Mum has been at The Emmanuel for 3 months now and seems to be settling down and joining in with the many activities that are going on. On arrival from Hospital she was very agitated but was greeted by lovely, friendly and compassionate, caring staff who put her at ease. I cannot tell you how much that
meant. Having worked in care homes myself I was somewhat concerned but I needn't have worried. I know mum has not been the easiest of residents but all the staff have been marvellous and so patient with her and I feel this has helped her settle in. As a family we cannot express how much we have been helped and nurtured on this journey and would just like to say thank you so much to the whole team
Reply from Andrea Charlesworth, Director/ NI at Emmanuel House Residential Home

Your kind words about our staffs patience, compassion, and care are deeply appreciated and will be shared with the whole team. They work hard every day to ensure that each resident is treated with dignity, respect, and kindness and its incredibly rewarding to hear that this has made a difference to your mums experience.

Considering the huge adjustment that is expected of any resident leaving the familiarity of their own home after a large number of years, I think my sister is coping very well with the help of the staff.
All requests are noted and wherever possible acted upon satisfactorily.
Being allowed to eat in
her room if she chooses to do so on an odd day a bonus since this obviously entails more work for the staff rather than eating in the dining hall.
My sister's hygiene and therefore dignity dealt well in a considerate manner.
My only negative is that the TV showing videos in the lounge section, is far too loud making conversation during visiting difficult especially when in the courtyard.

Being the husband of a resident and I do a lot of visiting,I do see a lot of how everything is carried out and knowing how difficult it is handling some of the residents I think generally it is carried out in a caring and sympathetic way. Activities for residents are very good compared with other homes
as I have been informed.Having come into contact with most day shift staff ,I do have a few concerns but they are not detrimental in general to my wife's general care.I would have my Wife back at home if I thought I could provide the care and support that the staff are able to do and my own health is a problem that would cause problems to her care.
In general I am very happy with her care and support.
Well done all concerned

Mum came into Greenacres Care Home for a 2 week respite, after leaving hospital. Although she was still in discomfort the staff were wonderful, especially the young male senior, he went above and beyond, high praise to him indeed. If mum ever needed to go back into respite we'd definitely choose Greenacres
again. A lovely team of caring people.

We were all dreading putting our mother into a care home. Amber View was in place for emergency care. My sister went with my mum to view. Amber View enough, excellent, and it is peace of mind to leave our beautiful Mum in good care.

Well where do I start?
Good points - none. Bad points - numerous.
1) No apparent staff uniform or name badges worn, so was hard to tell who actually worked there or was just visiting.
2) Floors always appeared to be dirty, unswepped and not mopped properly.
3) Always seemed to be short staffed
as could be waiting well over 30 minutes for call bell to be answered and an even longer wait for help then to be offered.
4) Bedding not changed regularly as one incident involved my mum being sick and 3 days later the same bedding with sick stains was still on the bed.
5) Medical negligence led to a blue light admission to hospital which my mum never came back from. LA closed safeguarding only after the home re-trained staff and made changes to many procedures and procedures, it us unforgivable that a resident should have to experience negligence to ensure the most basic of things are properly taken care of. Please think twice before considering this home for a loved one.

Comments to explain my scores.
Facilities: very institutional, noisy, alarms continually going off for extended periods.
Care: missed medication over 14 days resulting in emergency hospital admission. Proven in formal investigation and admitted to by Minster Care.
Cleanliness: room floor cleaned
once, dirty communal areas.
Dignity: multiple occasions left in soiled clothing for over 2.5 hours.
Food: effort was made to cater for likes/dislikes.
Staff: 14 days of missed medication and extremely poor personal care delivery say it all. Suspect minimum staffing only.
Management: lied to my face, failed to properly act on complaints and tried to dodge safeguarding reporting.
Safety: not a safe caring place, they put my mum in hospital and took her dignity.
Rooms: ok size, basic empty boxes, noisy due to echoey halls.
Value: none.
Comments are factual based on either personal witness, formal investigation from the home or evidenced in documents from a subject access request. People deserve so much better.
Reply from Jankee Patel, Estates Manager at Ashgrove Care Home

We take all feedback very seriously. The care and wellbeing of our residents is always our principal priority. The LA has carried out an inspection around any safeguarding's and complaints and this has been closed with no action. Please be assured we have daily cleaning and deep cleaning programmes in place, which are adhered to. All our homes have nurse call systems in place for the safety of our residents, we understand the sound may be undesirable however it is essential. Our rooms are also fully furnished; however, we do recommend families bring items to make the room personal and familiar for the resident. We are sorry that your expectations were not met.

This service needs to be urgently inspected by the regulator. I work in the care sector and this home is a very basic local authority home charging higher prices. Staff were seen wearing dirty uniforms and no name badges. Floors are visibly unclean.
The "lounge" is a very depressing room with NHS
looking chairs with residents slumped in them. Call bells are constantly going off. Residents are not really given choice in their care or even what they are given to drink, it is just put in front of them. They are lucky to have basic needs met. I am amazed the registered manager passed his interview with the CQC. He is either in his office with the door closed or not in the home.

The LA has carried out an inspection around any safeguarding's etc. and the issue has been closed. Please be assured we have daily cleaning and deep cleaning programmes in place. Our menus are 4 weekly rolling and at each mealtime residents are offered at least 2 and most commonly 3 options for meals, if they do not like any of the options then we will always do our best to provide something they would enjoy. All our homes have nurse call systems in place for the safety of our residents, we understand the sound may be undesirable however it is essential. Our current prices for care are in line with our local competitors. All customers are made fully aware of these prior to care provision. We are sorry that your expectations were not met.

My mum came into Amber View Care Home in August 2024 aged 98, she has dementia, it wasn't an easy decision as Mum wanted to stay at home. I cannot emphasise how much care and compassion she is receiving and it was actually the right decision at the right time. Everyone who works here is very kind and
caring not only to Mum but to me and the rest of my family. Words cannot express my gratitude to all concerned in Mum's continuing care.
