Thimbleby Court is a 58-bed care home situated in the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds. Located in a quiet residential area of the market town of Horncastle, the surrounding area is beautiful with many places of interest to visit. The home has been designed to provide luxurious accommodation in a homely environment for older people who have social or personal care needs.

Thimbleby Court welcomes people who require personal and social care; including people living with dementia or who need specialist end-of-life care. They also welcome people for short stays to provide respite for carers or to help with the transition from home to permanent living.

At Thimbleby Court, the team supports residents to live full and active lives, participating in activities that are important and meaningful to them. Each person living at the home is encouraged to be involved in planning their individual support, and the team takes the time to get to know residents to foster a sense of family and inclusion. They believe that families, friends and community links are crucial, and work to ensure that residents continue to maintain relationships with those who are significant to them. This is an essential part of their holistic approach to care.

Working with support networks in the community, such as GP surgeries, community nurses, and other professionals, the team ensure that residents have access to essential services when they are needed. They also welcome community groups and encourage intergenerational connections with local schools and nurseries. Thimbleby Court and its team strive to become part of the local community and will form strong friendships with neighbours as the home develops.

Overall I enjoyed my 4 weeks in Thimbleby Court. I will be happy to return. The staff were always helpful, supportive and friendly. Sometimes there appeared to be a shortage of food at breakfast. The food was adequate. Thank you for making my stay so enjoyable.

My father has been a resident of Thimbleby Court for 2 years now, being a purpose built home, the facilities and safety are excellent. My dad is always treated respectfully and has built good relations with the staff, who are always welcoming to family and appear happy in their work. Visits are usually
fun, filled with much laughter, especially during the regular activities and events held at Thimbleby Court.

Mum has been welcomed with open arms, nothing has been too much trouble, and we all as a family have been made to feel very welcome. The surroundings, rooms and different areas are beautiful and the staff are wonderful. Mum is certainly very happy.

At 102 and partially sighted, my mother still wanted independence (in her own home). Thank goodness that she was persuaded to go to Thimbleby Court initially for 2 weeks and shortly afterwards on a permanent basis. It helped that everywhere looked clean and spacious, including her comfortable room,
and later that her own possessions, including pictures and even her electric reclining chair, made the room more homely. There are so many positives, the staff were all caring and helpful, facilities are excellent and the whole place is purpose-built. An unexpected plus was for my 2 giant breed dogs (loved by mum) to be welcomed into the home. In the last 3 weeks mum has been on palliative care and all the staff, especially nursing staff, were excellent, treating her with tenderness and dignity. The whole family have expressed genuine gratitude for the way mum has been treated. We thoroughly recommend Thimbleby Court.

As Mum has been a resident for several months, following a difficult time at home, she is now very happy in her new home. Mum enjoys the food, and enjoys the rapport she has with the staff. She tells me they are very kind and good to her and she doesn't want to live on her own again. This has made the

Mum moved to Thimbleby Court in May 2024 from another care home. It was a difficult decision as she was fairly settled in her previous environment but her room lacked private facilities and was cramped.
We have been highly impressed with Thimbleby Court. The en-suite room is spacious and airy with
access to an enclosed courtyard. The decor is subtle and understated, the facilities and activities are excellent and the staff are kind, attentive and professional. We appreciate the attention to detail and the interest shown in Mum's welfare and feel that she will be more settled once her worry about the move has been resolved. She has struggled to adjust to the new routines as she still remembers the way things used to be done but we are more than certain that the benefits of being here will ultimately be accepted.
We have the utmost confidence in the ethos and the team at Thimbleby Court.

Right from our initial visit to the care home we were made to feel welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They dealt professionally with the resident and listened to what was required with full and clear information regarding every aspect of the care home. It is such a lovely and comfortable

The decision to place my wife in care was one of the most difficult I have ever made. Fortunately, my search coincided with the opening of Thimbleby Court within a mile of my home.
I arranged a viewing and, from the outset, was impressed by the facilities on offer and the warm and caring attitude of
the staff and management.
My wife entered the home in March last year and, apart from the odd hiccough in the early days, all has gone smoothly. She is happy, well fed and enjoying the various activities arranged for the residents by Glenholme staff.
The treatment that I receive during my many visits is unfailingly polite, warm and empathetic.
Family members who have visited always remark upon the cleanliness and quality that is on offer comparing it to that of a 5-star hotel.

What a stunning residential care home. The food is amazing, always something going on. The staff properly looked after my dad in his stay there and were caring right to the end. More staff to cover weekends is the only thing you could improve on.

After giving twelve ratings below, there's little else to say, other than Thimbleby Court is the absolute best place I saw on my recent quest to find respite care for my husband, who had not settled or been happy in his previous home. Every single thing that I was told was available or would happen,
actually did. Can't praise the home enough.

Hazel has 35 years of clinical experience as a registered nurse and has been a care home manager since 2003. Hazel is passionate about the care of the elderly and has served with Glenholme since 2018.


Hazel and her team staff have undergone extensive checks prior to employment to ensure that they have the skills and qualities we require when working with older and vulnerable people. They are trained in moving & handling, health & safety, food hygiene, basic first aid, abuse awareness (safeguarding), administering medicine, infection control and the care certificate as well as other bespoke training as required.
