From the day my Aunt was assessed by staff from Gillingham Grange I felt confident about the high standard of communication, care & kindness. She has been a resident there for the past month, she is very settled & the family are reassured that she is receiving the best & most appropriate care. The staff
are also very supportive of family visiting, offering information, meals & snacks during visits. The building is spacious & light with easy access to the outside spaces. My Aunt's room has plenty of storage space & feels homely & individual. The most important thing is the kindness & efficiency of the staff members.

My mother went to Gillingham Grange for respite care after a fall and broken hip, but during treatment it became clear that she was much more unwell than we had realised, so her stay was extended.
Although this has all been very stressful, Gillingham Grange and its staff have been a real source of
support.
The building is new and feels more like a hotel than a care home. The rooms are thoughtfully designed-spacious enough to be comfortable while still feeling cosy. The shared areas, like the private rooms, are bright and welcoming. The games rooms and cinema room have been a real source of enjoyment for my mother and her great-grandchildren during visits.
The staff matter most-and they have been exceptional. It is not just a few individuals; the whole team is clearly committed to providing the highest standard of care and companionship. They are always a pleasure to deal with and have shown great kindness to my mother during this difficult time and I cannot thank them enough.
Reply from Amanda Whyte, General Manager at Gillingham GrangeWhat a lovely review Steven. Thank you. I will pass on your kind words to the team. Look forward to seeing you soon.

Staff have been friendly and helped Mum settle in.
Food is rated highly by Mum and overall both she and I are impressed by the level of care.
As a new building, it has everything you would expect and is of a high standard.
One issue reported by Mum was a night-shift lady, who complained that she
had lots of residents to look after. This was when Mum had pushed her button as she couldn't reach her water when in bed, due to weakness in her arms. Mum ended up crying and upset that the lady might always behave like this.
There don't seem to many activities, however it was explained that this would ramp-up as more residents joined.
Reply from Amanda Whyte, General Manager at Gillingham GrangeThank you for taking the time to leave such thoughtful feedback about your mum's stay with us. We are very pleased to hear that both you and your mum were impressed with the overall level of care, the friendliness of our team, and the quality of the food and facilities within our home.
We are, however, very sorry to hear about your mum's experience with a member of our night team. This is not the standard of care, compassion, or reassurance we aim to provide to any resident. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and would always encourage any concerns to be reported directly to management at the time so they can be addressed promptly and appropriately.
You will soon meet our new activity team members and will continue to see a lot more fun going on here at Gillingham Grange.

See you soon. Amanda

My mother is now resident here, having moved from their sister home in Yeovil following my fathers passing.. What can I say. It is superb, like a hotel. The quality of care is superb. Amanda the manager is excellent and fully committed to running a quality , fully supported home for your loved ones.
They have brilliant staff ,who interact with my mother excellently , as she is not always the easiest (( being an ex-midwife). She is very happy and settled, what more can I ask for? I have no negatives they have been brilliant with mum and helped her through a difficult time , she and my father were together for 70 years.
Reply from Amanda, General Manager at Gillingham GrangeThank you so much for your lovely review. We are so happy to hear how settled Mum is and your very positive experience of Gillingham Grange. I will ensure I pass your kind words onto the team and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

I think it is a very good home with very friendly and helpful staff. The manager and front of house lady are both very helpful. The home is well furnished and decorated. The food is also good with a good choice. I have had a meal there and really enjoyed it. I feel it is quite expensive but I suppose
you get what you pay for and you are getting a lot.

This lovely home has been designed for the safety and comfort of the residents - outside pathways and carpets easy to walk and push frames on. Dining chairs chairs and sofas comfortable and easy to get out of. Seating in lots of places. The rooms have comfortable beds, plenty of storage and big practicle
washrooms. Everywhere is designed for easy cleaning. Very important there is more staff to each residents than normal ensuring the residents needs are met quicker and manageable and the staff are happy and not exhausted! Amanda the manager and Tracey front house manager are very helpful, kind and lead a team caring for their staff with enthusiasm and co-operation. All the staff are polite, kind, patient and provide care and enjoyment with daily tasks and activities. The food is a high standard, enjoyable, tasty and good choice. The gardens are attractive and well cared for and the patio seating great for the summer as residents can easily approach from the doors is their rooms and bring pleasure looking at through their windows. Residents can have a phone is their rooms, hairdresser, chiropodist, newspapers all in the price.

I would highly recommend Gillingham Grange. It is clean, fresh, and the facilities are amazing. The staff are the shining star; however, they are warm and caring, always happy to sit and chat through updates and always smiling. The interaction between staff and residents is truly special to witness.
The food is incredible also, and the rooms are spacious and fresh. Thank you to all of you for making this transition so smooth and, above all, caring and respectful.

I was so impressed when I first visited my mother-in-law, from decor and rooms, to the wonderful management and all staff. Very welcoming and friendly, always asked if I wanted drink/cake or bisuit, food looks amazing. The residents are always supplied with snacks + drinks. The cinema room is excellent,
activities to choose form, outings for residents 'weather permitting'. Doctors visits each week, hair salon, family rooms for visitors to dine with their loved ones. I highly recommend Gillingham Grange to anyone.

Very polite and helpful, all staff + management are friendly always welcome you, providing beverages biscuits + cake, nothing is too much trouble.

My mother initially moved in for 2 weeks' respite care. After 3 days she loved Gillingham Grange Care Home and staff so much she decided to make it her permanent home. As the single carer for my mother I would never be able to give my mother this level of care and support. Thanks to the wonderful staff
I can now go back to being her daughter and enjoy our time together chatting and going out rather than doing all the jobs a carer does.

From the very minute my Dad stepped into Gillingham Grange in Chard to view the new care home, he was instantly taken under their wings.
It was immediately obvious to Amanda, that my Dad urgently needed care and somewhere safe, warm and attentive that could meet his needs, in fact, she knew it was
not safe for him to go back to his home to collect some belongings.
Amanda and her team have gone above and beyond to assist my Dad in his journey back to health. Every detail with regards his care and medical needs is safely in their hands; well managed and communicated with all professional bodies.
Living so far away, I can take great comfort knowing that Dad is in the most thoughtfully thought out care home; spatial yet homely with rooms that are modern and functional which is complimented with the most amazing, professional, compassionate, attentive carers who provide warmth, dignity and encouragement every day.
Other members of staff also contribute hugely to this wholesome environment.

I spent Christmas week at Gillingham Grange having asked for respite care, respite from caring and cooking for myself. The reception I received from the staff, whether management or care, without exception, was out of this world (divine?) their kindness, solitude, smiles made me feel so welcome. It
was a real treat from living alone with pulmary fibrosis.

From the first time we walked through the door, we got that feeling and knew it was the right place for my mum. The no team are not just carers: they are friends who truly listen and want to improve the resident's lifes. Simply stunning place which has swept away the old concept of what a care home
was like 20 years ago. - somewhere you had to go rather want to go it. The level of care is exceptional and genuine, and good wonderful.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.772) out of 10 for Gillingham Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.872 for Gillingham Grange is calculated as follows: ( (166 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 187 Ratings = 4.872
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Gillingham Grange is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
