Cherry Grove Nursing Home

Carers and nurses trying their best to get dad to take medication and hygiene, but he still wants his dignity.

I personally feel its hard to know what to expect when you think of going to a care home. You don't know where to go once you pull up in the car park. You don't know how your loved one will be, how they will react seeing you, if they remember you, and even your name.

I can honestly say, this care home, has such dedicated staff, so caring, so loving, such warm in every interaction. They work very hard. I can only imagine its a demanding and challenging role at times, but this doesn't show in the visits ive had here.

Its free parking, it has 2 different areas that the residents can rest, chat, play and eat that I have seen. They are both ample in size so it doesn't feel crowded, and they have lots of windows letting light in. There is a different menu each day, and my friend I visit speaks highly of the food.

(I have not rated 2 questions asked, as I haven't seen the rooms, and I don't know the costs, I know there is activities available to do, but ive not personally seen them)

The staff at Cherry Grove Care Home are always welcoming. They always give me an update on how my mum has been and to whether she has eaten well or had an off day but they always try to encourage her. I am always updated by the nurses if there is going to be a change in medication or if she has not been very well. They have a hairdresser that comes every Wednesday, my mum likes to have her hair done. It's nice to visit on this day to see all the residents with there hair done and they give you a smile when you walk in. The chefs that cook the meals are really nice. The menu is really good and there is a good choice of food for them all. The laundry is done of site. They have a activity person that comes everyday. Well done to all the team for there calm approach to a well run home.

My dad went into Cherry Grove after being unwell in hospital with dementia. My dad lost a lot of weight during this time and became very frail + anxious. Since joining Cherry Grove my dad has gained a healthy stone in weight and now eats regular meals in the dining room. He always looks clean and healthy when I go to see him and the staff have always be kind and helpful. We are very happy with the care he has received and he seems much happier in himself.

All staff caring and kind, nothing was ever too much trouble. The home is bright and clean; being allowed to take personal possessions and display photographs on the walls was a considerate touch.

I am impressed with how from enquirey for mum, viewing care home/room and moving into Cherry Grove has gone. Excellent communication from management and staff. Mum has settled in very well. Thank you all very much.

After a hip operation the stay in Cherry Grove was a relief for family. The patient was treated with dignity and respect and needs were met making the recovery easier and was a very pleasant stay. The staff always met you with a smile. Best care home I've ever visited.

I like the way I am met at the door and always offered a drink. I like the way they let my friend come to the door to see me off as if it is her home, like she always did in her home.

I want to express my thanks for the delicious meal that I enjoyed with my mum on Mothers Day 15th March. The 2 course meal was served in a prompt and friendly manner. We ate really tender lamb with mint sauce, potatoes, brussels and carrots all cooked well plus plenty of gravy with more offered. We had a tasty hot dessert with a lovely caramel custard. Congratulations to the chef for a fantastic meal!

The staff are all very friendly and very good wtih the residents. The home is always clean and tidy. Mum seems really settled and happy. Food is good and varied.

We would like to give a special mention for Leigh at the care home, for her help and advice. Our mother has really taken to Leigh, and can make a conversation with her and our mother understands her.

The pre christmas carol service was superb, quite loud in the Lounge too loud for some so the wonderful staff and manager went off and came back with chairs for us and put us in the corridor in view of the local band. Sitting next to my wife, I saw that she was now enjoying herself - even trying to sing along with the band. The staff at all times were very attentive to make sure my wife was okay - 'she was'. I've never seen her smile so much. Following the carol service, we went into the dining room where a finger buffet had been laid out, such a wonderful sight so much to choose from - the kitchen staff had prepared for a taster - needless it was a wonderful day, my wife really enjoyed it, never seen her smile so much in years. Thank you.

The Care Home have been absolutely great. They are so supportive to her and our family, and nothing is too much trouble. She is happy there, and is eating really well. Cherry Grove staff keep me informed about every step of her care, and go out of their way to help.
