I have found the staff at Regal unit to be knowledgeable in all mums needs, evidence of person centred care in both communication & demonstrated by staff on a consistent basis. Staff are approachable & always supportive in answering any of my concerns. I have observed mums interaction with staff to be hartwarming & reasuring. Mum is well cared for & staff know her personality & abilities I have not had much dealing with manager but the care home is well run & friendly.

My family member has a lovely bright room and enjoys the window view. Great to have a familiar care team and named nurse on each shift to promote individual care and make us feel valued and included re care needs. Good to have the opportunity to meet other residents and relatives for a little bit of peer support and recent new activities and new menu well received. The personal touch make a big difference to mental wellbeing, such as time for informal chats with care staff, hairdresser, housekeepers etc Appreciation and Thanks for the ongoing commitment and hard work from management and the whole staff team.

My mum was a resident of Caledonia for 3 years. During her time there I found the staff of Lascalla wing were nothing short of amazing, mum was looked after with such care, and affection, she was very happy. I was delighted with the home, always clean and tidy, and all the staff I had dealings with were an absolute delight, i couldn't have be happier with her care. I sing their praises at every opportunity. A huge big thank you to all the staff.

In the eight years that Mum was in Caledonia Care Home we, as a family, have nothing but praise and thanks for the care, love and attention shown to her. All the staff went out of their way to accommodate Mum's needs and make Caledonia feel like home for her.

Cannot rate Caledonia care home highly enough, the Regal unit was just amazing to my mum with the staff so attentive and caring. The care my mum and the family received during her last week was just amazing. I only wish we had found Caledonia care home sooner.

Thank you all for everything you did for Mum.

My husband, who has dementia and complex medical and behavioural issues, moved to Caledonia last year.
He settled in quite quickly and sees it as his home. He has had various medical issues which have been dealt with promptly and effectively by staff.
The staff are wonderful. They are always attentive and caring to all residents. They also keep me informed if he has any issues.

The biggest compliment I can give is that as his former Carer, I realise they care for him better than I could. Therefore I can sleep at night.

My late grandfather stayed here for the last 18 months of his life and I could not have wished for him to have better care than he did at Caledonia Care Home. The staff really could not have done more for him and in his latter weeks, went above and beyond to ensure he was comfortable.

I can’t recommend this care home enough for anyone considering settling either themselves or a loved one there.

Overall Experience

Caledonia Care Home is a fantastic residential home. The home has outstanding and well-trained staff who care for my mother in every situation. All of the staff work as a team from maintenance, cleaning, catering, care and nursing staff, through to management, to provide exceptional care. All staff have knowledge of my mother and her needs and support her day and night. Caledonia Care Home is well managed and kept in exceptional condition, clean, tidy and safe. The home has excellent facilities such as a hairdresser, residents' tea room, TV room, memory room and there is a high quality and comprehensive entertainment and activity programme. The staff support us by phone, regular updates and through formal reviews. It is without hesitation that I would thoroughly recommend Caledonia Care Home as a safe, welcoming and high-quality caring environment.

Caledonia Care Home puts my mums needs first, that staff are compassionate and professional and patiently worked with mum and her (initially) challenging behaviour to settle her into her new home. The care home is always clean, it is modern with different units beautifully decorated and bright. The care is not regimented and based upon residents needs and desires. Residents can choose to stay in their rooms or eat and socialise in communal areas. There is always a nurse available for each unit that houses 12 residents. Cannot rate it more highly.

My husband has dementia and has been in the care home for a couple of years. He is treated with respect and dignity by the kind and caring staff. The care home meets his needs really well. There are lots of different seating areas in the lengthy corridors and residents wander at will. These areas are different to each other giving a feeling of visiting different places. My husband was a walker and the long corridors allow him the freedom to do so. There is a country café, a pub, a quiet room with comfy armchairs and a "cinema" with a big screen to watch DVDs - all available for residents and their visitors. There is plenty of live entertainment, music and dancing, lots of activities, visits from school children and animals, choirs at Christmas. There is always something happening which residents don't have to attend but are encouraged and supported if they do want to participate. My husband always looks clean and tidy and all his personal needs are taken care of efficiently.

Having visited several care homes in the area, Caledonia was selected as 1st choice.
Staff from all sections of the home are friendly.
All staff assigned to father's unit are very approachable and attend to any requests.
Father's needs are well catered for. Nurses/carers are very attentive to him. I frequently hear of staff joking and singing along with him while e.g. getting him up in the mornings, etc.
Father likes company and to chat. The building, with its long straight corridors, allows him to sit and speak to staff and visitors or to walk, with carers frequently passing ensuring all ok. Residents are not restricted to their own unit. Father wanders into other units where it is no problem to the staff to ensure he is given his meals.

Father likes to attend the in-house musical events.

Unfortunately my papa was diagnosed with dementia, which led to him needing 24 hour care. This was hard for us as a family to accept. However the necessary wheels were put in motion, and importantly we had to make an informed choice of an appropriate care home. We chose Caledonia Care Home.

His stay was short and he was sadly taken away from us, but I can speak on behalf of my whole family in saying that we were blessed to have had him cared for and supported in the most respectful and dignified manner possible. The care staff were absolutely amazing and made my papa feel so welcome and comfortable, which helped us as family deal with the circumstances we were facing, right to the very end! My family, and I cannot thank the staff of Caledonia enough for all their care, support, love and compassion they showed. They truly are worth their weight in gold, and in my opinion deserve to be recognised for all their hard work.
