When family visit they keep us fully informed and I would recommend this facility to anybody who is looking for care for their family members. Dad is a fussy eater and they ensure they provide something he likes for every meal time.

Overall the care home is warm and friendly and a very safe enviroment. Service users appear well and cared for. I have a couple of negatives but not major or concerning issues. On a recent visit i found my self stuck at the end of the building after attending my relatives room, with no way of returning as all doors were locked i rang emergency bell in the bedroom and in the bathroom, which nobody attended, i had to ring the main telephone line to inform staff i was stuck. I also feel that when posted images of service users to social media, most need their hair brushing. My relatives hair was their crowning glory and it was just so on a daily basis it makes me quite sad seeing photos looking like they have just got out of bed. I totally understand the pressures staff are under, but its surely part of the morning routine . I hope this has been taken as constructive criticism. The home has improved massively and is beautifully presented.You all do an amazing job keeping loved ones safe

We do have visitors fobs and keys that are given to all visitors if they request these from reception. We also have fobs for purchase to keep yourselves which is refunded when these are no longer needed to enable access throughout the home when you visit. If you would like to purchase one of these please ask reception when you next visit, or ask reception for a visitor fob to avoid this happening again. I'm sorry to hear that you feel residents' hair isn't brushed we endeavour to promote independence If they are unable to do this themselves as part of resident's morning routine, we will ensure this is more closely monitored. We have a regular hairdresser that visit twice weekly also.Please speak to us further if you would like to discuss this more.

My father came into this home on a crisis basis. He has mixed dementia and was a bit bewildered. The whole team was very kind, caring and took so much time to make him feel comfortable. Dad is now a permanent resident and he always tells me how good it is to be there, that everyone is nice and that they can't do enough for him. And the most important thing for me as his daughter is that he tells me every time I visit that he his happy to be there. I find the team are always friendly and care so much for the residents.

I feel my mum is finally settling into her new way of life. As I visit regularly, I am getting to know lots of the staff and they are all very welcoming. I did ask a few weeks ago if it would be possible to have tea/coffee-making facilities. I've even offered to bring in my own, realising the kettle must be PAC tested. I also appreciate that a kettle isn't appropriate for all residents, so maybe a fob for visitors to enter the Olive Room?
The Entry. I appreciate that staff aren't always available to answer the doorbell but on the last two occasions, I have had to wait outside in the cold to be let in. A visiting relative drove over from Sutton on Sea and could not gain access as no one answered after 20 minutes. I usually end up having to ring the telephone number to ask for admission. Is there a way a doorbell could be fitted in more areas of the care home with an access button?
The refurbishment is looking good, and we look forward to seeing what happens with the outside garden space.

Samantha Brackenbury began her career as a care assistant at 17 and later earned an Integrated Care degree from the University of Hull, becoming an assistant practitioner supporting care homes and rehabilitation in the community. After completing a Health and Social Care degree from York University, Samantha joined Fairways Care Home in 2017, where she achieved a Level 5 Management Diploma and advanced to Deputy Manager, a role she held for five years. She has served as the Registered Manager of Fairways since 2023.
