Review from Rhianon G (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 26 November 2025 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

The home is very well maintained, clean, and all rooms are very spacious. My grandmother is very independent, but all the care staff and nurses are respectful of this and take things at my nan's pace. She feels respected and happy in her environment. She's very happy with the fresh home cooked food she has daily.

Overall Experience
I am overwhelmed by the amount of care my uncle has received in just a short time being here. All the staff are amazing, they genuinely go out of their way to make sure that you are happy and that your needs are met.

The standards of care is very high and all the staff in the care home treat everyone with respect, compassion and the quality of standards since throughout the home. I can't recommend this home enough and I believe its down to all the people (team) who make it work. It has 5 stars from me.

Overall Experience
My uncle is a new resident of St Brelades. I have been acting on his behalf and from the very first visit I have been impressed with the care home and its facilities but even more so by every member of the management and caring staff.
From the morning he moved in and in every visit since I have seen such a change in my Uncle. I haven't heard him laugh for quite some time and now he is laughing and smiling each time I visit. St Brelades is so welcoming and friendly. I look forward to my visits and to see how my uncle interacts with his carers. As the care home is newly opened the only matter I cannot comment comprehensively on at this stage is activities but I have no reason to doubt they will prove to be great for the residents.
On the administrative side all my dealings have been dealt with so efficiently.

I would have no hesitation in recommending St Brelades.

Eileen Coyle-Jones
Eileen Coyle-JonesJob Title:Registered ManagerJoined: 2025
Eileen is a Registered Nurse who has worked in care of the older person for the past 30 years. She is originally from Ireland and came to Wales to do her nursing training and made it her home.
She has worked as a home manager for many years before moving into governance and as a Regional Director with many years experience commissioning new builds in the West London Area.
Eileen has a passion for person-centred care and ensuring that the team spend time getting to know the person that needs our support, meeting their outcomes and helping to fulfil any dreams and wishes we are never too old for a bucket list. Some of her proudest moments are Sky Diving with a 90 year old to raise money for Marie Curie and accompanying a resident to Rome to have a blessing from the late Pope Francis.

One of Eileen's dreams is to commission a care home, so when the opportunity to take the role at St Brelades she jumped at the chance.

Lombe Mwanza
Lombe MwanzaJob Title:Deputy ManagerJoined: 2025

Lombe is a Registered General Nurse who has worked in elderly care for over 20 years.

She is originally from Zambia in Central Africa. Lombe relocated to Swansea, Wales, in 2005 to practice as a Registered nurse.

Lombe has worked both as Clinical Lead and Home Manager in her career in the care home sector.

Lombe is a dedicated nurse with a great passion for person-centred holistic care; she has demonstrated this passion throughout her years of nursing. She is delighted to join and help lead a team that shares her values and to ensure St Brelades is that home where residents can make their dreams happen and live their best lives.

Rose Williams
Rose WilliamsJob Title:Head CookJoined: 2025

Rose is originally from Dublin, Ireland; she has been living in the UK for over 30 years. Rose has more than 30 years of experience in hospitality and cooking, and she considers herself very lucky to have spent most of her life doing what she loves - working with food and making people feel cared for through good, homemade, nutritious cooking.

To be the Head Cook at St Brelades is incredibly special to Rose; it’s not just about preparing meals, it’s about bringing comfort, sparking memories, and creating moments of joy for the residents. Her focus is to cook nutritious, well-balanced meals to help keep everyone healthy and also give them the occasional treat (because a little indulgence now and then is just as important).

Rose enjoys getting to know the residents and finding out their favourite dishes; for her, it’s a real privilege to be part of their daily lives. She takes great satisfaction in knowing that families can feel reassured that their loved ones are being well looked after and enjoying mealtimes.

For Rose, food is a way of showing care and connection. "There’s nothing better than seeing someone smile over a meal you’ve made. Helping to make mealtimes something they truly look forward to is one of the best parts of my day."

Kirsty Dixon
Kirsty DixonJob Title:Head HousekeeperJoined: 2025

Kirsty became the Head Housekeeper at St Brelades because what is important to her is knowing that what she does each day makes a real difference to people’s lives. For Kirsty, it’s not just about keeping things clean; it’s about creating a homely, welcoming space where the residents feel comfortable and cared for.

At St Brelade’s, we take pride in upholding the highest standards, making sure every room and shared space is somewhere the residents, staff and visitors truly feel at home. It means a lot to know that the little details our team looks after help to bring comfort and peace of mind, not just to those who live here, but also to relatives to know that their loved ones really are in the best place.

Kirsty has spent many years as part of housekeeping teams working in industry, catering and schools. She is fully trained in the standards needed in a care home, including the importance of infection control.

In her spare time, she loves nothing more than running, exercising and exploring South Wales with her very cute dog Norman.

Karen Davies
Karen DaviesJob Title:Home AdministratorJoined: 2025

Karen has 22 years of experience working as an administrator in a care home. Her welcoming personality is what makes her a very special person and perfect in that front-of-house role at St Brelades. She loves welcoming new residents and their families to their new home.

In her past role, she was part of ensuring that residents could live their best lives, driving the mini bus to enable that vital part of ensuring that residents keep in touch with the wider community. She is very proud of supporting one resident who was bed-bound to be able to visit the Gnoll Park to meet her son for a picnic, making her and his dreams come true.

Karen is really proud of having joined a local running club, never having run before, to complete the Cardiff Half Marathon.

She has lived in Cimla for all her life and is thrilled to join the team at St Brelades
