  • Care Homes Owned by Askham Village Community Ltd
Askham Care Homes owns four Cambridgeshire care homes located in pleasant Doddington: Askham House, Askham Hall, Askham Court and Askham Place, which seek to offer a comprehensive care service for nursing and residential needs, including for young people with physical disabilities.

Unique features include the Askham Beauty & Leisure Therapy Centre which include a high spec Gymnasium and a HydroPool for those with special needs. The Askham Cafe supplememts the need to refresh after a therapy or beauty session. Askham boast one of the largest function rooms in the region, the Askham Suite - where functions and meetings can be held in settings akin to country estates.

All of the care services can be utilised by resident, resipte or day visitors; a community spirit is fostered through the village atmosphere created within the 13 acres which includes a livery taking care of horses.

Askham's village concept is relatively new to the UK - visitors will be surprised at the setting, which exudes informality and a "best-in-class" care provision.

I can't thank the staff enough for the wonderful care my husband receives. He has advanced Alzhiemers and depends on people to give him full nursing care. My husband has a most beautiful room, a carpet and lots of sunshine making it a calming place to be for him and our family.
Also
Askham House is very dog friendly too, we bring our two dogs in to see my husband.
The place is spotlessly clean always and smells pleasant.
I have full confidence in all of the staff they look after my husband and keep him safe. Also they will keep me informed of any changes too.

Reply from Manu Magar, Head of Care and Nursing Services at Askham House

Overall the care staff are wonderful. They care. The ratio of staff to resident is concerning, low. It becomes obvious that standards are substantially raised prior to an inspection.

Reply from Manu Magar, Head of Care and Nursing Services at Askham House

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're truly grateful for your kind words about our care staff and the dedication they show - it's heartening to know their efforts are recognised. We're also sorry to hear about your concerns and want to reassure you that we take them seriously. We are committed to providing consistently high standards of care every day, not just during inspections. As part of our standard practice, we review each resident's dependency needs on a monthly basis - or sooner if required - and ensure that safe staffing levels are in place at all times to meet these needs. Your comments will be shared with the wider team as part of our ongoing efforts to improve. If you would like to arrange a follow-up meeting with the Home Manager or a Director, please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly. My brother was transferred to Askham Hall in early March 2025 & I have made regular telephone calls asking after him and have made 3 visits so far...
First impression of community buildings - what a lovely place!
On my visits I found all the staff very welcoming, friendly, helpful and caring. There
were some difficult challenges to deal with regarding my brother's early days in the home and I had no problem believing that these were handled most professionally.

I cannot express enough my grattitude for the high level of care, multdisciplinery support and rehabilitation that my mother has received during her almost 3 month stay at Askham Grove.
The team have been like a family to my mother whom has recovered well and improved immensely -far beyond our expectations!
The
facilities offered are vast and mum particularly enjoyed the social apects of her stay e.g bingo games, cinema sessions, group activities and the on-site cafe!
The staff have ventured above and beyond to facilitate mum's recovery whilst making her feel comfortable and at-home. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff have been a huge source of support and comfort to myself and my family during what has been a difficult time emotionally for us and we will be eternally grateful for this.
Thank you, Askham!

Mum lived at Askham House for 13 months until her passing in March 2025. During that time I was happy to be able to walk away from my visits knowing that Mum was in a comfortable, pleasant and safe environment, receiving excellent personal and medical care from the staff who, at all levels, were genuinely
caring and helpful. As a family we were always included and kept updated with every aspect of Mum's care needs and relied on the professionalism and expertise of the staff who assisted us through some difficult times.

I can highly recommend Askham House. My husband has been there for 6 years now. He has the best care anyone could ask for. Although my husband is in a wheelchair and can not do anything for himself the care he receives is outstanding. He can not speak but the staff read him so well. He is always well
presented clean and tidy. Hair and nails too. I do have the time to be his wife and enjoy my time with him.
His food is tailored for his needs too, the chef takes note of residents choices and needs. (Food always smells good and looks good too.
All staff from cares, nurses and management excel in their work.
Thank Askham for being our extended family.

My beloved Dad has been a resident at Askham since before Covid. He has very limited abilities these days but the staff always ensure he is well turned out and that he has a shave (as being clean shaven was his preference when he was well). My Dad struggles to eat and the chef had a conversation with
my Mum about how they could encourage him to eat more by making some of his favourite meals. The staff also make a conscious effort to bring him into the communal space in his wheelchair and move him to his bed at mealtimes as he eats better there. It is sad that Dad is so unwell but I am confident he is being well looked after at Askham.

My wife has Alzheimer's and after a fall at home needed to go into hospital. After six weeks in there I was told she was in the last stages of her illness, had only a short time to live and needed to be moved into a care home with nursing palliative for end of life care. I was given a list of suitable
care homes but only Askham House was in reasonable travelling distance. I had 24 hours to decide and no chance to view. I agreed she should go there but had concerns about the unknown. I need not have worried. From my first visits there I knew I had made the right decision. The home is well laid out. spotlessly clean and fresh smelling, calm and inviting. The individual rooms are lovely. The nursing staff and carers are kind, friendly and totally dedicated. Because of this my wife's short time to live has now stretched to over a year and although she can't communicate, she is content and stress free.

My mother has been in this wonderful care home for almost 4 years. She has dementia and now unable to feed herself. She is always clean and tidy and has regular showers and hair washes (which in elderly people is not always easy to achieve) Her room is light, airy and always clean. All staff are so
