So far it has been really good, Mum has been made to feel very welcome. A few things I have asked for have been met with positivity. We're very happy so far but she's only been here 2 days. Just hope her care continues as she's end-of-life care
Reply from Amanda Griffiths, Manager at Ashgrove Care Home

Thank you for your review. End-of-life care is a very special skill and our team continues to deliver exceptional care in this area. Your mum and your family have been brilliant in providing us with the information we need in order to provide her care as she wishes. Thank you!

Overall very friendly staff and helpful, cannot fault anybody.
My only criticism is that at times there seems to be a lack of staff, hence which leads to delays, etc. However, the people who are on duty work very hard to the best of their abilities.

My father became a resident in Sept 2018 and I couldn't have wished for a better place for him to spend his last few months.
Sadly he passed away at the beginning of Feb 2019 but right up until that moment he had the best care possible and I couldn't thank the staff enough for their compassion.
Reply from Sarah Short, Home Manager at Ashgrove Care Home

He is going to be sadly missed, as will you. You will always be part of the Ashgrove Family.
Thank you for your amazing review, we will continue to provide the best care possible.

Mother recently passed away at the age of 96 following 18 months in the care of Ashgrove Care Home. Throughout this time our family were very satisfied with all aspects of mothers care.
Mother was always treated with dignity and respect. Everybody from management, nursing staff, carers, entertainments,
cleaners, kitchen staff, laundry and handyman all did an exceptional job in extremely difficult circumstances.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank everybody concerned and to wish everyone every success in the future.

My mother has been extremely well looked after, all of her personal and medical care has been excellent. Her recent illness could not have been managed any better as she has recuperated beyond belief. I attended the Christmas lunch which was well attended, all the staff could not have been more obliging,
caring and the food was amazing. The entertainment was fantastic ensuring my mother and other residents all interacted together with their families.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2018.

Yesterday 19/12/17, I attended the residents and family Christmas lunch. This is the third time I have attended this function at Ashgrove and have to commend all the staff for putting a very enjoyable event (best yet). My parents both seemed to enjoy themselves, Mum in particular joining in with all
the post meal singing. Well done, it was a very nice afternoon.

I moved my wife from another home as I found the care my wife was receiving was shocking and the food was very poor and little of it (I fed my wife every day). This home The Ashgrove is at least twice as good.

Ashgrove has been completely transformed over the last 6 months due to the dedication and hard work of the new manager along with her staff of deputy, seniors and carers all of whom are totally committed to the well being and dignity of residents. Providing a clean welcoming atmosphere for residents,
relatives and visitors.
Ashgrove has been mum's home for some time now, I feel that her care has never been better knowing that mum is in a safe cared for environment where her needs are being attended to gives the reassurance that is so very important to her family.

Current Review Score: 8.0 (7.978)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.0 (7.978) out of 10 for Ashgrove Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 3.7 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 3.653 for Ashgrove Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (55 Excellents x 5) + (28 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (29 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 118 Ratings = 3.653
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.325 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashgrove Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 registered maximum number of service users is 11.2. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.2 = 0.625
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
