When I was 19 I wanted to be a nurse, but I ended up in Retail Management instead. Now that I am a bit older, I have returned to care and I am currently training my way back up into nursing. I am also the Manual Handling Trainer here at Surehaven and I am also the Dementia Awareness Trainer as well. I feel like I make a difference to people's day at Surehaven and that was something I never felt while working in retail.
I have had previous experience in care and I joined Surehaven as the hours suited me better. I find helping the residents to be very rewarding. I love my job.
I enjoy my job as it lets me meet a variety of people, not only the staff but the residents as well. I have been doing this type of job for over 19 years and I still enjoy every bit of it.
I chose a career in care and support work, as I wanted to give back the care and support I saw my gran receive when she needed it most. I have gained qualifications up to level 3 QCF and want to further my knowledge as I gain more experience at Surehaven.
I originally worked in a hotel but I love to try new things and decided to come to work at Surehaven. It was the best thing I ever did. I love working with Richard in the kitchen and I have enjoyed meeting the residents and the staff and have loved every minute since I first walked in the door.
I chose a career in mental health nursing as I have always been interested in how the mind works. I have now been qualified for 30 years and spent the last 13 years at Surehaven. I enjoy the client dynamics and this is the reason for my long stay here.
I have been in the builders’ trade since I left school and when the job came up about maintenance in a healthcare setting, I was curious about what it would entail, so I went for it and never looked back.
I have always been fascinated by how things worked and if they are broken what can I do to fix them. Every day is a new day and it brings new challenges; no two days are ever the same and I love that about my job.
I get to work for and help the people who need it the most alongside the managers, support workers, domestics and last but not least the kitchen staff here at Surehaven. Since I started I have enjoyed lots of training, for example learning about dementia, mental health training and positive behaviour training and it’s nice to be able to know how to assist some of the residents when they approach me.
I originally started as a carer and when I was no longer able to continue caring, I was offered the job as Activities Champion and I was thrilled! I get to carry on being around the residents and staff and I enjoy doing various activities with them.
I’ve always done care work and when I moved from England to Wales I joined the team at Surehaven and never looked back. Although I haven’t been a deputy for long, I am finding that this is what I want to do. I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else now.
I chose a career in care and support work because I have always been interested in mental health. I hope to be a mental health nurse by doing my QCF at Surehaven. I love my job and don’t plan on going anywhere. I plan on progressing my career within Shaw Healthcare.
I got into working in care, as I wanted to get into mental health. I enjoy working with everyone here and I enjoy the resident’s different characters. I am looking forward to progressing my career within Surehaven and training to be a Mental Health Nurse.
I was at the power station as a cook and my contract was coming to an end, so I went looking around for a new job and spotted the advertisement in Surehaven and the hours suited me perfectly. Since being here, I have loved the interactions with the residents and I love working with Emma and getting on great with management and the other staff. We are a good team here.
I have always liked psychology and I am intrigued by mental health and the general workings of the mind. I like to see how people work. I enjoy my job at Surehaven as I feel over the years I have grown to have a special connection with the staff and residents and I have made some loyal friends. I find my job to be rewarding and it is good getting to know people and what makes them feel good.
I have always loved caring and enjoy helping others. I enjoy listening to the resident's fascinating stories. I have a QCF Level 2 in Care.
I joined Surehaven because I had previous experience in mental health and I like working to help people rather than for the money. I find it a very rewarding job that is very person-centred and it’s a lovely environment. The hours suit my work-life balance and I wouldn’t be anywhere else.
When I moved to the UK, I knew I wanted to work within the care sector, no other job could compare to a job as rewarding as this. My chosen profession is in Biomedical Science and even though I am pursuing that career, I am not giving up this job here in Surehaven as I have a passion for working with people. I get on well with the staff and the residents and I find my job very rewarding.
I chose this career in the Health and Social Care industry because I have a passion for caring for others. Caring for a relative, gave me a drive to care for vulnerable adults, and people who are in need. It’s also my dream to climb the ladder and become a nurse in Mental Health. I enjoy every moment of my job, I find it rewarding. I love to learn new experiences in my role as a support worker.
