I have visited Askham Court on numerous occasions over the years as a driver and always found it be be a very friendly and well run unit . Bev and the team work to a high standard ensuring you are treated with respect and dignity. Whilst an inpatient only for a short time I built a positive rapport with the team. Askham Court doesn't feel like a medical setting, it's a very relaxed atmosphere with approachable staff. The team in-still Independence in patients by putting trust in their patients to complete everyday living tasks. The atmosphere is relaxing surrounded by tranquil setting. My stay was for just over 9 weeks after my initial stroke. The staff were amazing, kind and not too much in your face. My Physio was good but I done this in about 6 weeks. I needed more time on my mental side which I got.

Askham Court is a warm and welcoming environment for rehabilitation. I was a resident at Askham Court for twelve weeks. I arrived unable to walk and was using a Sara Steady and left able to walk on my own. The staff were professional, helpful, and friendly and helped me cope with a very difficult time in my life. The accommodation was excellent as was the food, most of the time. There was a pleasant ambience each day. The Physiotherapy staff were excellent as were the Occupational Therapy staff, giving me wonderful encouragement, yet pushing me that little bit further at each visit.
I am very happy that my friend is being cared for in Askham Place. The care team are very kind and helpful. The quality of care is excellent and I can speak so highly of this. I have found the staff to be courteous, friendly and helpful, in particular the senior nurse who administers the medication. Lovely lady. The home appears clean and friendly. I believe my friend has had a positive time there and received good care. The only negative he mentioned was being left wet for too long on one occasion by a male member of staff. Otherwise all good. The staff are very welcoming and helpful to residents and their families. It is like a family-run home. The physio is very good and the carers are very patient and kind. In her previous role as a Registered Manager, she played a pivotal role in restructuring and optimising nursing processes, resulting in a notable improvement in resident satisfaction scores. Her ability to foster a collaborative and supportive work environment has earned the respect of her peers and subordinates alike. She is well-known for her hands-on approach to leadership, often seen on the floor, actively engaging with staff and ensuring that the highest standards of care are maintained.

Bev is a disciplinarian who, nevertheless, has developed a family feel within her team; a team that looks after a very complex set of residents. The strengths she brings to the peer group centre on her clinical excellence in dealing with highly complex residents. Bev in particular is very focused on the role of the family in supporting patients to progress towards their goals.

Training Manager, Michelle, has spent over 30 years in the care sector and as a leading industry Trainer. The two have always gone hand-in-hand for Michelle, who now brings her extensive knowledge and on-the-job experience to life for the benefit of those she trains at AVC.
A registered Dementia Champion, Michelle is skilled in Training Programme Design, Delivery, Coaching, Training Needs Analysis and QCF Assessing. Inspired by Askham’s mission – to become a centre of excellence for training, in the local community and beyond – Michelle now heads up the state-of-the-art, on-site training facility.
