The care home has undergone a major refurbishment and would invite you to come in and see the positive changes that have been made. All our staff deliver dignified care in every unit and I will pass your kind words on to Bute unit.

I cannot fault Westerton Care Home in any way. The care and kindness of all staff is exemplary, to know Mum was being looked after and cared for so well was a great comfort to me. The facilities are clean, the bedrooms are light and spacious and there is always so much activity going on.

I am a friend of a lady admitted to the home who doesn't have any family. I live abroad. The policies of the home are erratic and some of their staff are not seeing the importance of providing human contact for such cases. I used to call our friend and normally someone would bring her a phone....
I am a friend of a lady admitted to the home who doesn't have any family. I live abroad. The policies of the home are erratic and some of their staff are not seeing the importance of providing human contact for such cases. I used to call our friend and normally someone would bring her a phone. Today I was told there is a single handset and it can't be taken to her. It is mind-boggling why different policies are followed by different staff members but also how such an expensive facility would not have enough phones. Their website assures all rooms have phones. I explained I wanted to say goodbye because I travel 6 am next morning but this fell on deaf ears. Very disappointed especially because covid and isolation had a massive negative impact on the cognitive abilities and mental health of many elderly people who stay in care homes. One expects more consideration for supporting human contact than nurse was willing to grant.

Westerton Care Home is bright and welcoming with friendly staff. After moving around various locations, Mum settled well and quickly felt comfortable in her new surroundings. The facilities have been more limited due to Covid but Mum has enjoyed the pampering sessions in her room, having her hair done and watching movies and concerts on the big screen. She has also enjoyed taking part in the communal activities both indoors and outdoors. Staff have been so friendly and attentive and happy to chat and help with adjustments such as pictures and shelves. Admin staff are also very helpful. The food always looks and smells delicious and we intend to take up the offer of having a lunch date in the care home with Mum soon. Her room is kept very clean and tidy with bedding changed regularly and it always looks fresh. Mum interacts well with staff and is comfortable with the other residents, she loves the view from the day room and has become more responsive since we started to visit more frequently.

Mum has been living at Westerton for nearly two years now and her care has been very good. We are kept informed of any changes to her physical and mental wellbeing and the staff dealing with Mum are professional and friendly, always looking out for her and attending to her needs.

As a family, we cannot praise or thank Westerton and all the lovely staff there enough. I hope they read the reviews too and not just families looking to place their loved ones somewhere safe and special. We've certainly found somewhere amazing for mum, she tells the staff she loves them and she means it. She is happier than we've seen her in years and spends her days laughing, dancing, drinking tea, eating cakes, going to the cafe, the theatre and the cinema - all in-house at Westerton. I'm sure the staff there sometimes forget what an amazing job they do and the difference they all make. It's great to visit and meet them and hear them all laughing and joking, making a visit special. Westerton have given Mum a whole new lease of life and shake up perceptions of what a care home can be. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it - my sister has worked in the care sector all her life (mum did too) and it's a really top class place to live and dance the slosh at 8.30am (if you want).
