Vida Hall care for my father who has dementia. He is happy and settled in the home. His room is lovely and the staff are very attentive to his care needs. If he wants to, staff are available to go with him to the local shops. His care plan is very much tailored to his needs which includes allowing
him to wake naturally, assistance with showering and personal care. This personal care plan approach is very important to us and to Dad who does not respond to having his routine set for him. The staff are very kind and caring. Dad feels safe and well looked after. The food is excellent.

My grandma has been a resident in Woodlands, moving into Glades. I was very worried about her at one point, due to her deteriorating. Staff helped me, along with my grandma, Vida have helped me to understand dementia more.
Staff are very helpful, thoughtful and supportive.
I feel safe knowing my grandma
is in such good care, with such loving and committed staff.
The team leader in Woodlands is a star! My grandma is treated with 100% dignity and respect whilst in Vida's care.
Thank you.

Mum moved to Woodlands in Vida Hall in February 2017 and settled in very well. The standard of care and safety and the environment was impressive and staff took time to get to know her as an individual and to support her as her dementia worsened.
Activities could maybe have been improved for her
as an individual. The care she received was generally excellent with some outstanding elements/people.

Mum moved to Glades in September for nursing care.
The nurses and care staff quickly got to know mum and I saw first-hand much of her care as I stayed there almost round the clock for the last 3 weeks of mum's life. The level of professionalism, compassion and efforts to maintain her comfort and dignity at this time and to support us and respect our wishes regarding mum's care were outstanding. As a family, we can't thank the Vida Hall staff enough, from the care providers through to support, admin and management, for looking after mum and which felt like being part of an extended family.

Vida Hall gives the most compassionate, caring, devoted considerate loving individual care. I have never witnessed such care before where they maintain individual dignity, health and enjoyment to all. There are insufficient words to describe the wonderful staff both on the units and the background,
important necessary work by cleaners and laundry workers. The wonderful staff and efficient management team give you the comfort knowing your loved one is in caring hands.

My husband and I cannot speak highly enough about the wonderful care and support given to Mum and my stepfather since they came into Vida. The transition was so much easier than we had anticipated, largely due to the personalised care and attention to detail which enabled them to feel secure and safe
from day one. Staff approach all residents, no matter how challenging their circumstances, with dignity, kindness and compassion.

They make it their business to get to know residents well and to respond to individual needs, often going over and above their work remit to ensure this. The compassion and care shown to mum and my stepfather has been outstanding. As a family, we are kept fully informed about their health and well-being, we feel welcomed, supported and upheld, and very much part of the Woodlands family.

We want to mention too, the attention to detail regarding how residents' rooms and public areas are kept spotlessly clean. This is so very important in how Woodlands feels... a home rather than a care home.

Vida Hall is an excellent care home for those with dementia. Throughout the home, residents are given specialist care and all the staff I have encountered are excellent. My mother lives in Woodland's wing and has been there for a year now. I believe that the staff interact and care for her with a
great deal of understanding of her condition. They have taken time and trouble to get to know her and become aware of her individual needs. As a relative, it is hard to entrust your loved one to the care of others but I am confident and reassured that Mum is very well looked after by genuinely caring people who have her very best interests at heart.

Staff really supportive and care for my uncle extremely well so must all have the patience of saints and caring personalities. Things seem to be run efficiently and whilst he has dementia and the world as he knows it has reduced Its size, he seems happy and content at Vida Hall. When he is agitated

Staff are willing to work with families to ensure the best care for residents they are well meaning and committed to doing their best. Staff know and understand the needs of residents but previous staffing levels and communication between staff has sometimes meant there has been inconsistency complying
with individual care plans. Recently there has been a concerted effort to address this.
Satisfactory gradings for management and care/support reflect a view over time.

My husband has a rare form of Dementia ie Semantic Dementia was admitted by myself to Vida Hall in February 2013. Since then Vida Hall has more than exceeded my highest expectations. The nursing professionals and the carers are excellent and have given amazing care to my husband who is now at the very
advanced stages of Dementia. Families of residents are made very welcome at all hours and kept well informed of residents condition. All are treated with great respect. The facilities are similar to a five star hotel. Residents have spacious carpeted rooms ns access very comfortable lounges. Staff never leave Vilda Hall.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.411)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.411) out of 10 for Vida Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.868 for Vida Hall is calculated as follows: ( (94 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 4.868
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.543 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Vida Hall is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 14 = 0.643
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
