Bere Grove Care Home in Horndean, near Portsmouth is a new purpose built home providing residential and dementia care for older people, as well as respite care.

Nutritious meals are freshly prepared in the home every day by trained chefs.

The home has an orangery lounge with garden access, a café with outdoor seating, dining rooms, a cinema, hair salon, a spa bathroom located on every floor of the home and a light and airy bar area with doors that open up on to a balcony.

There are also lots of virtual and live activities every day which include weekly trips out on the minibus to destinations of the residents choice.

For those living with dementia, there is a dedicated 'Memory Lane' area which offers, for example, an interior space with colours and bedrooms designed to help with issues associated with dementia. People living with dementia can also participate in a range of activities to help boost their well being.

The home itself is lovely, extremely well-looked after and well-laid out with big windows looking out onto shrubs and trees. The staff are all very helpful, cheerful and above all supportive in their care for my father. They also make time to tell me everything that I needed to know e.g. he is eating,
sleeping, etc. The meals were all excellent, and I was made very welcome at whatever time I visited.

Bere Grove has made Mum feel extremely welcome since she moved in last month. Every member of staff is excellent. Nothing is too much trouble, and their warmth has made Mum feel valued and allowed me to relax about Mum's safety. Mum is thriving already after a long hospital stay due to excellent care
and attention and bespoke food and drink to aid Mum's recovery and general health. Thank you, Bere Grove.

My grandparents stay here and I have been to visit a couple of times and can see how amazing and caring the staff are. We came to visit for the Children In Need quiz and absolutely lovely, the staff were very kind and helpful, and we enjoyed a lovely evening!

After my hip replacement surgery, I needed a place where I could feel at home with the aftercare required.
After visiting a number of properties I had almost given up to find the special place.
One call to a friend, who had visited Bere Grove Care Home a few days earlier, was the answer to prayers.
I visited and met a member of staff who was amazing in sharing her experience when she had the same procedure, immediately I felt in good hands
Following a careful assessment of my condition in hospital by the assistant manager, I checked in, best thing I did.
Everyone was just so kind, helpful and caring, I can’t thank the management of Bere Grove and their amazing team enough.

We needed respite care for my father for two weeks at very short notice. All at Bere Grice were brilliant, from our initial contact to the excellent care given throughout his stay. The standard of his room was super, and the staff was very attentive whilst giving him his own space. The food was outstanding,
and I was able to have weekend meals with him. Nothing was too much trouble.
Highly recommended.

This is such a delightful care home. Being new, there are some events/rooms still being set up but I am amazed at how much in the way of activities that are already available for a small number of residents. The activities are varied and suit all tastes and my parents seem to be enjoying partaking in
most of them.
We enjoyed a lunch with the family in the private dining room and the whole experience was superb, like going out to a restaurant without having to travel anywhere! I am very happy my parents have chosen to live here.

I was given every help in moving in which made me feel very welcome. Once settled in, the carers are very thoughtful and nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent, the chefs certainly know how to test your taste buds. There is always an activity to do in the afternoons, so there is always something
interesting to do.
So altogether, I am very happy.

My father-in-law moved in at the start of October, and the improvement We have seen in him is beyond belief. The care he receives is second to none, we had a three course Sunday lunch with him and the food was very nice! Alot better than He was served in his previous care home. We are made to feel very
welcome. They have a lovely cafe area where tea/coffee and cake are always available.
Dad has access to the lovely garden via his own room, where he can have a walk safely, and enjoy the peaceful sound of the birds chirping in a lovely country setting.
The staff are always keen to get him engaged in activities, but never forced to.
The staff have a true passion for caring, rather than it just being a job.


Value for money? compared to how he was in his previous care home, I would say it is worth it, seeing how happy he is now.

We have seen a massive improvement in Dad's overall happiness and wellbeing since He moved to Bere Grove from a previous care home.
I cannot express how much of a relief it is for me to know that he is receiving the best care.
The staff always let hs know what is going on with Dad, and keep us up
to date with his activities, which is new for Us as His previous care home never bothered to let us know anything.


Oh my god, the food, the cakes, and the hospitality is amazing, and we are always made to feel welcome.


Dad`s room is very spacious and always clean, as is the rest of the home. He is able to walk around freely around the home, inside and out, which he was not allowed to do in his previous home.


I am a very happy person knowing my dad has the best care team to look after Him.

Bere Grove is a beautiful care home, set on a country lane near Horndean. The gardens are well-kept, with lots of seating areas for residents and families. The interior is stunning and tastefully decorated. My mum went in for emergency respite/permanent stay, and the manager was so helpful and reassuring;
she put my mind at rest, and nothing was too much trouble. All the staff are lovely and seem very happy; they are very helpful and welcoming. The facilities are exceptional, with a fantastic coffee shop, cinema room, activities room, hair salon and much more! Residents get the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities based around what they like doing. I would not hesitate to recommend Bere Grove to anyone considering care for a loved one.
