Byng House is a truly amazing nursing home, all the staff are friendly, helpful and reassuring at a time in life when you feel most vulnerable.
My husband was twice discharged from hospital to Byng House and after spending time at home he returned to Byng House for end of life care.
A very difficult, but most certainly the right decision. I was able to stay with him, he was treated with kindness and compassion.

Heather and Becci provided a safe haven and I thank everyone at Byng House from the bottom of my heart.

'Thank you' seem to be inadequate words to truly express our gratitude for the loving care, compassion and professionalism of every member of staff at Byng House. Our much loved father was admitted for end of life care after being cared for at home for many months. We were anxious and hesitant about this. Within a very short period of time we realised it was the best decision we could have made. His care was exceptional, we have only positive comments for all aspects of his care and will be eternally grateful to the team that carried us through this very difficult and challenging emotional time.

I would like to say thank you for all the care and support and friendship I received during my 6 week stay at Byng House. From arriving feeling very weak and greatly under weight to when I was discharged, feeling really well and having regained a substancial amount of weight and energy. Thanks to all the good food each day. I would like to express my deepest thank you to all the staff who helped and cared for me during my stay.

My father was discharged from hospital to Byng House for palliative care after a stroke and with an advanced cancer. The care he received was exceptional. From the moment he arrived he was valued as a person. Throughout his two month stay he was comfortable and lived in a lovely room, where his family spent time with him, talking and listening to music. Each evening when we left, we were sure Dad would be well cared for until we returned.

For two months Dad actually got better and enjoyed talking to staff, having meals in his room and the restaurant, and going to a concert. Then the cancer symptoms worsened and he was re-admitted to hospital. But the following day he returned to Byng House where he was looked after with great skill, and where he passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family a few days later. We will always be grateful to Byng House for providing truly transformational healthcare for Dad, enabling him to be happy despite an enormously challenging illness.

Mum was transferred from the hospital to Byng House for palliative care after a major stroke. As a nurse myself, I have never come across anywhere like Byng House. So many exceptional human beings working together in one place is so rare, including domestics, kitchen staff, laundry staff, admin staff, nursing staff and carers. Mum was reviewed by a palliative care nurse so that her needs could be met swiftly and appropriately. Mum was kept free of pain and comfortable. Care was delivered with dignity and compassion. It was comforting to know mum had the best care, in a peaceful environment. A bed was put next to my mum's so that I could be there at night. This enabled us to be there when she passed away peacefully at 1.50 am. We have 'peace of mind' knowing Mum was in the right place, at the right time, with the right people. We will always be eternally grateful to the Home Manager and her exceptional team, who were comparable to angels when we needed them the most.

I can not explain the complete satisfaction I have experienced with the care and dedication that every member of staff at Byng House has given to my mum. I will be forever grateful for the care that they gave her, allowing me to go home knowing that she would be comfortable and well looked after. My mother was in Byng House following discharge from the hospital. From first, going to view the place to when my mother went in, you could tell she was going to be cared for well. You hear so many stories about homes but Byng House, from my experience, is the exception to the rule, all the staff were great from the start and treated my mother with the care, compassion and dignity she deserved. The room was clean, and modern, nothing was too much trouble, food good. They even took time to ask how I was doing, and would happily make time for a chat or answer any of my questions. Whilst not able to partake due to her condition, there is a nice dining room and also organised activities. If ever a loved one has to go into a home then this is where I would want them to go.

The care and compassion, the privacy and dignity shown to my mother and myself at a time of life when it is most needed reflects on the standards of Byng House and all the staff.
I cannot express enough praise for this establishment.

It should be a beacon and example to all the NHS, whether this be hospitals, rehabilitation or care homes.

My father ( Des ) was discharged from hospital and spent his last couple of weeks at Byng House. As a family we always thought we would keep my dad at home but in his final days his nursing needs were too great . All the staff I met were kind and compassionate . They treated my dad with respect and made time to keep us updated . We could visit at any time and were always made very welcome . The care was second to none. My dad's passing was dignified and I felt really supported at a very difficult time . My dad was treated as an individual and although he was only there a short time I felt staff really got to know him . I knew that my dad was well cared for. My dad unfortunately couldn't take part in any of the activities or therapy as he was too poorly but I did observe lots of interactions with staff and residents. I can not thank Byng house enough. You only get one chance to make a death a positive experience and they did this perfectly . Amazing home and amazing staff .

The quality of care and nursing support at Byng House was (is) outstanding. I cannot find fault in anything at this care facility. The staff are incredibly attentive, well-trained and provide a full care package to all the residents. The management and admin team run the home with precision functionality. Mention must also be made of the support staff, cleaners, cooks and the ladies in the washing area providing excellent support to the running of this facility. My wife passed many weeks here, entering Byng House a very sick and frail person.
She leaves with very much improved health, ready to face the challenges ahead.
My thanks to all the team at Byng House, you are all amazing and making a real difference for people that are lucky enough to spend time with you.

With love.

My husband is waiting for his belongings to be delivered as promised. It is taking some time for this to happen - over two weeks now.

My husband was satisfied to be at Byng House. He found the staff to be available when needed. Loved having a television in his room and the view of the promenade from his bedroom was enjoyable for him.

Wonderful location on the promenade, enclosed garden with lots of birds. Rooms well decorated and comfortable. Staff well trained and very friendly and caring. It is more like a wonderful family than a nursing home. Activities organiser is exceptionally good and office staff are very friendly.

My brother has only been in Byng House for just over two weeks, I cannot thank you enough for the care you are giving him. Although my brother is on end-of-life. I have seen an improvement in him, he looks so clean and comfy. When he was in hospital, I kept asking them to shower and shave him, he never got that in the weeks he was in there. When I saw my brother for the first time, I thought I had walked into the wrong room, he was shaven and was lovely and clean, I can't thank you and your caring staff enough for caring for my brother. I know when the time comes he would not have had any pain and will go peacefully.
