The premises are "tired" and rather basic compared to swankier care homes, but in my experience the standard of care is better than the more expensive "four star" care home where my other parent is living, and communication with relatives and candour of management are definitely superior. Staff turnover is relatively low and the carer: resident ratio appears adequate. The staff and management team are, by and large, wonderful. The layout of the home and its relatively small size means staff are always able to keep an eye on everyone. The food is very good (considering the undoubted budget constraints). I'm a fan. The premises just need a bit of investment by the new owners (whoever they are).
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you have experienced a high standard of care, good communication, and consistency within the staff team at Emmanuel.
The current provider took over Emmanuel in March 2025, and since then the home has been...
Mum has been at The Emmanuel for 3 months now and seems to be settling down and joining in with the many activities that are going on. On arrival from Hospital she was very agitated but was greeted by lovely, friendly and compassionate, caring staff who put her at ease. I cannot tell you how much that meant. Having worked in care homes myself I was somewhat concerned but I needn't have worried. I know mum has not been the easiest of residents but all the staff have been marvellous and so patient with her and I feel this has helped her settle in. As a family we cannot express how much we have been helped and nurtured on this journey and would just like to say thank you so much to the whole team
Your kind words about our staffs patience, compassion, and care are deeply appreciated and will be shared with the whole team. They work hard every day to ensure that each resident is treated with dignity, respect, and kindness and its incredibly rewarding to hear that this has made a difference to your mums experience.
My mother is being well looked after and it is great she can interact with the other residents. Staff are very caring and friendly. Kept informed if there are any problems. Overall happy she is in a good home.
Thank you for your kind feedback. We are very pleased to hear that your mother is being well looked after and that she is able to interact positively with other residents.
It is reassuring to know that you find the staff caring and friendly, and that you feel well informed should any issues...
In general I am very happy with her care and support.
Well done all concerned
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for your kind words about the care and support your wife receives at Emmanuel. We recognise how important it is for families, particularly those who visit regularly, to feel confident in the care being provided, and we are pleased to hear...
All requests are noted and wherever possible acted upon satisfactorily.
Being allowed to eat in her room if she chooses to do so on an odd day a bonus since this obviously entails more work for the staff rather than eating in the dining hall.
My sister's hygiene and therefore dignity dealt well in a considerate manner.
My only negative is that the TV showing videos in the lounge section, is far too loud making conversation during visiting difficult especially when in the courtyard.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about Emmanuel. We appreciate your thoughtful comments and are pleased to hear that your sister is settling well and being supported through what can be a significant adjustment. It is reassuring to know that staff are responsive to requests and...
Management and staff are welcoming and friendly, there always seems to be activities going on whenever I visit. The meals are varied and smell and look nice. One of the first things I noticed on visiting was there was no smell of urine like I have experienced in some homes I've visited. The rooms are kept clean and tidy daily.
My husband has been living at the Emmanuel Care Home for eight months. He has been looked after by the kindest, calm, caring and compassionate staff. Moving a spouse into a care home is a very difficult and emotional decision to make. I have been supported and cared for too. I feel that as a couple we have become part of the loving Emmanuel family. The Emmanuel is a safe place, security is good, I am aware of regular fire drills. The use of PPE is strictly adhered to in the prevention of cross infection. There are regular activities and outings. It has been particularity lovely to see the interaction between my husband and other residents with the children who visit once a month from a local school.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We understand how emotional the decision to move a loved one into care can be, and we're truly touched to know you and your husband feel supported and part of the Emmanuel family. I will share your kind sentiments with our home team.
My auntie has been a resident for a couple of years now. The staff always go above and beyond with all of her needs and she has always been very happy at Emmanuel. This gives you great comfort as a relative to know your loved ones are happy and so well cared for.
Thank you for your kind feedback. We're so glad to hear that your auntie is happy and well cared for at Emmanuel. I will pass kind sentiments to our home team
The activities organised by the staff are fantastic. The staff themselves are always positive, happy and enthusiastic. Lovely place to look after loved ones. Much better than previous homes we have encountered.
Thank you for your kind words. We're thrilled to hear that you are happy with the activities at our home. Our team strives to provide high standard of care for our residents at all times.
My dad has been in Emmanuel House since February this year. We had lost my mum a year before and after she'd gone, dad deteriorated gradually and his dementia became more apparent to a point where he struggled to function. My dad has never been sociable outside the family but the team at Emmanuel House have managed to make him feel comfortable and inclusive and he engages easily and enjoys their company. When I visit he always appears very presentable- clean, shaven and well-dressed. His room/en-suite is always clean when I visit. He praises the staff, care and food during our conversations. He is healthier now. I have noticed how the team spend time with him when he is on his 'down' days and raises a smile from him. I noticed the staff to be friendly, calm, caring, patient and professional. There are activities and trips out for the residents and it is really lovely to see photos of these on the social media page. I feel very comfortable in trusting Emmanuel House with my dad's care.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're glad to hear that your dad is settling in well at Emmanuel House.Your trust in our team is greatly appreciated.
The team at Emmanuel have been a real eye-opener. My father has been in residential care since having a stroke 3 years ago, I was firmly of the view that care homes were all the same and he moved through a few different ones, with varying levels of care and success. The day he arrived at Emmanuel we were greeted by a professional team of people who really care, everyone in uniform with a complete understanding of their roles and responsibilities. He was immediately assessed and an action plan was put in place to begin improving his pre-existing conditions and overall care. This care home is literally what it says a home for your loved ones where every single employee genuinely cares.
Management are very easy to deal with, bringing proactive solutions with no prompting and often when you haven't realised yourself that there may be an issue. The home is clean and secure and all staff are very attentive to ensuring doors are closed, and access is managed through a signing-in/out system.
Thank you for your feedback. We're pleased to hear that your experience at Emmanuel has been positive and that the team has been able to meet your father's needs. We strive to provide high standards of care at all times. kind regards.
Today, we visited and stumbled upon a party organised by the team. I laughed, cried, sang and danced along with other residents and staff. It is the friendliest place with a team who make it a joy to live there! I have been a National Improvement Lead for twenty years in the NHS and I can honestly say I have not seen a more dedicated team in the country! Amazing. To all the team, thank you!
Thank you so much for this wonderful review. The team at Emmanuel truly appreciate feedback like this and your uncle is a pleasure to take care of.
Our friend needed to go into respite care after she was not safe to return home. We visited the home to have a look around and see the facilities. The lady who showed us around was very helpful in answering our questions. Our friend is settled at Emmanuel House. She is well cared for by the lovely staff and it's really nice to see her get involved with the activities and have people around her. There is a nice atmosphere in the home and the love for the residents is clear to see. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. We are delighted to know your friend is happy and comfortable with us. We always work hard to support our users with the best care possible. I will ensure your kind words are passed on to the team. Kind regards.
When I left Emmanuel House having visited Mum, I couldn't quite get my head around how good the staff are with their residents and how welcoming to us, the visitors, they are. They treat every resident as an individual and include as many as are able or wish to be involved in their many activities. I'm always impressed by how light-hearted the atmosphere is, with the staff in particular.
Thank you.
My aunt has been a resident at Emmanuel House Residential Home for 2 years and during this time she has received wonderful care from the staff. Latterly, she has been diagnosed with dementia and has had several stays in hospital. The staff have shown utter kindness to my aunt and myself. My aunt is well cared for, has excellent food and is clean and warm. Emmanuel House is well run by caring staff. The Home is clean and tidy and smells fresh. The care home staff do not get the praise they deserve. They do a wonderful, difficult and sometimes frustrating job (a job that many of us could not do) and also had to battle with Covid restrictions - a big "Thank You" from me.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It is our pleasure to care for your aunt and our team ensures to maintain a high-quality care at all times. I will pass your kind words on to the home team.
Kind regards,
My mam has been in Emmanuel House for eighteen months. I have always found the staff to be very professional, caring and friendly. Although my mam can be difficult at times, the staff are very patient and understanding of her needs and always involve us as a family in her care and the many activities and days out that are offered. Emmanuel has also adopted our family's pet tortoise, who is also very well cared for (spoilt). I would highly recommend Emmanuel to anyone considering a care home for a loved one. Emmanuel is a lovely, homely place and the staff are all highly trained and very knowledgeable in all aspects of care.
Kind regards.
The staff at Emmanuel cannot be praised highly enough for their commitment to care for my mother over the past 18 months and to deal with the challenges that have faced them during this time. Communication with the home has been excellent and reassuring when not able to visit more regularly due to both COVID and geography; always willing to discuss the care arrangements for my mother and how these may be adjusted to meet any changes of need and widen the experiences available to her. It is clear from those discussions that the staff have established a very good relationship with her and that care arrangements are personalised and reflect that knowledge and understanding, nothing is too much trouble and they are always supportive and positive. The COVID pandemic presented extreme challenges to the staff and residents as well as to the families of those staff and residents: the staff deserve enormous thanks for the way they worked to meet those challenges.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. We are happy to know that your mother is comfortable and satisfied with the care provided, our team's hard work is always to maintain our users' care standards as high as possible. Your feedback will be passed on to the home team. Kind regards, Rahi.
Dad was in Emmanuel House Residential Home from May 2021 until his death in June 2022. During that time the staff were brilliant. They were always cheerful and extremely helpful. They had to deal with staff shortages due to covid and even lockdowns! Dad was made very comfortable and the staff were very kind.
Thank you for your kind words. It was a privilege to care for your father, I will pass on the warm sentiments to the home team.
Kind Regards,Rahi.
My mother-in-law has been treated extremely well whilst in Emmanuel House's care. The staff are all wonderful and do everything they can to make her comfortable.
My husband has been resident in Emmanuel House for over 2-years. He has a long-term life-limiting condition resulting in complex care needs. The staff are responsive to his changing needs and manage these well. There is a good atmosphere in the home, which impressed me from the very beginning. Myself and other family members are always made welcome, and I feel we have built a good relationship. My husband is happy and well cared for. He says he likes the food, and they have taken the trouble to get to know his specific likes and dislikes. The staff are friendly and cheerful as well as caring and professional, nothing is ever too much trouble. I think very highly of the way they have met the challenges of the pandemic during the past year.
