Very good no worries with anything mum looked after with care and love till the end the staff could not have been better we as family can not thank them enough mum was confused but was helped to eat and drink the menu was always very good
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Mum was loved by us all at the home & will be missed. I will pass your kind comments to the care team.
It was a very difficult decision to put Mum into care but the transition was handled with professionalism and sensitivity by all the staff at Riverside.
I receive regular updates from the manager Sophie who is friendly and approachable, nothing is too much trouble.
It is very reassuring to know that mum is being well cared for by such lovely staff.
Thank you for taking your time to leave a review of the home. We understand that the process & transition to a care home can be a difficult time for families and I am pleased to hear that this process has ben supported by the staff at the home. I will pass your comments on to the staff team.
The staff have done a great job in looking after her. I've found them to be friendly, professional & quick in attending to issues as they arise. I'm always kept informed of my mother's situation, even on Christmas Day.
My mother praises the food & amenities, & because of her condition, she believes she's holidaying in an all-inclusive hotel.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Riverside for someone in my mother's position. Well done to all the staff.
Thank you for leaving a review for the home. Such lovely comments that I will pass onto the staff team. Our aim is to provide the best care for our residents in a homely environment. If mum believes she is enjoying an all inclusive we are really achieving our goals. Thank you again.
My husband has been a resident for a little over a year now , I find the staff to be extremely friendly, caring, and nothing is too much bother. I was really reluctant are first to let my husband go into any care facility but with his Alziemers progressing, and my ill health i didn't really have alot of choice, so glad he's in Riverside, my husband receives all the care he needs. A big thankyou to all the staff and a Happy New Year.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review & sharing your experience. Your lovely comments will be passed on to the care team. Happy New Year to you too!
Very welcoming staff that really care for my Mum's needs. She has a lovely en-suite room which is kept clean and tidy and is well maintained. She is always encouraged to join in the many activities that take place, almost on a daily basis. We are always made welcome when we visit and are kept in the loop with any decisions or information regarding my Mum.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review & sharing your experience. Your lovely comments will be passed on to the care team.
But what I really do want to say is that the staff here are so lovely and so kind in what is obviously a difficult job. They are on the ball with everything, ccmpassionate with family as well as residents, and always cheerful without being overbearing. Mum's room is lovely (she loves the windows) and having an en-suite is so good. Thank you so very much to everyone!

I'd just like to say that Riverside and the all the staff have been an absolute godsend with mum. Mum's been there since December last year after a stressful year with her health, and I can honestly say the staff are absolutely amazing. Dad visits mum at the same time every day and they make sure she's ready in the conservatory for his visit (he's almost a resident!) Every time I visit (each week) they are always so cheerful and welcoming. They show such care and kindness towards mum and the other residents, and have such rapport with them, and even join in with some of the activities they have, especially singing and dancing along to the regular entertainment. The care home itself is ideal, all the rooms have en-suite, and it just feels so light and roomy, and always clean. I know I speak for my whole family, but we honestly can't praise the home and especially the staff enough - you're all stars and thank you for your continuing care.
Thank you for taking the time to leave such a wonderful review. We try our best to create the most homely environment for the residents and any extended family, who are always welcome in our home. It has been really nice for us that the family have been having so much involvement in the...
I think the care my aunty receives is first class. All the staff are really friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. I know sometimes they are under pressure it is a very hard job but very much appreciated. They have been very understanding when I have gone to them with personal family problems
Thank you for taking the time to leave the home a review. Thank you for your kind comments, I will pass these on to the staff team. We have a wonderful team of caring individuals and you should feel you can ask them anything.
I always feel welcome like its one big family. I gave a 4* for cleanliness because its clean but a very tired building. Does that matter, not really but would be nice to have a spruce up.
If I ever have a query I always receive a speedy reply. There is a hairdresser available each week. An optician visits regular. A GP and more. Recently I witnessed a resident become unwell where an ambulance was called, the staff were amazing everyone involved knew their role, family were contacted immediately. No one was in a panic and dignity was given at all times.
I would highly recommend this 'home' to anyone.
Geoff now wants to make this his permanent home 'its like been on holiday!'
Thank you for taking the time to complete a review for the home. Our staff in the home work so hard to make the environment a happy and safe one for the residents to enjoy their time with us, so it's great to hear that your brother would love to stay with us permanently. We have an ongoing...
I cannot rate Derwent has more highly. My mother entered end-of-life care and was not expected to live more than a few weeks. She actually survived for 19 months. The staff were extremely caring and the facilities excellent. They really did care and made her more comfortable than I could wish for. Ten out of ten in every respect.
Thank you for taking the time to complete a review of the home. It has been an absolute pleasure to have your mum at Riverside & care for her. I will pass your kind comments and appreciation onto the care team.
The more suitable part failed to meet these needs too with activities only 2 days of the week (thus worsening dementia traits) lack of staff to support residents as well as family members (made to feel uneasy asking questions re care because we were never consulted in the devising of his care plan- struggling to even get access to visit) having to find and ask a member of staff to let you out was inconvenient as was waiting outside for lengths of time to be let in- the receptionist worked Mon-Fri and carried both halves of the home. No exercise caused weight gain and mobility issues and required new clothes and a wheelchair to be purchased. Lack of medical supplies for dads needs as the home failed to register him on the prescription service, only discovered by having to take dad out of home on weekends to give him stimulation.
After 4 months the manager informed us and the social worker that not only could not keep him safe due to the road at the front and the river at the back he was annoying other residents with his repetition (a symptom of the disease worsened by inadequate care and support). A blessing for us now though as dad resides in a fabulous home like a luxury hotel (not just the next step up from a hospital) with amazing, knowledgeable staff, where nothing is too much trouble and we are kept fully in the loop all of the time regarding his care.
Dad was placed at our care home by social services after a visit to the hospital; it clearly stated on his clinical notes that Dad had Dementia and should not be near open staircases which we are bound to recognise. This was, therefore, a deciding factor to where his room was situated within the...

I wouldnt recommended this place to anyone they are short staffed how can residents be cared for when theres not enough staff im angry at the way she's made to pull herself up when sat in a very low chair.

Enjoy your chocolates and cakes you deserve them.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review about the care & treatment your Grandma received. I will pass your kind comments on to the staff team. Thank you for sending some treats for the staff, that was a lovely gesture.
Dad settled straight away into his new home with the support and care of the lovely, caring, and professional staff. He is very happy and says he feels loved and cared for.
Thank you for taking the time to complete a postal card and submit your review. It is lovely to hear that your Dad has settled well at the home and he is happy here. I will share these comments with the rest of the staff team.
The care given to my uncle was wonderful he was treated with respect and dignity at all times. As we are not local the communication we received was very informative and welcome. The facilities at the home are lovely with a well-kept secure garden and regular activities. I cannot praise the staff enough for the care they give making it a home for their residents.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for the home. We have a passionate, caring staff team who go above and beyond for our residents, it is lovely to receive such positive feedback from families. Thank you again, I will pass your comments on to the team.
I would just like to say. My mum has recently been in hospital. The staff at the care home were great. They checked up on my mum to make sure she was ok and they also kept me informed of any situation that occurred. Even the manager went to see mum at the hospital to make sure she was being looked after properly. Many thanks for everything.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Your feedback is very important to us and I am pleased you felt the updates and communication were good during Mum's hospital visit. I will make sure your lovely comments are passed on to the team.
Looked after my dad in his last 18 months like their own. The staff were really good with him and nothing was too much trouble if we had a problem we communicated with them and worked together to put it right. Got to know a lot of the residents there and enjoyed talking to them all. Thought it was one of the better care homes in the area, easy to get to, friendly staff and a lovely place with lovely gardens. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a safe and friendly place for their loved ones.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. It was a pleasure to take care of your dad. We are a family-run care home so it is lovely to hear that you felt Dad was looked after like he was part of our family. I will pass your kind comments on to the care team.
Mum went into Riverside Care Complex for two weeks respite. It was quite upsetting as I'd never left Mum before. But the manager and all the staff were both very welcoming and supportive. Mum settled in really well and was enjoying all the activities. After a week I got a call from the manager saying Mum had been taken to the hospital as she was not well. When I got to the hospital, Mum looked emasculate, clean, hair shining and clean clothes I was told if Riverside hadn't acted so quickly things could have been a lot worse, as Mum has sepis. After 3 weeks in hospital, I wanted Mum to go back to Riverside where I knew she would be well looked after and was happy thanks to the manager we got Mum back to Riverside, where she was so warmly welcomed back. The staff are so so wonderful and I have a lot to thank them for.
Thank you so much for your review. It was a pleasure to be able to care for Mum in our home. I will pass your lovely comments and thanks on to the team.
I would like to say how pleased I am with my wife's care. Every one of the staff are very caring and supportive. The manager has great knowledge and helps in everything. Thanks for caring. My wife had a severe stroke in January, since then I have been supported by social services and the wonderful care home.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review about the home and the care that the staff team deliver. We will continue to be here for you and support you and your wife in every way we can. I will pass the comments across to the team.
After spending a lot of time trying to look after my husband at home the relief of finding such a great 'homely' place really helped both of us to move forward with our lives.
My husband sadly lost his battle with the disease in April 2023. Nonetheless, I believe it was the best place in the York area to provide the care needed at such an important time of our lives.
I would like to extend a huge thank you to a star team for helping to make my husbands stay as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Highly Recommended.
Thank you so much for leaving a review of the home, we are so sorry for your recent loss. Your feedback is valuable to our home and the staff team. Our team are caring and compassionate and I am so pleased that this shines through in the care that they deliver for our residents. We pride ourselves...
