My daughter moved into long term care in August, the care has been excellent & she is settling in well. The medical & care staff have taken the time to learn & ask questions about her complex condition & adapted the care to be personal to her needs & preferences. Her one to one carers are all so friendly
& nothing is too much trouble.
We would recommend Askham to others in need of a high level of medical care.

Independence in patients by putting trust in their patients to complete everyday living tasks. The atmosphere is relaxing surrounded by tranquil setting. All of these things go hand in hand to aid the recovery of their patients.

My stay was for just over 9 weeks after my initial stroke. The staff were amazing, kind and not too much in your face. My Physio was good but I done this in about 6 weeks. I needed more time on my mental side which I got.

I was a resident at Askham Court for twelve weeks. I arrived unable to walk and was using a Sara Steady and left able to walk on my own. The staff were professional, helpful, and friendly and helped me cope with a very difficult time in my life. The accommodation was excellent as was the food, most
of the time. There was a pleasant ambience each day. The Physiotherapy staff were excellent as were the Occupational Therapy staff, giving me wonderful encouragement, yet pushing me that little bit further at each visit.

I write to sincerely praise the care and dedication given to my husband over the 8 years he spent at Askham Place. The care was exemplary throughout his time and the whole team are amazing. Askham Place is well lead and well-staffed, in order to meet the needs, wishes and preferences of all residents.
From what I witnessed during my husband's time there, the team are equality and diversity-focused meeting the needs, wishes, preferences and dignity of the individuals living at Askham Place, along with promoting as much independence as possible.
Unfortunately, my husband sadly passed away in April this year, but I took comfort in knowing that he passed peacefully, in a place that was familiar to him, with myself and the team around him - they were terrific from the beginning to the very end.
My husband and I were fortunate to find Askham Place, for which I will be eternally grateful.

My mum has been residing at Askham since her stroke in March 2024, she arrived in May 2024 and the care she has received is beyond outstanding, I've never worried about her for a second being in their care.
She has come on leaps and bounds since being here - physically, emotionally and in her speech.
My mum has beaten all the odds being in their care and I can't thank them enough for everything they've done for my mum in such a short amount of time!
They've met all my mum's needs and bent over backwards to make my mum happy and comfortable!

I have found the staff to be courteous, friendly and helpful, in particular the senior nurse who administers the medication. Lovely lady. The home appears clean and friendly. I believe my friend has had a positive time there and received good care. The only negative he mentioned was being left wet for

My wife suffered major brain damage early January, thanks to a specific care unit she survived but required major rehabilitation as part of her recovery and was sent to Askham.
Great facilities, grounds and lovely rooms. Various disciplines with specialist staff carried out. Facility both safe and
secure with caring staff.
Rooms are safe with full hospital-style beds plus en-suite. Communal rooms with catering facilities for those able to use.
Very friendly, helpful staff including laundry, visitor's toilets on site coffee shop with gardens to sit in. Must give a mention to the caring cleaner who took great pride and care in her work ensuring everywhere was immaculate.

I cannot thank the staff enough for what they did for me the care was outstanding! They got me back on my feet “literally “ from the therapy team to the care staff they promoted my impedance as much as possible and gave me the skills and support I needed to be discharged home following my major stroke.

A registered Dementia Champion, Michelle is skilled in Training Programme Design, Delivery, Coaching, Training Needs Analysis and QCF Assessing. Inspired by Askham’s mission – to become a centre of excellence for training, in the local community and beyond – Michelle now heads up the state-of-the-art, on-site training facility.
