A dear friend of 30 years standing with no close family, spent his last 3 months at Thimbleby Court. Whilst his health issues prevented him from taking part in many activities, whilst visiting him I was very impressed with what was on offer. At all times he was treated with kindness and respect, as I was also when visiting him.

A very good experience staying here. The only downside was the radiators malfunctioned during the night, kept banging.

Excellent smiley staff, all very helpful and friendly. Visitors were also treated kindly with teas coffees and cakes.

Reply from Hazel Whittaker, Registered Manager at Thimbleby Court Care Home

Thank you for your kind review I am pleased you enjoyed your stay. We do occasionally have air in the radiators which can cause a noise. This is easily fixed so I will inform staff what they need to do should it happen at night when maintenance staff are not here.

Very grateful that my husband and myself were able to have rooms with you so quickly and smoothly. Most of the care was very good and professional which was most appreciated. There were a few problems but these were generally sorted out. There were times when the staffing levels were inadequate and this put a strain on the carers and had a knock on affect on the residents. Generally I am very pleased with the care I had.

I spent two weeks in respite at Thimbley Court, accompanying my wife, who had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's four years earlier. My aim was to familiarize her with the care home, so that, should I no longer feel able to care for her or simply need a short time away from our apartment, there would be a place she is happy to go to. This hope was realised, as she felt she was very well looked after, especially during the three days I spent away visiting my sister. Staff were very friendly and supportive, always ready to give time to individuals' needs, whatever the pressures on them. My only reservation was the eating arrangements: while I appreciate the problems of serving assorted residents with a variety of disabilities, meals in the dining room were often a fairly tedious experience, with staff simultaneously serving us and sorting out food for those who were bedridden. Some managed this better than others. Overall, a positive experience, and my thanks to all who looked after us.

Overall I enjoyed my 4 weeks in Thimbleby Court. I will be happy to return. The staff were always helpful, supportive and friendly. Sometimes there appeared to be a shortage of food at breakfast. The food was adequate. Thank you for making my stay so enjoyable.

My father has been a resident of Thimbleby Court for 2 years now, being a purpose built home, the facilities and safety are excellent. My dad is always treated respectfully and has built good relations with the staff, who are always welcoming to family and appear happy in their work. Visits are usually fun, filled with much laughter, especially during the regular activities and events held at Thimbleby Court.

At 102 and partially sighted, my mother still wanted independence (in her own home). Thank goodness that she was persuaded to go to Thimbleby Court initially for 2 weeks and shortly afterwards on a permanent basis. It helped that everywhere looked clean and spacious, including her comfortable room, and later that her own possessions, including pictures and even her electric reclining chair, made the room more homely. There are so many positives, the staff were all caring and helpful, facilities are excellent and the whole place is purpose-built. An unexpected plus was for my 2 giant breed dogs (loved by mum) to be welcomed into the home. In the last 3 weeks mum has been on palliative care and all the staff, especially nursing staff, were excellent, treating her with tenderness and dignity. The whole family have expressed genuine gratitude for the way mum has been treated. We thoroughly recommend Thimbleby Court.

As Mum has been a resident for several months, following a difficult time at home, she is now very happy in her new home. Mum enjoys the food, and enjoys the rapport she has with the staff. She tells me they are very kind and good to her and she doesn't want to live on her own again. This has made the family's decision to place her in a care facility a much easier one.

Mum moved to Thimbleby Court in May 2024 from another care home. It was a difficult decision as she was fairly settled in her previous environment but her room lacked private facilities and was cramped.
We have been highly impressed with Thimbleby Court. The en-suite room is spacious and airy with access to an enclosed courtyard. The decor is subtle and understated, the facilities and activities are excellent and the staff are kind, attentive and professional. We appreciate the attention to detail and the interest shown in Mum's welfare and feel that she will be more settled once her worry about the move has been resolved. She has struggled to adjust to the new routines as she still remembers the way things used to be done but we are more than certain that the benefits of being here will ultimately be accepted.

We have the utmost confidence in the ethos and the team at Thimbleby Court.

Right from our initial visit to the care home we were made to feel welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They dealt professionally with the resident and listened to what was required with full and clear information regarding every aspect of the care home. It is such a lovely and comfortable place, great food and so much to entertain the residents.

The decision to place my wife in care was one of the most difficult I have ever made. Fortunately, my search coincided with the opening of Thimbleby Court within a mile of my home.
I arranged a viewing and, from the outset, was impressed by the facilities on offer and the warm and caring attitude of the staff and management.
My wife entered the home in March last year and, apart from the odd hiccough in the early days, all has gone smoothly. She is happy, well fed and enjoying the various activities arranged for the residents by Glenholme staff.
The treatment that I receive during my many visits is unfailingly polite, warm and empathetic.

Family members who have visited always remark upon the cleanliness and quality that is on offer comparing it to that of a 5-star hotel.

What a stunning residential care home. The food is amazing, always something going on. The staff properly looked after my dad in his stay there and were caring right to the end. More staff to cover weekends is the only thing you could improve on.

Thank you.

After giving twelve ratings below, there's little else to say, other than Thimbleby Court is the absolute best place I saw on my recent quest to find respite care for my husband, who had not settled or been happy in his previous home. Every single thing that I was told was available or would happen, actually did. Can't praise the home enough.
