Brook Lodge, Jasmine Unit is currently where my 92-year-old mother is being cared for.
The lady who is in charge has gone above and beyond to help with any problems that have arisen especially during this COVID situation.
My mum truly thinks the world of her ... which is lovely to see.
It is extremely
reassuring to know that they are doing everything to make her as comfortable as possible.
Thank you, Brook Lodge, for all that you do.

My mum has been in Book Lodge since April. The care she is getting is excellent. They treat her as though she is one of their own. My mum could not be in better hands. They have done so much for the wellbeing and needs of my mum. I highly recommend this care home, as all-round it's one of the best.

My mother-in-law was placed at the Jasmine Unit of Brook Lodge in April of this year. Not being able to visit due to the COVID-19 situation made it very challenging especially for our mum and the family as a whole.
The Jasmine Unit staff found a way for us see and communicate with Mum through glass
windows into a sun lounge while we remained outside. Then we got to see her in person on a visit to hospital. We could see from her appearance, her hair, and her skin, that she is being well cared for.
It's extremely difficult for someone going into care for the first time and the staff have helped walk Mum through this journey to a place where she is now settling into her new environment. Throughout this time, the staff have kept us up-to-date with Mum’s state of mind and requirements for her every need.
We appreciate so much the dedicated work the Jasmine Unit have undertaken through this period and would like to say a very big THANK YOU.

My dad was one of the first to go into Brook Lodge when it first opened. He has said he cannot fault the home i.e. the care and compassion is excellent. In fact he’s doing really well and his sense of humour has returned. In short, he’s happy and settled. If anything wasn’t right he would definitely
be able to tell me.

My father was admitted to Brook Lodge only a month ago but has settled in really quickly and is happy. He is full of praise for all of the staff and for the care he receives. I initially visited with my daughter and we were both immediately impressed by the very friendly, happy atmosphere and the care
that was taken to answer all of our questions, even going as far as ensuring that my father could have a room right next to the lounge to cater for his particular needs. My father, who is 94, had lived independently until a recent fall so to settle in so quickly is a testament to the treatment, consideration and kindness he has received from all staff.
Everywhere is beautifully clean and his room has its ensuite, including a wet room shower facility, which is not only very convenient but also ensures that a high degree of privacy and personal dignity are maintained. He is able to choose whether to be in his room or in a communal area which he appreciates. The food menu is good and varied.

My father has been at Brook Lodge since November 2018, after looking at several other care homes in the area, we decided that by far Brook Lodge was the best. My father is very happy there and has settled in very well. The staff are all very very caring and considerate and nothing ever appears to be
to much trouble.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.569)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.569) out of 10 for Brook Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.614 for Brook Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (40 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 57 Ratings = 4.614
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.955 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brook Lodge is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 55 registered maximum number of service users is 11. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 11 = 0.455
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
