We have been very pleased with the care and support that Mum has received since being at Askham. The staff are all respectful and treat Mum with dignity. There are daily activities for residents and the home is situated in a lovely setting. Staff keep us informed of any updates or incidents.

My mother who has Alzheimer's, has lived at Askham House for several years now, we moved her here from another care home due to concerns about her care during Covid. Since she has been at Askham she has been care for to a high standard, she is treated with respect and we are extremely happy with the staff that care for her.
Families are encouraged to highlight any concerns they may have at anytime, and although we have not had to raise anything much, when I have needed to speak to the lead nurses or any managers, I have always felt listened to and responded to.
I would highly recommend Askham House for your loved ones.
My father moved into Askham house a couple of months ago after his vascular dementia deteriorated. He had previously had a month in hospital then two months in another care home in Peterborough.
Having experience of Askham House as my mum has lived there for some years now, we decided to mum dad there too.

The first day we moved him he was calm happy and very settled. Both myself and my sister feel this is the best thing we have done for both mum and dad and for ourselves, we finally feel relaxed and happy with their care and thank the staff and management for all they do for us all.

With telephone conversation prior to visiting. MY mother and emails received my experience was of a positive, on my first impressions on entering the grounds was of a well kept establishment, on entering the main reception to seek advice on location of my mother the reception actually showed me to the destination which after a long 5 hour journey was much appreciated
On entering the unit, it felt secure and bright and clean. The staff have been nothing but informative and helpful in all areas, and the management is understanding, and very helpful advice going forward gives myself reassurance that my mother will be well looked after.
A very special thank you to Manu, and all the nurses and carers that have helped my mum Erica settle in

Kind regards Barry

As a family, we were very happy with the care that my father-in-law received at Askham House. We are incredibly grateful for the care and compassion shown to him during the final weeks of his life. The staff treated him with dignity, kindness and genuine warmth at all times and their support to our family meant more than words can express.

Nothing was ever too much trouble and it gave us great comfort knowing he was in such caring and capable hands. Thank you to everyone at the home for making such a difficult time a little easier through your professionalism, empathy and humanity.

I would like to just say how fantastic this Care Home is...
My Father in Law came into Askham Hall almost 2 years ago, very frail and a shadow of himself after spending a considerable amount of time in hospital. When we first visited him about 2 weeks after he went in, I was shocked at how frail he looked, I burst into tears!
We hadn't seen my Father in Law for 4 months as we live in Cornwall and visiting regularly isnt easy.
I said to my husband, I'll be surprised if dad is still alive at Christmas... fast forward 6 months...
he was still here...
Looking a LOT healthier. He wasnt skin and bone, he had put on weight, was healthy & had that cheeky sparkle back in his eyes!!!
This is all from the care & dedication that the carers at Askham Hall have for the service users they look after.

First Class care & compassion is given to each and every individual that uses this service. It is because of this home my Father in Law is still with us & we couldnt be more grateful! Xx

From walking through the front doors, it is a very welcoming experience. I come daily, and everyone from management, nurses, office staff, carers, cleaners, laundry ladies and cafe staff are all so friendly and polite, everyone uses my dad's name to speak to him, and some of the carers go beyond what you would expect. The pressure has been lifted from me, and I thank all at Askham.

Review of Askham Court from Margaret P (Mother of Resident) published on 5 May 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
From the moment our son arrived at Askham Court both his and our lives have changed for the better. Both the environment and all the staff that is, service and medical staff have enabled our son to recuperate from major brain surgery and plan for his future. All aspects of Askham have in our opinion been designed with care and consideration for the recovery of all the patient's needs. There has not been any situation which could not be covered at any time by the team of the most professional staff. The amount of research into the needs of each resident to enable the most directed care and direction to be achieved has been outstanding. You have changed not only a resident's life and future but also that of his family. All has been done with understanding, care, professionalism and love.

Thank you all very much

Review of Askham Grove from Eileen S (Resident / Service User) published on 23 April 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Overall, a very good experience. The standout best part of Askham is the staff. Without doubt they are very welcoming, very friendly and well trained to perform their job. Physio staff are extremely encouraging and their physio sessions were excellent. Often proving that using simple exercises are better than complicated machines. I arrived at Askham unable to walk and now can walk with a stick. Some things, regards facilities, are not so good, e.g., the automatic doors unfixed after a long time, the first wheelchair had no brakes that worked.

Review of Askham House from Roger W (Husband of Resident) published on 3 February 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

I have found all the staff to be very attentive towards my wife and I am kept informed of any changes. Any enquiries that I make are immediately answered whether these relate to her day to day needs or to her medical condition. Following my wife's accidental fall that resulted in her sustaining a damaged shoulder and cracked upper arm, the staff are keeping a close eye on her mobility and are quickly assisting her if she moves around. The period of time when she lost her appetite was of great concern to both myself and the staff but their support to me when I offered to assist and encourage her eating of the mid day meal has been outstanding. In the early days of this, staff discussed with me different menus or treats that could be used to entice her to eat. The trying 2 or 3 week period in getting her back to eating a full meal was very worrying but by working together with carers and kitchen staff we all succeeded in getting her over this problem.

Review of Askham House from M B (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 7 January 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My step-nan recently moved into Askham House and from the moment we arrived, she received the warmest welcome. From day one, the care has truly lived up to its meaning in the purest sense. You only have to watch how the carers interact and engage with the residents to see how much they genuinely love what they do. It's clearly more than just a job to them - it's a family and a wonderful community to be part of. Their understanding of dementia shines through in everything they do, with care that is compassionate, patient, and full of kindness. The residents are full of life and smiles, often enjoying a cheeky dance. As a family, we have also been welcomed with open arms, and we love visiting. The activities team truly live up to their name, always providing a variety of engaging activities for the residents-from arts and crafts to cooking sessions and enjoyable film afternoons. They regularly welcome entertainment from the local community. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!!

Askham house is just the perfect place, my mum was in another care home in Huntingdon and it was awful the care was non existent.

We moved mum here in hope she would be cared for and loved and oh my was she, from the first day we walked through the door mum was greeted with warmth and love, the carers are amazing always chatting and helping the residents, there is always something going on with activities and even in the evening they will play music and sing and dance, it's just like being in a big family. Askham House is definitely the best place for my mum she loves it here, and we her family love it too just knowing that the carers are looking after her as they would there own parents Alzheimer's is a dreadful disease but at Askham house everyone is treated with love and respect just like they should be. I feel reassured knowing my parents are so well cared for by the staff at Askham Hall. The Manager and Lead Nurse have been exceptional-always responsive to any queries we have and extremely supportive. The staff on reception are so friendly and helpful-nothing is ever too much trouble for them!
