Very welcoming team from first home visit to last day of my mother's 2 week respite care.
Facilities were fantastic and homely.
All the care staff were genuinely caring for my mother's needs and care plan.
Family visits were open and frequent,
A big thank you to all the staff.

My dad has had two separate periods in intermediate care (Bute Unit) in the past year. On both occasions, he has been extremely well looked after by staff. My sister and I really appreciate all the care and support given to him at this difficult time.

Food lets the home down; there must be so much wasted food each week. Lunch this week was fish, with a white parsley sauce, mash and green beans. Sound lovely. No sauce, fish was rubbery, green beans didn't have their ends snipped off, think the only thing my mum ate was the mash. She has lots of baked potatoes and toasties as alternatives, but these are not what she should be eating all the time. Fees have went up, but food standards haven't.

After a difficult period with mum spending time in hospital we realised going back home was increasingly unlikely. It's a huge responsibility to work with mum to find a suitable place for her to continue to maintain her independence but also have support around to maintain her safety and build her confidence. As a family we had prior knowledge and experience with Westerton during the covid pandemic caring for dad. Having contacted the staff team and given a tour around each unit we all felt that Westerton would be the place mum could settle. Just over a month in and we couldn't be more pleased. Initially nervous and uncertain staff gave mum space to settle, yet feel supported. They have been kind and caring towards her and this reflects in her confidence and presentation. She is happier, beginning to engage in activities within the home and has familiar faces around her who support her daily needs. Thank you everyone in Westerton, across the whole staff team!

Westerton staff have transformed my brother's health and enjoyment of life. Since he was admitted 10 weeks ago, with their excellent care and kindness.

He has been transformed from, initially, a very reluctant resident to a very grateful, comfortabe happy resident.

My Mother resided in Westerton for the last 3 months of her life having only recently passed away in early August. The care received by our Mother was exemplary in every way. ALL the staff were wonderful, friendly, approachable to our Mother and us.
Really, I cannot praise everyone enough who we met and works in Westerton Care Home.

They are all super professional, caring staff, one and all, and contributed so much to enable my Mother to be a happy, nurtured, loved person in the last few months of her life. Our family cannot thank them all enough. Westerton Care Home is a wonderful place and I would recommend it to anyone who requires to be in care.

My experience has been very positive, with a very relaxed initial viewing followed by a relatively smooth move-in for my mum. Everything overall good a few minor niggles but to be expected with the change from home to care home for the first time. All staff are very friendly and caring.

My friend was nursed and so well cared for in Westerton Care Home for 2 weeks, in this time, I visited every day, and was very impressed with his level of care and compassion/kindness. I felt he was in very good hands, the staff were exceptional and I had no worries for his safety and care. They went out of their way to make his stay there as comfortable as possible. Thank you all from myself, and on behalf of his family.

My mum moved into Westerton 5 months ago and is so comfortable, and all the staff from cleaning, laundry, kitchen, offices, maintenance, hairdressers and the carers and nursing staff are so friendly, helpful and supportive, they go out of their way to make the residents feel like a big family. The home is kept clean and fresh and the variety on the menu seems varied, there always seems to be things going on to keep the residents busy. It's always hard if the time comes and someone needs to become a resident in a home but all at Westerton Care make it as easy as possible, everyone is always made so welcome.

Review from Malcolm S (Cousin of Resident) published on 3 October 2024 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

I was impressed with the decor and cleanliness of the building and the quality of the facilities, both medical and recreational (indoors and out): it was the care and consideration of the staff which made the greatest impression. My cousin was allocated a lead nurse, and a first-year student. I live abroad, but was still able to get regular daily updates on my cousin's condition and was able to speak with him on the phone. A wide variety of food and drink was always available, and all the nursing staff, carers and auxiliaries made a point of talking with him whenever they had reason to be in his room. All residents had the use of several communal rooms, dining areas and recreational facilities all of which were bright, airy, beautifully clean and well-decorated, and I noticed a small dedicated maintenance team who were an integral part of the workforce and they, too, displayed care and consideration towards the residents as they carried out their tasks.

Overall the standards of the care home are very good, facilities are also good and varied. The staff in the main are attentive and friendly, menus are also varied and of good quality. A nice personal touch on our 50th Wedding anniversary, they organised a special meal in the Cafe area with wine a nice touch which was appreciated.

My dad came to Westerton, Bearsden as an emergency after Mum had a fall. EDC could not have found a better place for my dad. He has dementia and has difficulty chatting to people. He really liked the communal dining room in Mall Ward. The food was excellent. My dad's room was kept very clean and he received truly exceptional care. The manager on Mull Ward went above and beyond to make my dad's stay comfortable. Unfortunately the activities lady was on holiday. The haircut at the end was the icing on the cake for my dad. Thank you so much.

My mum has received nursing and residential care over a number of years from Westerton Care Home. She has been suffering from Alzheimer's dementia for a very long time. Her care here has been excellent and she is attended to with dignity, friendliness and respect. She is taken out on trips which she greatly enjoys and she has access to a garden where she can sit with the sun on her face and listen to the everyday sounds of the outside world which brings her joy. I think the staff are wonderful and kind.
