Barchester Pinetree Care Home has a Review Score of 9.7 (9.711) out of 10, based on 46 reviews in the last 2 years.
Over all time Barchester Pinetree Care Home has 46 reviews.
She found it impossible to eat in the dining room as she was not made welcome by other residents and the staff did not intervene to help make her feel welcome. The food was barely OK and often served lukewarm. I understand food is brought in and not always prepared and cooked on the premises as they told us it was.
I have read other reviews and it appears respite guests get inferior care than other residents.
We received a letter from them with 14 apologies and a refund on our charges - this speaks volumes
Thanks for taking the time to leave your review. A thorough investigation has taken place into all concerns raised about your mother-in-law's time at Pinetree Care Home, we're sorry that some of our findings do not align with how your mother-in-law found her experience. If you feel like any matters...
My father fell and broke his femur in Pinetree while on respite care. An ambulance was called but family members found him alone on the bathroom floor. 3 months on and Barchester Group have not provided copies of their internal procedures for when there is a fall. As the staff ratio was 2 carers to 18 dementia patients on the 10th September 2025 , the policy seems to be leave them alone. My father died two weeks later. Poor reviews appear to be edited out as the family posted about this in October and it has vanished .
Thanks for taking the time to leave your review, were sorry to learn you were unhappy with your experience with Pinetree Care Home. We understand that your concerns were raised with the home, and weve been advised that a meeting took place with family for the findings to be discussed and at that...
There are not enough caring staff but those that I did see were very pleasant and did their best.
The bedding was very poor quality.
There was only one real coffee machine on the ground floor and instead of a few expensive ornaments a coffee machine is required on each floor. Also not having admin staff in reception at the weekends meant residents and visitors couldn't get in or out without a long wait or a hunt for a carer.
The worst thing that happened to me was a young male carer opening the bathroom door while I was on the toilet and blatantly talking to me. I was truly shocked.
Thanks for taking the time to leave your review. We're sorry you were unhappy with your experience at Pinetree Care Home and we're grateful to you for sharing your feedback with us. We've reached out to the home team who have confirmed you hadn't raised yours concerns directly with the General...
From the outside of the property I knew it would be nice inside as I had seen the property built on my daily commute. But the inside is better than I had anticipated. Every attention to detail has been thought of, decor, furnishings and ornaments of a high quality which make it feel like a 5* hotel but at the same time very homely and inviting. The staff are caring and attentive with nothing too much trouble. My Father In Law is currently in respite but I do believe he will be back to Pinetree to live out the final chapter of his life, as will I when the time comes. I believe that Pinetree is not a care home, it is a home you can live and be cared for, but have freedom if you still want it. As close to perfection as you could get.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are so pleased you are happy and we love looking after your father-In-Law and very much look forward to having him back. Please pop along for a cup of tea and stay in touch.
As a family we couldn't be more pleased with how the staff at Pinetree look after my nan. The staff are personable and caring, ensuring nan is looked after to the highest standard. We love the facilities and know that nan until be very happy here for a long time to come.
After shortlisting five different care facilities, Pinetree was unquestionably the clear choice for Dad. The staff demonstrate exceptional warmth, professionalism, and genuine care that creates a truly positive and encouraging environment for all residents. Dad's walking has improved significantly, he's discovered a love of painting, and enjoys the beautiful garden. The organized visits and special celebrations are wonderfully planned-the VE Day commemorations were particularly moving. We couldn't be happier with our choice of Pinetree, the combination of excellent facilities, great management, compassionate staff, engaging activities, quality food, and individualized care creates an environment where residents don't just receive care-they truly thrive and live fulfilling lives. We would wholeheartedly recommend Pinetree to any family seeking exceptional care for their loved one. The peace of mind we have knowing Dad is in such capable, caring hands is invaluable.
Perfection does NOT need a review in my opinion.
Found all the staff to be friendly, welcoming and supportive of my elderly dad and his medical conditions. Very understanding of my questions as his daughter and supportive of me also. Dad found his room and the food excellent, pleasant stay and enjoyed chatting with staff and residents staff diligent regarding dad's medication administration, also going above and beyond to ensure his comfort. Dad did worry about his laundry but was reassured when it arrived back clean the following day, would recommend Pinetree for excellent 24 hour care.
Dad is always kept occupied, treated with love and respect. This is more important than facilities but they are excellent as well. Everyone is trying so hard, thats all you can ask for. Thank you.
Her ensuite room is beautiful with the bonus of direct access to a furnished garden. The personal care received is thoughtful and kind, with a genuine concern for her well-being. The cleanliness of the home is excellent, its a bright and welcoming environment. Food is another highlight. It's excellent in its variety and quality, the chef is accommodating, happily fulfilling Mum's personal requests, like her beloved cheese on toast. What sets Pinetree apart is the staff. They are amazing. They not only provide care for Mum, but also care for the family. They are aware of the stress families go through during this transition and give invaluable support. Overall the decor is beautiful, but more importantly, the staff always have time for interaction. Pinetree has improved both our lives, I am grateful for the care and compassion they provide.
The patience and kindness of all the staff shines through.
Thank you for your lovely words. Its a pleasure to look after your lovely dad.
My father-in-law was at the home for two weeks after being discharged from hospital. His confidence in walking and self caring started to improve immediately. The staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble and there is always someone available to answer any queries. I would like to thank all the staff on behalf of my father-in-law, my husband and myself for all the care he received whilst at the home.
My mother entered Pinetree Care Home after a long period of me living full time with her at home with Alzheimer's disease. I had visited several other homes in the area. On entering Pinetree the warm welcome and superb facilities immediately stood out. My mother has been resident there for 3 months and I can say that the level of care, kindness and patience has been excellent. She has settled very well and is eating well and enjoying the activities on offer.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are very lucky to be looking after your lovely mum.
Allowing dad to join in their daily activities months before moving in was amazing creating familiarity with carers ,residents and environment ahead of moving in.
A welcoming home with staff who go that extra mile to allay any fears or anxious feelings that residents or their families may have.
All staff take an interest and nothing is too much trouble .
Exceptional amenities and cleanliness with a friendly atmosphere that tries very hard to ensure everyone's needs are catered for. They take time to get to know residents on an individual basis offering understanding and encouragement organising group activities around their interests making it fun
I feel very confident with this amazing team that 'care' about their residents to recommend Pinetree to anyone contemplating respite or permanent care for a loved one.
Thank you for your very kind words, we are thrilled that you are so happy your dad is with us and living such a for filled life.
My husband was in respite for eighteen days to give me a break. He was up every night so I never got a night's rest - I was very happy to put him in Barchester Pinetree Care Home, Rayleigh. It took him a day or so to settle down. Mainly, he was convinced he had to go to work, he is 87 years old. I was very impressed with the care he received. The Pinetree is like a five-star hotel, beautiful. I would certainly use it again for respite if I need it. Unfortunately, having dementia, I don't think he realised how well he was looked after but I did.
Thank you so much for your kind review and we are so pleased you would come back. It was a complete pleasure.
We feel that she has settled well and is very happy.
Thak you for your kind review, we are so very happy that your aunt is settled and enjoying her new life.
I can't wait until I'm over 65 so I can come here myself!
Thank you for sending us your lovely review. We are so pleased that your mum enjoyed her stay with us and we would love t see her again
My aunt stayed at the care home for a couple of weeks. The place is beautifuland all the staff from the cleaners to nurses and management have a fantastic work ethic. They kept my aunt cheery from the moment she came to stay and she would stay again. Once again, I would like to thank you for the care she was given.
The Barchester Pinetree Care Home is like a five star hotel. The home is decorated to a high standard. It's got everything onsite, i.e a hair salon, a cinema room, private dining and being able to help yourself to refreshments. There's entertainment and activities to keep the residents active on a regular basis. All the staff are lovely and welcoming to the residents and families that visit, its like one big happy family. The only problem I had, was I arranged private dining for my mum and had to get in contact with them three times, due to them not contacting me back. In the end it was all sorted and the room was done out lovely and we enjoyed the food. The lady staff member couldn't do enough.
We love looking after your lovely mum and are really happy that she is enjoying her life with us here
Importantly, we can now relax and start to get our life back as we can relax knowing that our brother/brother-in-law, the resident, is looked after so well and he is happy and delighted with his care and having positive, happy staff looking after him.
Thank you so much for your time and kind words when you left us this review. We are so happy you are happy.

Hi, my name is Becky, and I am the home administrator at Pinetree.
I am so thrilled to be the first point of contact as you visit Pinetree. I am dedicated to giving the best service to both our residents, their families and visitors. Pinetree has family values that create a home-like atmosphere.
I have a wealth of experience in customer service, and I'm so lucky to be able to be part of a team that combines that along with a passion for caring.
Please come and say hi when you visit

Hi, my name is Steve I’m the Head of Maintenance here at Pinetree.
I have been working in the maintenance industry for most of my working life, a family run locally based business specialising in property maintenance. In 2020 I decided to have a change in industry whilst still continuing to do what I enjoy. An opportunity arose for me to join an established care home environment and I jumped at the chance of learning new skills.
Working in such a rewarding environment has meant a lot to me and getting to know residents and their families is a highlight of my job role.
Understanding the running of the building along with person-centred needs and being available to the residents and their requests means I can fully help the process of the move into care.
I am very approachable and will always listen to the needs of residents and their families to ensure that Pinetree is a home environment.
I am very excited about this next chapter and being part of the team to open Pinetree. Please do feel free to chat with me about all your maintenance queries, I’m always on hand to help.

Hi, my name is Loretta
I am very excited about being part of the Pinetree team. I am in a privileged position to be able to offer two levels of service. You will find me at reception where I will be part of the team being your first port of call answering any questions you may have and also part of the care team looking after residents with whatever care needs they may have.
I have been a carer for the most part of my working life and it’s my passion. I love seeing how you can change someone’s life by giving them the care they need that is tailored to them specifically.
Interacting with residents, getting to know them on a personal level and understanding them is so incredibly important to me and I will always go the extra mile for them and their loved ones.
Please do feel free to stop me for a chat and a cup of tea.

I joined the Pinetree Care Home family in January 2026, bringing with me over 25 years of experience in the care sector and more than two decades in management. Throughout my career, I have been dedicated to ensuring that every resident receives exceptional care and is supported to live life to the fullest.
At Pinetree, my focus is on creating a warm, inclusive, and empowering environment where residents feel valued, respected, and truly at home. I am extremely blessed to work alongside an amazing and committed team that shares my passion for delivering outstanding care. Together, we strive to make every day meaningful, joyful, and enriching for those who live with us.
I believe strongly in being approachable and available. My door is always open to residents, families, and staff, because great care is built on communication, trust, and working together as one Pinetree family.
Supporting our residents to live rich, purposeful, and fulfilling lives is not just part of my role—it is what inspires me every day.
