues to research and publish papers on memory loss and brain imaging. Professor Kuruvilla’s clinical interests also include memory clinics, early diagnosis and emerging treatments for Alzheimer’s disease & other dementias.
