Mum entered Liberton Brae nursing care home shortly after it had opened and since she moved there we have been highly impressed with :
1. The standard & quality of care she has received and the personal care she has received. Staff and leadership know her well and make every effort to listen to her
and provide the best care for her .
2. How leadership has a clear shared development plan and consequently put excellent systems and efficient , caring staff in place improvements to every aspect of care take place
3. How well staff and management listen to feedback / requests from focus groups and relatives and subsequently put into motion new ideas , activities , facilities such.
4. Efficiency of communication in all aspects of medical care and great organised of varied events .

My mother is well settled in the care home. Her dementia has worsened over the last year so she is less able to take part in activities and is frequently tired but enjoys the ones she participates in. There are lots of things going on in and out the care home run by a very enthusiastic team who seem
to know the residents well. Recently a team member has kindly made a playlist for Mum sent by my brother and myself and installed it on her music provider for when she is in her room. Mum is often awake at night making her tired in the morning and her needs for rest are taken on board. My brother and myself are always kept up to date with any changes and are very happy with the care provided at Liberton Brae.

My only concern is Bobbys Bar cleanliness could be improved. The tables and floor could be cleaner (more regular) lack of cleaning fluids and clean dish towels. Otherwise, this is a fantastic facility within the home which we use most days.
Reply from Elaine Wilson, Home Manager at Liberton BraeMany thanks for your feedback. Its much appreciated as it really helps us to improve and make the home a more comfortable place for our residents . We have discussed your comment about cleanliness in the bistro with the team and from yesterday we increased the number of times that our domestic team will clean this area. I hope that this will help. As you are aware Bobby's Bistro is self manned but we try to have a staff member assisting there for part of each day who will make sure that the tables/bistro are kept clean. The domestic team will leave out more dish towels however we cannot leave out cleaning products for health and safety reasons.

My mother has been a resident at Liberton Care Home since Jan 2025. The standard of care is extremely good and the modern spacious rooms are very pleasant and comfortable. The staff are very approachable and supportive not only to our mother but the whole family. I feel like we work together with
one goal to support our mum.
The activities team work very hard to keep residents moving and having fun as much as is possible.
I would definitely recommend Liberton Care Home as a caring, comfortable place for people to live or have respite care.
The home is very clean and mums rooms is spacious, always fresh with a beautiful outlook over the city.

All seems good with my father's care at Liberton Brae. My father has dementia and can be difficult at times and the staff have dealt with this sympathetically and professionally. Liberton Brae has good facilities and my dad's room is substantial. All my dealings with staff have been favourable.

I wanted to review this care home as I feel it deserves a positive review. The staff are amazing and very attentive to the residents. The place is spotless and welcoming. The residents are out of bed every day and have access to emergency buzzers, in my experience this is not always the case.

My father moved here a couple of months ago and I have nothing negative to say at all about Liberton Care Home. The staff are professional, kind and caring and helped settle my Dad in. Nothing is a problem and they go out of their way to make sure my Dad is cared for and happy. I have found all staff,
from senior nurses to the cleaners, to be pleasant and always go out of their way to say hello.

My niece was admitted to Liberton Care Home due to her previous care accommodation closing. She has settled into her new beautiful accommodation with ease. The staff from domestic, care and nursing have made her feel so welcome and appear to meet her every need. She has a busy schedule and again this
is thanks to the staff who interact constantly with the residents and encourage them to use all the activities and many communal areas on offer. It is a great relief to the family to see her so comfortable and cared for.

We were over for a visit to see our friend.
Liberton Brae is a lovely home with beautiful furnishings so clean and inviting for visitors. We came across from Fife to see her and there was an afternoon singalong with a lady singer and tombola as well. We thoroughly enjoyed singing along with everyone.
Just
glad she is happy there and settled, we will get over to see her as soon as I have recovered from my injury. Fabulous Staff as well.

My mum's been in Liberton care home since last September, I was really upset about her having to go but couldn't ask for a better place, my mum's well looked after always clean and tidy and her rooms spotless, the staff are brilliant all really nice and all care so much for my mum. If I'm worried about
anything I know a member of staff will have the answer. I wouldn't have her anywhere else.

Our Mum was a resident at Liberton Brae from June 2023 till she sadly died on 20 January 2024. From the start the care and devotion of the staff was exemplary, they went above and beyond at every opportunity to enhance Mum's quality of life and happiness. The rooms are fantastic bright and beautifully
decorated and furnished. There are lots of activities and everyone is encouraged to make the most of every day. The food is also brilliant and the chef would frequently make something especially for Mum to encourage her to eat. We viewed 20 care homes in the city before we visited Liberton Brae and it was by far the best. When it came to end-of-life care my sister and I were treated with such compassion and everything possible was done for Mum so she passed peacefully and with dignity. The staff had become like an extended family and some came to the funeral. This is a genuinely caring and lovely home in a gorgeous building. I could not recommend highly enough.

Dad has settled in so quickly to Liberton. He feels happy and very well looked after. The staff have been friendly, efficient and always there for anything he needs.

My aunt has been in the home for nearly a year now and has been so well cared for. Staff are engaging with patients and relatives and keeping family notified of any change in care which is a great relief for the family as we don’t reside in the area.
The activities team keep her busy and interested
with a wide variety of activities, painting, crafts and bingo which she enjoys.
The roof garden and outside pond are lovely to sit in and much enjoyed in the good weather. She loves getting her hair done at the in-house hairdresser. From the manager, to all members of staff they have provided a safe and very caring atmosphere.

From my first visit to look around I was very warmly welcomed by the manager and every single one of the staff. They are all so friendly and extremely knowledgeable and caring. The home is very clean and comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble, my mum is bed bound and staff will often spend at least
30 mins just chatting with her, having a laugh etc. I couldn’t wish for more.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.895)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.895) out of 10 for Liberton Brae is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 32 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.895 for Liberton Brae is calculated as follows: ( (347 Excellents x 5) + (30 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 381 Ratings = 4.895
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Liberton Brae is based on 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 32 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
