My mother-in-law has settled in very well, the staff are amazing with her. She keeps telling us that the meals are fabulous in this hotel. The activities she seems to enjoy, we have watched her singing along to music and playing bingo and carpet dominoes. Her room is also nice and clean, which is a
massive plus for us. The home on a whole is lovely, nice and clean and very inviting.
Reply from Kay, Home Manager at Picktree CourtWe really appreciate you sharing such a lovely review. It's wonderful to hear that you and your mother in law feel so well supported here. Care Homes are judged by not only the environment but also the skills and abilities of the staff and it is pleasing that you have noted that hard work from our kitchen, activities and domestic staff as well as the care team. Knowing that your mother in law has settled so quickly means a great deal to us and we are especially happy to hear that she views Picktree Court as a hotel! Thank you for choosing Picktree Court.

The care home was recommended by family and friends when my wife needed full-time care. From our first visit we had a good feeling about the home. My wife moved in on 10th February 2026. The staff have been very friendly, caring and helpful throughout the stay. Facilities are excellent. Meals are varied,
well-balanced and drinks are served with and between meals, with staff providing help with feeding as required. The rooms and communal spaces are kept clean and tidy every day. A range of activities are availavle and residents are encouraged to participate. Medical assistance was provided recently, quicker than our GP could provide. Our family feel my wife is safely looked after in the 'home' atmosphere the staff have created.

My godfather came into care Jan 2006. He has been here before for respite. When it was time for full-time care this was the only place that we wanted him to come to. As a retired nurse and ex-matron of a nursing home I am aware what standards of care are. Picktree Lodge has an excellent ethos with excellent
standards of care and a homely feel. The carers are all great. Most importantly Jim is happy here.

From my first contact with Picktree Court I have been impressed. The helpfulness, empathy and friendliness of all the staff has been very comforting. The home appears clean and tidy, and staff and residents happy. Mum is well looked after, personal and nursing care she receives, and encouraged to join
in a variety of activities. Overall I find Picktree Court a very pleasant and caring home.

I particularly wanted to highlight the Family Fun day which took place on Bank Holiday Monday. This was very well organised and you could feel the fun& laughter in the room which was lovely. The residents were all very much included and relatives were made to feel very welcome too.

I usually visit

when the weekly quiz takes place on a Thursday teatime and it is refreshing to see how residents are able to participate at a level which suits them and are all made to feel valued

well done :)

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.343)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.343) out of 10 for Picktree Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.861 for Picktree Court is calculated as follows: ( (127 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 144 Ratings = 4.861
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.482 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Picktree Court is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 88 registered maximum number of service users is 17.6. 12 Positive Reviews ÷ 17.6 = 0.682
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
