I was hesitant at first bringing Mum to the daycare centre, but I needn't have been. Mum loves coming and has made new friends. She is kept active and thoroughly enjoys the daily activities. The staff look after the daycare centre members very well, they adapt to everyone's needs. I don't know how the
staff think up the different activities they do.
I would have no hesitation in recommending the daycare centre to anyone.

Dad joined The Nolan Day Centre in April 2024, he had quite a poorly stage for about 12 months, but once on the mend Dad wanted to go out but wasn't up to anything too energetic and really enjoys his time at The Nolan Day Centre. He enjoys the company, entertainment and activities, it really has helped
with his dementia. Everybody is really friendly and happy he enjoys his lunch out.

I came here because I wanted to still have some independence but didn't want constantly to have to remember to pay the bills. I like the fact that there are activities but would like more! I like the fact that I can be independent to an extent and do like the garden.

This is probably the best Residential and Nursing care home in the area, all the staff are very attentive to not just the resident's needs but also the needs of the family. The rooms are spacious and well laid out.
It's a very modern purpose-built home set in very peaceful surroundings. There are
lots of activities which are very important for mental wellbeing.
I have found the management very approachable and they have an open door policy so any problems that might occur can be dealt with.
My dad is very well looked after and he loves being at Windmill Lodge, this home has everything from a cinema room to barbers/hairdressers to its very own library.
I can not recommend this home enough as a brilliant place with brilliant staff but do not take my word for it, go and have a look yourself, you won't be disappointed.
Reply from Sarah Messenger, Quality Manager at Windmill LodgeThank you so much for your review, We are really grateful, We love looking after your dad his well-being is top priority to all of us, Including the management, I will make sure that the staff and Manager Lyndsey are passed this review. I would thoroughly recommend Windmill Lodge, every step of the way has been handled professionally and more importantly when there has been a bump in the road the staff at Windmill have risen to the challenge. My mother is now relaxed, happy and looks 5 years younger than when she was first admitted
to Windmill 3 weeks ago, she still gets a little feisty during the "sundowning" period after 4 pm however the staff know exactly how to handle this situation.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (9.046)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (9.046) out of 10 for Windmill Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 34 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.339 for Windmill Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (247 Excellents x 5) + (85 Goods x 4) + (28 Satisfactorys x 3) + (10 Poors x 2) + (22 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 392 Ratings = 4.339
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.707 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Windmill Lodge is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 205 registered maximum number of service users is 41. 29 Positive Reviews ÷ 41 = 0.707
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Hello, my name is Hannah. I am the admissions nurse based at Windmill Lodge, Lytham St. Anne's.

My role is to support families from their enquiry stage, assessment process, through to admission of their loved ones, whether that is for respite or a more permanent residency. As part of this role, I also work with Professionals who can help relatives through the process and ensure a smooth and stress-free transition.

The rewarding nature of the role allows me to help relatives and loved ones through the most challenging decision they may take in relation to a loved one, and then see their loved one flourish here.
