I've been here since October 23, the staff have been brilliant the are so caring and really do help you more than some staff but it very rare, The food is lovely and the carers , cleaning staff , team leaders , kitchen staff and maintenance men, The manger all lovely. Really helpful even when it can
be really busy. Nothing is ever too much trouble even when it's Busy. They all need medals

I am a family friend of a resident that is staying in this care home. I went to visit him over the weekend and was amazed how professional all the staff were. He has advanced dementia so he can be a challenge as well as being none verbal which makes it harder. All staff and management treat him with
dignity and respect and have so much patience to make sure he gets the best care at all times. Staff are very approachable and answered all my questions. Would highly recommend.

Our nan has been at Brook Meadows House for nearly a year after being admitted from hospital. She loves it and she has made some lovely friends.
She has had a couple of falls, but she had them at home anyway and as a family we understand that as they age and their mobility declines, it is expected,
but we have appreciated the regular communication we recieve from Debra and the first floor team leaders, in particular Janine and Teresa, it's refreshing.
The home itself is clean and tidy and Nan loves her room, which she has made her own, and as someone who doesn't eat large meals she loves the food they serve.
We can't fault the care staff, they all do amazing work. Their work is fast paced and they have a lot to deal with from monitoring wandering clients who are free to walk around the unit, to overbearing family members who scare other clients by shouting loudly at staff. Norma and Sue are brilliant taking them on regular day trips to Priory Park, the pier etc and doing activities.
Reply from Samantha Ratcliff, Business Development and Support Manager at Brook Meadows House Care HomeThank you for leaving such a positive 5 star review of the home. We are very pleased your Nan has settled well with us at Brook Meadows House and has also made friends with our residents.
The whole team work together to keep all aspects of the home to a high standard. I will be passing on your review to the team and the staff you have mentioned.

Not really getting the point of the meetings, no relevance to families of residents about decor or gardening. Would like to be more detailed about care and behaviour of our resident. Hardly anyone attending so current format not really working.
Reply from Samantha Ratcliff, Business Development and Support Manager at Brook Meadows House Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. The family meetings are intended as a supportive space for families to come together, share feedback, raise any general concerns, and contribute ideas that can help enhance the overall experience within the home. These meetings also provide an opportunity for us to update families on what's happening in the home, such as upcoming events, initiatives, or any changes being made that may affect residents and their families. We understand, however, that the current format may not be meeting everyone's expectations. Your feedback is very helpful, and we will take it into account as we look to make meetings more meaningful and relevant for all.If you would like to discuss anything specific about your loved one's care, we encourage you to do so at any time in a private setting. I can't find any fault in the home at all. When my sister came from the hospital to the assessment unit she was so nervous and lacked in confidence. I started to notice a change in her after about a week. Her confidence started to get better as she was going into the lounge and interacting with other
residents which she has not done in ages. She started to put weight on. She has never been a big eater but she loved the food. The staff where amazing even though they were always busy they always made sure she was ok and comfortable. Team leaders were always there to answer any questions especially the lady with short dark hair, nothing was ever to much trouble and she always kept me updated with any changes with my sister.

Our staff work very hard to ensure all of residents are kept relaxed and comfortable, our on site chef ensures all meals are nutritional and activities are planned to suit. This clearly has had an impact on your sister as her confidence has grown and started to put weigh on.Thank you for your feedback and we wish you all the best.

Overall I think all of the staff seem to work really hard. However of late it has seemed to me that there does not seem to have been as many staff on duty as there use to be. The staff are polite and caring towards my mother, but being busy all of the time detracts from them having the time to sit down
and have an impromptu chat. The room is cleaned regularly and is always nice and warm. The garden is a nice place to sit on sunny days. Food is often not to my mothers taste but she does get offered alternatives which helps, but can become a bit repetitive.
There are a lot of organised activities that residents can join in with. Also one to one time with the activity coordinators for those residents less inclined to join in. Residents choices seem to be respected. Overall my observation and experience of the home and the staff since my mother has been resident is a positive. Any concerns are addressed promptly.
Reply from Samantha Ratcliff, Business Development and Support Manager at Brook Meadows House Care HomeThank you for your kind and positive review. I will speak with our chef to further expand the meal choices available for your mother. In regard to our staffing, you will see a fluctuation of staffing levels on our assessment unit depending on the number of residents that we have at the time. However, I would like to reassure you that our staffing levels are always, at least in line with regulation requirements, if not higher as we regularly assess the unit's workload and team dynamics to determine if there are any gaps that need to be addressed. We take pride in the range of activities our home offers our residents, to ensure that they do get dedicated time spent with them, and our care staff are supported by a wider team of housekeepers and maintenance staff who always take the time to chat to our residents.

My dad has been looked after well here at Brook Meadows House Care Home. The rooms are new and smart and cosy. The staff are caring and attentive. The activities are great and well led with outings, singing, seasonal activities and themed meal lunches. The housekeeping keeps the rooms clean and beds
made frequently. There is a lovely garden area residents can sit out in. A doctor comes in weekly for any medical problems. Dad perked up after being ill and coming to the home and being cared for here. There is a good team of people who also work with the family in drawing up care plans and regular family meetings. I would recommend this home to take care of loved ones.

I have found the care home very interesting. It is a place where dignity and respect to the aged and other residents is required. Sadly, I may not have been truly aware of this. I apologise and will be more careful in future. The home seems impeccable though it is a new build. The service user said
the staff are very helpful without being intrusive. Some of the other residents are friendly, interesting people, happy to talk about themselves. It is rewarding to visit these care homes.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
I visited on 6th September 2023 to see a family friend of whom I am Power of Attorney for.
The purpose of the visit was to talk through the draft documents that had been sent from her Solicitor regarding a Will change and an update to the Power of Attorney, prior to the Solicitors visit in a week's
time.
One of the Team Leaders came into the room to deliver some food and noticed the documents, she left but I assume that she then overheard some of the conversation as the door was open.
A short while later she came back and checked that everything was okay with the resident and very politely and professionally challenged me regarding the content of the conversation I was having to ensure that the resident was not being coerced into signing anything.

I have a background in Adult Safeguarding and this was an excellent response by professional staff who are often very busy with challenging residents.

All credit to her for taking the extra step.

Thank you.
