I bring a wealth of technical and management experience to my role at Elderwood House, having spent years running my own successful property management business specialising in HMO portfolios. My background spans the entire life cycle of property care, from overseeing full-scale building refurbishments and structural maintenance to achieving a Level 3 qualification in Property Management.

In addition to my management background, I am a fully qualified plumber, a certified Air Source Heat Pump engineer, and a registered member of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (MCIPHE). This deep mechanical and systems expertise allows me to manage the home’s infrastructure at the highest possible standard, ensuring a safe, efficient, and comfortable environment for everyone on site.

I chose to bring my skills to Barchester Healthcare because I wanted a role where I could truly give back. Maintaining a care facility isn't just about managing a building; it is about providing a safe, reliable, and welcoming home for our residents, which gives me great professional satisfaction.

Outside of work, I stay highly active and enjoy playing golf and tennis, spending time at the gym, and following all things sports. Most of all, I love keeping busy raising my two young boys. Read less

I’m Joseph Sackett, a locally raised chef from the village of Hawley, with over 28 years of experience in catering, including working internationally and alongside renowned chefs on high-profile culinary events. My career has taken me through a wide range of kitchens, from fine dining to large-scale hospitality, shaping my passion for quality food, nutrition, and creating meaningful dining experiences.

My love for cooking began at home with my nan, who remains my biggest inspiration. She taught me that food is about care, comfort, and bringing people together—values that have stayed with me throughout my career and are at the heart of everything I do today.

I’m a very open and approachable person who enjoys getting to know people and sharing life stories. I believe mealtimes should be something to look forward to, and I’m excited to bring a little extra warmth, creativity, and enjoyment to my role here.

Outside of work, I enjoy keeping fit, spending time outdoors, and appreciating nature and wildlife. For me, cooking has always been a pleasure—never a chore—and I look forward to sharing that passion with everyone here. Read less

I joined the care sector in 2018, starting in community care, and since 2019 I have been working in a nursing home environment.

Over the years, I have developed my knowledge and skills day by day, working both as a Care Assistant and as a Senior Care Assistant. I am confident working alongside other professionals such as GPs, nurses, general managers, health visitors, dietitians and other professionals, as well as my whole team of care assistants.

I joined Barchester around two years ago as a Kitchen Assistant at one of our Bromley homes. Since then, I’ve worked hard to develop my skills and have been proud to progress into my current role as Second Chef.

One of the things I enjoy most is preparing fresh, home-cooked meals that residents genuinely look forward to. Food is such an important part of the day—it brings people together, creates conversation and can evoke wonderful memories. Knowing that something I’ve cooked can put a smile on someone’s face makes my job incredibly rewarding.

I love working in the care sector. Before beginning my career in care, I worked in retail and customer service, but I soon realised that nothing compares to the fulfilment of making a genuine difference to someone’s day.

As a mother of three, I understand the importance of caring for others. Looking after both of my parents before they passed away gave me a deep appreciation of the incredible work carers do every day.

That experience strengthened my passion for providing the same comfort, respect and reassurance to the people I now care for.
