Overall Experience
My mum and dad have been in Sycamore Park since 2021 - 18 months - two and a half years respectively. They have sadly both passed away and were both treated with respect and dignity. The care they received was excellent. The staff were amazing - very caring. The only suggestions I would make is to improve the selection of food and maybe offer a menu and get things that residents particularly like. Nothing was too much trouble for the manager and the team.

We will recommend Sycamore Park. Thank you.

My relative was a resident at Sycamore Park Care Home from 2.10.2020 till he died, aged 90 last month. From my initial phone call with a lady to discuss the possibility of him becoming a resident, I could sense from her helpful, positive attitude that the staff genuinely cared about the welfare and safety of their residents - thus making the decision to choose Sycamore Park very easy to make. He was happy and contented throughout his stay - right from the lovely welcome extended to him on day one. We are eternally grateful to the manager and the entire team.

My dad has been at Sycamore Park for nearly a year now. They do a really good job of looking after him. The food is great, and they have occasional trips out. They pay attention to what my dad is interested in, for example, they knew he likes a bus trip, so arranged for him to ride on the service bus with a carer around the town. They made a big effort for the Coronation, trimming up the lounge. It looked super. If you want to see what they get up to on a day-to-day basis - fun get-togethers and activities - you should have a look at their Facebook page, where lots of nice photos are posted regularly.

Reply from Mark Anderson, Deputy Manager at Sycamore Park Care Home

Thank you so much for this lovely review, Jenny, and your kind words! I am delighted that Dad enjoyed his trip out - our well-being team constantly strives to identify and achieve residents' wishes, no matter how big or small! Again, thank you for your feedback; it means a lot to all staff at Sycamore Park.

We cannot recommend Sycamore Park highly enough. My dad was included immediately and settled in very quickly. He was introduced to others and made friends both with staff and other residents. As his mobility decreased, the level of care increased, and he felt safe at all times. He was very well fed, and the social and medical care was excellent. Daily activities and events made sure he was stimulated, and there was always someone to chat with. His room was very nicely decorated, and by taking his own chair, paintings and ornaments, it quickly become home. Services such as hairdressers, chiropodists, laundry and opticians were readily available whenever required. The managers were hands-on, very professional, easily approachable and dealt with any queries immediately.

Thank you so much, Lynn, for this lovely review - Dad was such a huge part of our Sycamore Park family, and his absence is felt by everyone. As we have said -please don't be a stranger; you will always be welcome here. From all of us at Sycamore Park!

The care provided was excellent, allowing for as much or a little family involvement. It is very much made to feel as though it is their home, and respect offered accordingly. All the staff were very caring and personable. My father was on the dementia floor, and the care he received was second to none. Great communication between the home and close family members. Would highly recommend.

I cannot thank the staff enough for the care received by my late mother.
The staff are loving, friendly and caring.
The home is immaculately clean, the food is of a high standard, and the knowledge and experience of senior and care staff are good.

There is a real comfortable family feel within the home, with families and friends made extremely welcome when visiting residents.

I felt such guilt when I took my mum into Sycamore Park, but it has been my lifesaver in many ways with my mum's dementia and failing health. They said she would settle, and she quickly did.
The care and personal support they have given my mum have been exceptional. They have been her second family, especially through Covid. The quality of care, the cleanliness, the food and the surroundings are as good as the best hotels. In the 10-months, Mum was there, I never had any issues.
The cost is higher than some homes, but you definitely get what you pay for, and Mum was extremely happy there until her end of life.

To the home - thank you so much for your loving care and support.

My precious mum moved to Sycamore Park in November of last year. Whilst initially this is not what myself and my son wanted for Mum, it became apparent within weeks that actually she was in the best place. And what a place! The management and carers provided a service second to none. Their commitment, love, care and compassion was nothing short of outstanding, and we cannot thank you enough. I am not allowed to name names, but you know who you are. We will never forget you and what you did for Mum during her final weeks. We had confidence that you were doing your utmost to keep Mum comfortable, involving external agencies to provide extra support. More importantly, we knew that Mum felt safe and loved, which meant the world to us.

We thoroughly recommend Sycamore Park for the care of your loved one. Outstanding!

My mum has been a resident at Sycamore Park for over two years now. As a purpose-built development, the facilities are first-class, compared to many of the alternative homes in converted Victorian buildings that we viewed. The staff are excellent, the food is very good, and there is a weekly programme of activities for residents to enjoy. I really can’t fault the care Mum has received and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sycamore Park to other potential residents or their families.

My aunt has been a resident here for almost 2-years.
She has, at all times, been treated with the utmost care and consideration.
Her dignity and self-belief have always been respected.
The home is beautifully maintained, clean and welcoming. It is attractively decorated throughout.
The staff are exceptional in their commitment to those in their care.
She has made genuine friendships with the care staff. This also includes those not directly involved in her personal care.
There does not seem to be a high turnover of staff, which must reflect upon the management.
I noticed on my last visit that they were all in new uniforms.
The precautions instigated by the pandemic are still policy, for which I am most grateful. Their caution and professionalism over these past difficult months have been exemplary.
My aunt looks at Sycamore Park as her home and is settled and content.
As her only remaining blood relative, who lives 200 miles away, this gives me peace of mind.

Thank you.

The positivity and attentiveness of everyone at Sycamore Park were outstanding. There is a culture of kindness, empathy and a need to support the residents as best they can. They make such a difference every day - a kind word, a joke, a song, lots of activities, and just being there when they are needed. The caring industry isn't just a job - every day the staff of Sycamore Park make a difference to those they care for. They make their lives just that little bit brighter every day. Thank you for looking after Mum so well during her respite care. I'm so grateful to you all. I can't tell you what a difference it made to me to know she was safe and cared for the entire time. Thank you.

My elderly mother moved into Sycamore Park in July 2020. She was made very welcome by the friendly staff, who were kind and gentle with her and made her feel at home. She enjoyed the food, and her birthday cakes were personalised works of art. The activities for the residents were many and varied, and the staff did their best to involve everyone. The photos and videos posted on the home's Facebook page kept relatives in touch during the Covid-19 restrictions on visiting and were a real boon. During my mother's last weeks, when she was bed-ridden, the staff helped her to eat and drink; and during her last days, my mother was kept comfortable, and a member of staff sat with her day and night.

Overall, my mother received excellent care throughout her stay at Sycamore Park.

Find the care home immaculate. Staff friendly and caring.
Always hard putting a relative into care, but out of necessity, we had to do this, and so pleased we found sycamore Park.
Mum enjoys her bath several times a week.
The residents are a good mix and mum has made friends.

The entertainment offered is great from dominoes, bingo, cinema live singers outside socially distanced etc.

Sycamore Park is unlike any care home I’ve known; it is more like a hotel, the rooms and facilities are first class. It has a pretty and welcoming garden that is beautifully maintained. An all-around fantastic setting for residents and visiting loved ones. The staff are amazing, especially noted throughout this pandemic. You can feel the loving and caring atmosphere as soon as you enter. More like a large family, home from home. Throughout this pandemic, especially when the Government guidelines didn’t allow visits at all, we, the families, on the outside have been able to ring at any time of day or night to speak to loved ones or enquire, always met with a friendly voice. Never made to feel a nuisance, even though the staff/carers must have been so busy. Pics/videos of residents and the many activities they have been provided with put on the website nearly every day so that you felt as if you were actually visiting. Thank you, Sycamore Park!
