My father was recently admitted to Fairways due to suffering a fall at home. Every single member of staff has been amazing; they are all lovely to him and treat him with respect and dignity. When family visit they keep us fully informed and I would recommend this facility to anybody who is looking for
care for their family members. Dad is a fussy eater and they ensure they provide something he likes for every meal time.

Overall the care home is warm and friendly and a very safe enviroment. Service users appear well and cared for. I have a couple of negatives but not major or concerning issues. On a recent visit i found my self stuck at the end of the building after attending my relatives room, with no way of returning
as all doors were locked i rang emergency bell in the bedroom and in the bathroom, which nobody attended, i had to ring the main telephone line to inform staff i was stuck. I also feel that when posted images of service users to social media, most need their hair brushing. My relatives hair was their crowning glory and it was just so on a daily basis it makes me quite sad seeing photos looking like they have just got out of bed. I totally understand the pressures staff are under, but its surely part of the morning routine . I hope this has been taken as constructive criticism. The home has improved massively and is beautifully presented. You all do an amazing job keeping loved ones safe

My mum has recently moved to Overton House. Mum was diagnosed with Dementia a couple of years ago and lived independently, over the last few months it was felt mum was no longer safe to live on her own, as the risks had increased, mums behaviours changed dramatically which we were unable manage.
I
cannot thank all the staff at Overton House enough for the care and compassion they all show my mum and us as a family, understanding how difficult and emotional it can be for us all. The staff are friendly, caring, knowledgeable, supportive, helpful, nothing is too much trouble, they listen to any queries and share updates regarding mum and how she is doing.
The environment is warm and welcoming, residents rooms are decorated well, clean and tidy with a toilet and sink. There are numerous communal areas for residents and families visiting.
I feel so much better knowing that my mum is in a safe caring environment with lovely staff, who get to know the residents as individuals.

From what I've experienced at Cranwell Court; is how fabulous caring accommodating and lovely all staff are , you can tell how much all staff care for the residents in there and how nice they are to family members and talk about memories , every single staff member knows exactly their care users and
how to make them happy and the approaches they use are fabulous, everything is all up to an exceptional standard , The way staff speak to residents and family members is so kind and thoughtful, often talking about shared memories and taking real time to connect. It means so much to families to feel included and listened to, and Cranwell Court does this beautifully. What really stands out is how every member of staff , chefs and cooks included knows their care users so well ; their personalities, preferences, and what makes them happy. The approaches they use are fabulous and clearly tailored to each individual, creating a warm, safe, and happy environment for all. Thank you
Reply from Sharon Long, Registered Manager at Cranwell CourtThank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt and detailed review. We are truly grateful for your kind words about Cranwell Court and our team.

We are especially pleased to know that you have noticed how well our whole team, including our catering staff, understands each resident's personality, preferences, and needs. Providing truly personalised care in a warm, safe, and happy environment is something we are very proud of.

This Care Home specifies it cares for people with Parkinson's.
Unfortunately in my experience their staff are not experienced enough for the care of someone with a difficult illness such as Parkinson's.
This is what my husband experienced between June and Nov.
Within 2 weeks he had a serious UTI.
A urine sample was not taken for 10 days although I was asking and insisting they did. Everyone blamed each other as to why it wasn't dealt with and this meant he didn't get the correct antibiotics for 10 days.He was then ill until September, unable to walk and his cognative thinking became worse.
Weekends were difficult as the home was short staffed which left staff under pressure and resulted in poor care and attention.
Food portions are small, afternoon cakes are tiny and weekends sometimes there was not a warm drink or cake offered in the afternoon as there wasn't a member of staff available to organise it.
Management were made aware of my concern.
I was eventually asked to move my husband.
Reply from Laura Newall, Home Manager at Hampden HouseThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with your experience.

I looked at every nursing home in the Harrogate area and visited some homes, including Hampden, multiple times. I am leaving this review as I would have moved my mother to Hampden House had she not opted to move out of area to be closer to family. The home has very low to no dependency on agency carers/nurses
- this is important for consistency of good care and in marked contrast to some of the other homes in Harrogate. The home is attractive, homely and has a very calm, peaceful feel to it. The manager made time to meet my mother, answer quite in depth questions about care, understood everything and I came away with a positive view of how the home is run.
Reply from Laura Newell, Registered Manager at Hampden HouseThank you very much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review. We truly appreciate you considering Hampden House and for the care and time you took in exploring your options.

We are delighted to hear that you valued our , home and the care provided by our dedicated staff team. Consistency and high-quality, person-centred care are extremely important to us, so it is wonderful to know this stood out to you.

We're also pleased that your visit was helpful and informative, and that you felt confident in how the home is run. Your kind words mean a great deal to our whole team.

While we're sorry that circumstances meant your mother moved closer to family, we completely understand how important that is, and we wish you both every happiness.

Thank you again for your lovely feedback and for recommending Hampden House.

Mum has been at Hampden nearly two years. Although it has taken her time to settle in, she is slowly getting there. This is no reflection on the Home, but more the fact that she is unable to do anything for herself anymore and she finds this difficult. We find the staff very accommodating and friendly,
although at times I do feel that staffing levels are a little low. Any time I/mum has any concerns I take them straight to management and they are addressed immediately. Activities are always good. Mums room is lovely and we are fortunate to have a lovely outlook.
Reply from Laura Newell, Home Manager at Hampden HouseThank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your mums time at Hampden House. We really appreciate your honesty and your kind comments about our team.

We understand how challenging it can be for someone to adjust to a care home, particularly when there has been a significant change in independence, and were pleased to hear that your mum is gradually settling in. Its reassuring to know that you find our staff accommodating and friendly, and that you feel comfortable raising any concerns with management, who are able to address these promptly.

We also appreciate your comments regarding staffing levels and would like to reassure you that we continually review this to ensure we are providing safe, high-quality care and support.

Thank you again for your feedback and for highlighting the activities, environment, and your mums room. Your comments are invaluable to us as we continue to support your mum and all our residents in the best possible way.

Mum has been a resident at Hampden House for almost 2 years now,and she has settled brilliantly.
My family and I couldn't be happier with the care and support she receives.
The facilities are excellent, and the activities provided daily are first class. There is always something each week which suits
everyone. Mum especially enjoys the music events and the bingo.
The home itself is beautifully presented and the gardens are amazing. Perfect for enjoying an afternoon in the sunshine.
Everyone goes out of their way to make sure Mum is happy, and it is so reassuring for us to know that she is safe, cared for, and in such good hands. Thank you everyone, for the wonderful job you do!

My Father was a resident at Overton House for 11 months. He had several health issues and dementia. I can't ever express fully how grateful I am for the care and compassion shown to him during his stay. The rooms and common areas are bright, clean and comfortable. The staff are professional, knowledgeable
and supportive, towards both their clients and their families. They make a huge effort to keep the people in their care stimulated and busy. They organise activities and special events on a regular basis. Residents in the home are always treated as individuals. staff use their name when interacting with them, not generic dear, lovely etc. My father was treated with respect and dignity. I would recommend Overton House to anyone looking for residential care.

they can't do enough for him. And the most important thing for me as his daughter is that he tells me every time I visit that he his happy to be there. I find the team are always friendly and care so much for the residents.
