My hubby came into this care home a year ago. The manager and her staff have done everything thing possible to welcome my hubby. The manager herself has gone beyond the call of her work to even help myself and my son in her own time (I'm disabled and my son has medical problems ). I have on a couple
of occasions phoned the manager while she was on holiday and bless her she still had plenty of time to talk to me.
Hubby made friends with the staff and other residents and I love that they call us all family. The staff have been absolutely amazing.Hubby could be hard work at times (due to illness) but they made sure he was well looked after. and the chefs are always eager to please.
The place is always kept clean and tidy,. The manager deserves all the awards she can get for this place.
Sadly we recently lost my hubby through illness and the manager and he amazing team arrange to have his wake there as I believe that is what he would have wanted.Thank you all so very much every one at Cartref Cleddau you are awesome.

My mother-in-law went for respite. From our first meeting with the manager and meeting carers and nurses, we were very reassured she was in safe hands. She was looked after with such kindness, thoughtfulness and respect. The staff were very approachable and easily available for me to check on her progress.
Thank you.

I would like to thank all the staff at Surehaven care home for the fantastic job they've done looking after my uncle. The support and care that's been given to him are exceptional.
The home has a family vibe, and the staff are helpful and caring. They have explained everything the staff have done
to keep him comfortable.
Many thanks to the staff for the support and care at this sad time.

Current Review Score: 8.2 (8.208)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.2 (8.208) out of 10 for Cartref Cleddau is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.2 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for Cartref Cleddau is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.208 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cartref Cleddau is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.8 = 0.208
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Support Worker/Manual Handling Trainer and Dementia Awareness Trainer Joined: 2020

When I was 19 I wanted to be a nurse, but I ended up in Retail Management instead. Now that I am a bit older, I have returned to care and I am currently training my way back up into nursing. I am also the Manual Handling Trainer here at Surehaven and I am also the Dementia Awareness Trainer as well. I feel like I make a difference to people's day at Surehaven and that was something I never felt while working in retail.

Job Title: Maintenance Operative Joined: 2020

I have been in the builders’ trade since I left school and when the job came up about maintenance in a healthcare setting, I was curious about what it would entail, so I went for it and never looked back.

I have always been fascinated by how things worked and if they are broken what can I do to fix them. Every day is a new day and it brings new challenges; no two days are ever the same and I love that about my job.

I get to work for and help the people who need it the most alongside the managers, support workers, domestics and last but not least the kitchen staff here at Surehaven. Since I started I have enjoyed lots of training, for example learning about dementia, mental health training and positive behaviour training and it’s nice to be able to know how to assist some of the residents when they approach me.
