My mother is still living independently with carers, but I recently visited Merceode Lodge to be shown round for a potential move for mum when it becomes appropriate. I received a very friendly and professional welcome and was taken round the building. I was extremely impressed by the standard of rooms,
facilities available and value for money that the place offers. It has a lovely, spacious and calm atmosphere and I admire the staff a great deal. Thank you.
Reply from Helen Chapman, General Manager at Merceode LodgeThank you Lynda for your kind feedback and we hope we will be able to support Mum when the need arises. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any further support.

My 95 year-old Mum is just coming to the end of a planned 4-week stay at Merceode Lodge. She has absolutely loved her time there, getting involved with the activities and interacting with the staff who all display immense patience and a caring and helpful attitude.
Her room was very well laid out,
the bed was comfortable and height adjustable and the bathroom facilities were well-suited to her age..
The food has been of very high quality with lots of variation, and special care has been taken with my Mum's meals as she is diabetic.
Everything is very clean and it's clear that hygiene is taken very seriously
Visitors are welcomed and there is a secure entry and exit system for the safety and security of staff and residents.
I am very happy to recommend Merceode Lodge, with a big thank you to all the staff for their kindness and consideration.
Reply from Helen Chapman, General Manager at Merceode LodgeThank you so much Andy for your kind words! We loved having Mum to stay and you are all welcome back any time.

I cannot rate Merceode Care home highly enough. We had to find urgent respite care for my father in law. The moment we walked in for a look around and were welcomed so warmly by Helen we knew it was the right place. The home is managed with love and compassion by Helen and Conor. They and the whole
team are friendly, warm, caring and go out of their way to overcome obstacles and to provide individualized care. The atmosphere is calm, the decor is attractive, the food is amazing. We as a whole family were treated with immense kindness in what was a very difficult time. Our family member passed away there after a short stay. We are so grateful he was there and experienced such wonderful care. I would not hesitate to recommend this exceptional home.

My mother now having been with you for a month, is very happy with all the facilities and staff. I know not more I need to say, except that putting together 200 words, can not embellish a good facility more.

Mum needed a little bit of extra care and help following a fall, and I was due to go away for a few days. I visited Merceode Lodge, and was very impressed from the moment I walked in. I decided to choose them for mums respite, and I couldn't be happier with everything they have done for her. All the
staff are amazing, and can't do enough for mum at all times. The room is perfect, the so is the rest of the home. The food is always fantastic and freshly prepared at each mealtime. I would recommend to anyone.

We moved mum into the home today and I have to be honest I was really worried and anxious about it, but I really needn't of worried at all. We were made so welcome and the staff are amazing and very approachable. The whole place is immaculate. We were invited to join her for lunch as part of the settling
process, which was a delight. I know she will be looked after which is a huge weight off of my mind. Thank you.

I was very lucky to be invited to the Merceode Lodge opening day because I was looking for a dementia care home for my mum. The minute I stepped through the front door I was blown away by the feel and the design, the staff and the facilities. I knew it would be the the perfect place for my mum. It
was important that mum would be stimulated to help keep her mind active and the activities on offer certainly have helped. She loves the crafts, singing and making new friends. The Lodge isn't currently full but I think even when it is it will still feel calm and the staff will still have time for the residents. The food is amazing, so I have no worries that mum isn't eating properly the chef came and introduced himself in the first hour of us arriving. Merceode certainly breaks the mould of old fashioned nursing homes. Huge thank you to the team for getting my mum in residence within 2 weeks of my visit.

I cannot thank Merceode lodge enough. I have been trying for years to get the help support that my Aunt needs from professionals, she was there less than 24 hours and they already put things in place for her.
They are accommodating helpful and friendly. I hope that when I need to go into a home
I can go into somewhere like this.
Thank you

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.680)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.680) out of 10 for Merceode Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.971 for Merceode Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (135 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 139 Ratings = 4.971
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.709 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Merceode Lodge is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2. 12 Positive Reviews ÷ 13.2 = 0.909
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
