Immediately post-surgery I was too ill to have an opinion but as soon as I began to improve it all fell apart. The physiotherapists were good but they have much too small a space and few facilities - no hydrotherapy. Nowhere to walk and exercise, except up and down the hall - not enough. Terrible food
and boredom and the last straw - mice! Two of them in my room - I left early for that reason - no one did anything - too many agency staff who don't really care. Instead of getting better I got worse and more depressed. An awful place, mostly for long term care patients with Dementia - rehab stuck-on as after-thought.

What an excellent idea coming to Albert Suites.
My daughter suggested two weeks visit after my discharge from hospital in order to regain physical mobility and confidence. Albert Suites has provided expert care and comfort - the facilities are modern, thoughtfully designed and equipped, spotlessly
maintained and all members of the staff provide a warm and sympathetic concern for the residents. Meals are high quality and services such as physio, hairdressing etc are available. There is always an activity each day to keep one interested.
Reply from Angela Wallace, Director at Albert Suites at Battersea PlaceThank you for your kind feedback. I'm so pleased to hear about your stay and the service you received.
With all our best wishes.

My mother who is a rather cantankerous Alzheimer’s patient is staying following an operation for a broken leg. Usually she complains about everything but is loving Albert Suites and being quite beautifully looked after and I was hugely impressed by her nurse. My sister had a problem with one member
of staff, who might have been temporary, but this was dealt with immediately.
I have nothing but praise for this care home.

Sadly from the time of arrival to the moment of leaving, things went wrong. As I left my laundry was locked in the washing machine - still not returned.
Rude staff; abusive shouting in the kitchen, many instances of the emergency button not being answered.
Thursday - the hottest day of the year, told
five minutes before lunch, 'You must eat in your room' - Why? - 'we need the garden and dining room for a party and you're not invited'!
Reply from Steph Larby, Head of Care at Albert Suites at Battersea PlaceThank you for your review and I am very sorry that you did not have an enjoyable stay with us. Let me try and address the various points you raised:

I understand that you were asked to dine in your room because you had your dog with you. Whilst we welcome pets (and acknowledge the role they play in enhancing well-being), we also respect that not all residents share this sentiment and, accordingly, restrict pet access from communal areas such as the restaurant.

Regarding the emergency call bell, we have no record of your using this; you did use the routine bell but, on the several occasions I visited you (to check on your progress and well-being), you made no mention of any delay in staff responding to you, but I will investigate this.

As part of our commitment to creating a variety of entertainment sources for our residents, we did host a party whilst you were here. This was for all of our residents’ enjoyment, so I do not understand why you felt that you were not invited? There was a separate party for the residents who live in the apartments at Battersea Place - perhaps this is where the confusion has crept in? Unfortunately, we did have a one-off incident where catering staff raised their voices; this is unacceptable and upon being made aware of this, I apologised and refunded your family’s meal. We have since spoken with the staff concerned and supported them with further training.

It is my understanding that your laundry has been returned to you and that this has been resolved.

We do appreciate your feedback and would like to invite you and your wife for a complimentary meal in our restaurant by way of apology. Please let me know if you would like to take me up on this offer?

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.226)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.226) out of 10 for Albert Suites at Battersea Place is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.476 for Albert Suites at Battersea Place is calculated as follows: ( (80 Excellents x 5) + (29 Goods x 4) + (14 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 126 Ratings = 4.476
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.75 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Albert Suites at Battersea Place is based on 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.75
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 10 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
