Kingsacre Care Home

Environment is clean and well-kept and seems to run well to set timings. Some residents, my parent included could use some additional assistance when using the bathroom, for example, as included to fail in various hygiene contexts, this would require more one-to-one checks on individuals as my parent is still mobile and can go to the bathroom themselves (most of the time). Staff are polite and friendly and seem kind to the residents. Mealtimes work well, although there is frustration at times from my parent as they are taken to sit in the dining room for around an hour before food is actually served, this seems a bit unnecessary for mobile residents. It would be good if family could be provided some way of seeing each day what their residents has eaten, even online access to the daily menu would be useful as my parent cannot discuss his meals due to memory issues.

My dad arrived at Kingsacre in May '26 in a very poor mental and physical condition, (he wanted to give up) since then his condition has improved incredibly, he has put on weight, due to kitchen staff catering to his every need, his mental health is extremely positive, due to every member of staff who comes into his room conversing and joking with him, he is currently now writing a children's book for his 2 great grandaughters, practising his piano to play xmas songs for the residents, taken up sketching and now drawing the staff's portraits. I cannot thank all the staff enough for their love, kindness, support and genuine caring, this man was given a "Just in Case" unit in early June! Kingsacre saved his life and I am truly grateful. He is no longer completely bed ridden and is exercising and practising walking with his zimmer. He feels safe and is very content to be there. The home is in beautiful surroundings, lovely inside too and is kept very clean.

The care home is always spotlessly clean, and the staff are friendly, approachable, and caring. There is a great variety of activities available for the residents, which is lovely to see. I always feel reassured knowing that my mum is well cared for and looked after.

My Husband has Alzheimer's but he seems to dress himself in the morning & sometimes wears the same clothes 2 or 3 days in a row. So not sure how regularly clothes are washed. However, these are minor issues when my Husband is content there.

Kingsacre Care Home is excellent . All the staff are lovely & pleasant . The residents are all well looked after , the menu is great giving residents a choice to choose from , and different activities going on . This is good as the residents can join into any of the activities & socialise with others. The home is well decorated & maintained , to a very high standard . There is also lovely garden areas . Would highly recommend .

The facilities and activities provided are first class.

Our family have experienced a very positive outcome since mum became a resident of the home about five months ago. The care and attention she receives is excellent and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. The home is very well kept, with all rooms having their own en-suite facilities. As a family we could not ask for anything better. Mum has settled in well and gets involved in some of the day to day activities too.

Well done Kingsacre.

Our mother, who is cognitively impaired, has lived in Kingsacre for almost 4 years - Balmoral Suite. The love, care and personal attention she received is just excellent - her recent 93rd birthday was testament to that professional and loving care. The day was made memorable for her and for us as her 3 sons. Thanks to both Balmoral care team and activities personnel - although mum had cognitive impairment, stroke and amycold mix, she is content and comfortable - mum eats and drinks well assured. Personal care top notch down to her pigtails. Blend of Scottish care staff with Caribbean and North African staff 2 years in special visa contract produces outstanding consistent day to day care. We feel fortunate as a family that K.A is a care home we can entrust our mother to - to make this her home.

My aunt receives excellent care. The staff are all very welcoming and attentive. I do feel sometimes there can be breakdown in communication, but any issues are resolved quickly. The home has a calm feel about it. I was pleased to receive communication about a permanent manager, although there were no issues with the temporary ones. I feel consistency is essential in the care environment. I am kept up to date with any health matters or issues. My aunt chooses not to join in the activities, she doesn't see herself as requiring care and likes to be independent which is encouraged.

From my aunt being assessed in hospital for Kingsacre to her entry, very professional. All the staff in the care home have always kept us up to date on her latest health issues. The home is in a quiet location. Social activities are good. Never been in for dinner, but lunch looked great. Always plenty of staff on hand to make sure residents are attended too. All in all a great place for my aunt.

My relative has been a resident at Kingsacre since December 2024 and has settled into this environment as well as could be expected. I find the staff who care for residents are extremely caring, respectful and engaging with residents. Other staff members ie housekeeping etc are also very pleasant and helpful. I have peace of mind my relative is safe and well looked after which is all I can ask for.

My mum joined the Kingsacre family in April after spending last summer there in respite. She has Alzheimer's and has been cared for by my dad and us until it became too much for her. Kingsacre has settled her in well, including activities and days out. My dad visits most days and they have made him feel so welcome which has been so comforting for him as putting my mum into care was such a hard and upsetting decision for him and us.

This is the best care home I've ever seen. It's a real relief to know that my gran lives in a place with staff who genuinely care for her and her needs, keeping her safe and responding quickly in emergencies. The facilities and activities are great, but it's the staff who make it what it is. Keep up the good work!

Every member of staff I've met go above and beyond for the residents, I can't fault them at all. They are all wonderful. They welcome visitors with open arms and make you so welcome. They also love my wee dog when he visits with me. Fantastic care home 100%.

From the minute my mum became a resident, everything has been amazing - the staff really care about the residents and treat us like family. It was the best decision for my mum to go to the best home - thank goodness we found that in Kingsacre - I can't recommend this place highly enough.

I have been a regular visitor to a dear friend since August 2019. Both my friend and her sister received an excellent standard of care throughout their time at Kingsacre. From the staff who welcomed them in 2019, who are still working at the home, to the staff who cared for my friend after her sister’s death. Sadly she, too, has now passed but survived her sister for almost five years. Throughout those years, Kingsacre staff built her up after a hospital stay and supported us throughout the COVID pandemic. Always appreciated the ‘open door’ policy of the manager and the approachability of all staff. Any issues were listened to and dealt with. Two words only - Thank you.

Since I am a reasonable distance from the care home and don't manage to visit too often I have requested a phone connection in the room. To date nothing has happened other than that I found the home and staff to be very good.

Mum has settled into Kingsacre reasonably well, however, after an incident of assault by another resident she became a bit unsettled. One of her primary care requirements was to ensure she had her hearing aids in daily and I had to feedback many times to staff and management to ensure this was done before it was carried out. She now needs encouragement to put them in as she fears losing them.
