Askham Care Homes owns four Cambridgeshire care homes located in pleasant Doddington: Askham House, Askham Hall, Askham Court and Askham Place, which seek to offer a comprehensive care service for nursing and residential needs, including for young people with physical disabilities.

Unique features include the Askham Beauty & Leisure Therapy Centre which include a high spec Gymnasium and a HydroPool for those with special needs. The Askham Cafe supplememts the need to refresh after a therapy or beauty session. Askham boast one of the largest function rooms in the region, the Askham Suite - where functions and meetings can be held in settings akin to country estates.

All of the care services can be utilised by resident, resipte or day visitors; a community spirit is fostered through the village atmosphere created within the 13 acres which includes a livery taking care of horses.

Askham's village concept is relatively new to the UK - visitors will be surprised at the setting, which exudes informality and a "best-in-class" care provision.

I feel reassured knowing my parents are so well cared for by the staff at Askham Hall. The Manager and Lead Nurse have been exceptional-always responsive to any queries we have and extremely supportive. The staff on reception are so friendly and helpful-nothing is ever too much trouble for them!

It

was a daunting decision to admit that both my parents needed to move into a care home, something we never imagined would happen. However, we are deeply thankful that they are at Askham, where they receive such compassionate and professional care.

My daughter moved into long term care in August, the care has been excellent & she is settling in well. The medical & care staff have taken the time to learn & ask questions about her complex condition & adapted the care to be personal to her needs & preferences. Her one to one carers are all so friendly
& nothing is too much trouble.
We would recommend Askham to others in need of a high level of medical care.

Bev and the team work to a high standard ensuring you are treated with respect and dignity. Whilst an inpatient only for a short time I built a positive rapport with the team. Askham Court doesn't feel like a medical setting, it's a very relaxed atmosphere with approachable staff. The team in-still

My mother has been at Askham for 4 years now. I have to say that I prefer the set up in the other building- it is easier to get around than this one.

It would appear that the food she eats is now more easier to eat - it looks softer. Food was her main preoccupation as a vegetarian when she lived

at home. If you could give her some Dahl and rice occasionally she would be very happy.

Other than that everything else seems fine.

Reply from Manu Magar, Head of Care and Nursing Services at Askham HouseThank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We're truly touched that your mother has been with us for four years and delighted to hear that she is enjoying her meals and feeling well cared for. Your comments about vegetarian options are very valuable and we'll make sure these are shared with our catering team. We're always looking to enhance the experience we provide, and your observations help us continue to do so. Thank you again for your trust and ongoing support.

I can't thank the staff enough for the wonderful care my husband receives. He has advanced Alzhiemers and depends on people to give him full nursing care. My husband has a most beautiful room, a carpet and lots of sunshine making it a calming place to be for him and our family.
Also
Askham House is very dog friendly too, we bring our two dogs in to see my husband.
The place is spotlessly clean always and smells pleasant.
I have full confidence in all of the staff they look after my husband and keep him safe. Also they will keep me informed of any changes too.

Overall the care staff are wonderful. They care. The ratio of staff to resident is concerning, low. It becomes obvious that standards are substantially raised prior to an inspection.
Reply from Manu Magar, Head of Care and Nursing Services at Askham HouseThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're truly grateful for your kind words about our care staff and the dedication they show - it's heartening to know their efforts are recognised. We're also sorry to hear about your concerns and want to reassure you that we take them seriously. We are committed to providing consistently high standards of care every day, not just during inspections. As part of our standard practice, we review each resident's dependency needs on a monthly basis - or sooner if required - and ensure that safe staffing levels are in place at all times to meet these needs. Your comments will be shared with the wider team as part of our ongoing efforts to improve. I cannot express enough my grattitude for the high level of care, multdisciplinery support and rehabilitation that my mother has received during her almost 3 month stay at Askham Grove.
The team have been like a family to my mother whom has recovered well and improved immensely -far beyond our expectations!
The
facilities offered are vast and mum particularly enjoyed the social apects of her stay e.g bingo games, cinema sessions, group activities and the on-site cafe!
The staff have ventured above and beyond to facilitate mum's recovery whilst making her feel comfortable and at-home. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff have been a huge source of support and comfort to myself and my family during what has been a difficult time emotionally for us and we will be eternally grateful for this.
Thank you, Askham!
