All staff make you feel welcome. The home doesn’t smell like a normal care home, smells lovely and my friend loves it there. Always lots on for my friend to do and office staff are so helpful when you come in.

The staff are great and some of them are priceless. The garden has now been restored by a local school and now looks so much better. I can’t comment about the food as my wife can’t remember what was on offer and there used to be a menu outside the dining room.

My sister had only been in a few weeks and had settled in very well which was a concern to me. What I have seen so far has eased any concerns that I had about my sister going into care and the staff have been very helpful to me with any questions and forms to be completed.

My 90-year-old mother reluctantly entered the Westerton care home for two weeks of respite care after a spell in hospital. I was very impressed with the facilities and with all my interactions with staff when I was organising her stay. She was not keen as she is very independent and lives on her own.
She came home after her stay looking very well and much stronger. Her experience was very positive and she said how lovely the food was, how nice all the staff were and that her room was lovely.
Although her stay was brief it was an unqualified success. I can’t thank all the staff enough for how welcoming they were on her arrival and for what they did for her during her two weeks.

I had a great experience within Westerton Care Home, everyone was very kind and attentive for which many thanks. I have now returned home and I would absolutely return to Westerton in the future if my circumstances change but right now I am able to cope at home with home help. There were activities
in the home, however, I feel these could be better advertised, however, I did a couple of activities when I found out about them. I did have a lovely valentines lunch which was very good and well done, everyone seemed to enjoy and I enjoyed spending my time with my wife who is a permanent resident within the home. The staff were all very helpful, they spent time chatting to me daily and were all very kind.

I haven't got a bad word to say about the girls who looked after my mother, they were all very good.
On the other hand, the group's finance department leaves a lot to be desired.
Previously they had taken off two months' fees from my mother's account in error and it took weeks of emails and calls
to be reimbursed.
After the recent passing of my mother, they took over three months of ignored emails and what appeared to me to be delaying tactics to return funds owed to my mother's estate at a stressful time for all the family trying to gain some closure.
A total lack of care and empathy which is ironic regarding the name of the parent company.

I cannot praise the staff in Bute Unit highly enough. They were kind, efficient, knowledgeable and professional.
The disappointment in this home lies in the fabric of the establishment. It is insufficient to blame the pandemic for the lack of refurbishment and investment. When initially shown around,
the unpleasant smell in some areas was unacceptable.

I live in a unit called Lora and I have had the privilege to be cared for in a warm kind manner.
Lots of renovations have taken place and I have enjoyed all this. I have made lots of new friends and since I retired I failed to do this.

I cannot fault Westerton Care Home in any way. The care and kindness of all staff is exemplary, to know Mum was being looked after and cared for so well was a great comfort to me. The facilities are clean, the bedrooms are light and spacious and there is always so much activity going on.

This care home is beautiful. The staff are all very pleasant and help keep their residents' spirits up. My dad loves the food, his room and the group gatherings. They had an accordion player in on Friday, he was up dancing. My dad is a changed man since he went in there, can’t thank the staff enough.

I am a friend of a lady admitted to the home who doesn't have any family. I live abroad. The policies of the home are erratic and some of their staff are not seeing the importance of providing human contact for such cases. I used to call our friend and normally someone would bring her a phone. Today
I was told there is a single handset and it can't be taken to her. It is mind-boggling why different policies are followed by different staff members but also how such an expensive facility would not have enough phones. Their website assures all rooms have phones. I explained I wanted to say goodbye because I travel 6 am next morning but this fell on deaf ears. Very disappointed especially because covid and isolation had a massive negative impact on the cognitive abilities and mental health of many elderly people who stay in care homes. One expects more consideration for supporting human contact than nurse was willing to grant.

My father has been in Westerton Care Home for over six months now. Initially, we were anxious about his transition however our whole experience has been extremely positive. Our initial contact and introduction were honest and helpful, we brought personal items from home for his room. The home itself
is split into units with familiar staff covering each unit. They took time to ask about likes, dislikes, interests and past hobbies. They made us relax and build trust.
Praise goes to all the staff working in Westerton during Covid, a very difficult time! They don’t provide care, they actually do care and take pride in their individual roles.
My father is in a place where he has said he feels safe, he loves the attention, visits to the cinema room and visits out into the community - including his pub lunch! We leave him knowing he is well looked after, he eats well. Overall, it’s been amazing and we cannot recommend his new home highly enough! Thank you all.
