The Avenue Nursing Home

My mum was discharged from hospital into the Avenue with a poor prognosis, but she has improved hugely in just one month of being there. Her mobility and general mood are much better and they have done a great job getting her back to eating. They really understand the challenges of caring for residents with dementia and are amazingly kind and cheerful. It has given all of the family peace of mind to know she's in such as great place!

My Mum was a resident at this NH for the last 2.5 years of her life. The facilities are excellent, it is immaculately clean, efficient house keeping, with beautiful views. There is impressive supportive program of enriching activities, outings, and social events. Mums meals and changing dietary needs were carefully monitored and managed well. All the staff make this an exceptional NH. They show genuine empathy, dignity, attentiveness, patience, compassion and respect to those in their care and their families. I always felt reassured my Mum was safe and in well led supportive environment because all the staff inspired such confidence and trust. The personalised nursing care provided to Mum was exemplary. The NH manager (AM) is very professional, caring, approachable and delivers high nursing standards. She always ensured I was involved in Mums care planning process and promptly kept me informed of changes. My heartfelt thanks to the entire team; I cannot praise or thank them enough.

The Avenue have given fantastic care to my mum since she was admitted in March 2026 with an acute brain injury. Staff are approachable and responsive. I've had quick answers to all my queries by email, phone or in person and the staff providing my mum's 1:1 care are kind and gentle with her. Having not thought she would ever be discharged from hospital, I am very confident she is in safe hands. The building is immaculate and all staff members have been professional. It's also a beautiful location and its huge windows and glorious views over the cricket pitch and hills beyond give us plenty to look at and talk about when I visit my mum.

I had reservations regarding care homes, The Avenue however have changed my view, everything they do is focused on care, everyone is comfortable treated with respect by genuine caring staff, nothing is too much trouble, the residents are as far as possible kept occupied and entertained by devoted staff, this is reflected in happy comfortable residents, my dad in particular far from bring neglected has thrived beyond all expectations

When we met the management team and viewed the Avenue's facilities we realised we'd be unlikely to find anywhere else to come close to meeting dad's care and nursing needs. That view's only got stronger each day since he took up residence. The care and nursing standards he receives are exemplary. You feel the passion right across the home for caring and supporting their vulnerable and ill residents. You know that is genuine! From carers, nurses, management and activities staff - we know we're entrusting dad's future wellbeing to a 'care' home - in the very sense of the word. His room is always spotless and the general cleaning and laundry is first class. The range of daily activities for the residents is always diverse and inclusive. And the quality and quantity of the catering is also of a very high standard. Finally, a big thank you to Ada, Emma and their management team for the caring support and help they've given and continue to do so in helping dad to transition into the Avenue.

My mother has been a resident at the Avenue Nursing Home for over two years in the dementia section of the home. The care that she has received has been second to none and it has been a source of great comfort to our family to know that mum is being so well looked after. We know from previous experience that this is not always the case. The staff are kind and attentive and there are lots of them. The managers are approachable and well informed about all the residents. They have been particularly helpful in allowing us to access one to one care for mum. The entertainment, food and other services are also first class. The home is secure but very open and welcoming.

A very well chosen of all workforce doing an amazing job, never had an unpleasant visit yet just the opposite care of my aunt wonferfull with great attention paid to her healt changes as they happen and quickly picked up on and and medicaly seen to the overall atmpshere created by you all is something to be proud of thank you all for the last couple of months.

There is so much i could say about the home but in a few words i now feel my mum is safe and treated with compassion and i can not thanks the whole team enough

At The Avenue there is a real sense of a team working together to provide a caring, calm and supportive environment for the residents. All staff, whatever their role, quickly establish their own relationship with the residents, and respond promptly and kindly to their needs. Management and nursing staff are always visible and available, which is reassuring for the families. The home is totally secure, and yet its open and spacious layout ensures that those residents who are mobile can move around safely with no feeling of being 'locked in'. This has been particularly important to my husband. The Avenue is a special place, and our family is truly appreciative of the care it offers.

My mum was admitted to the Avenue Nursing Home May/June 25 on palliative care. The staff and management were so lovely with her, anything that we asked for was seen to immediately. They were so caring with her especially in her last days. As she hardly left her room staff were always popping in to make sure she was ok. Whilst visiting her I was always asked if I wanted a drink or cake when they brought it in. The friendlies staff, laundry always clean for her too. I can not thank them enough.

Mum moved into the avenue in November 21 at the age of 89. There weren't many residents at the time, as it was newly opened, meant staff were only caring for a few residents in situ at the time. She is now 93, and even though the number of residents has increased, the care and attention to her needs have never diminished. I believe that she thrives on the excellent care and support given by all members of staff. Always informed of any issues. We are truly lucky to entrust her to their excellent care and compassion. Can't speak highly of them enough. Thank you is all we can say.

I would 100% recommend The Avenue to anyone who is considering a care home for their loved ones.

After finding this care home earlier this year, we decided to move my mum here. The best decision we ever made. In the care home she was previously in she had not been out of bed. They arranged the transport to the Avenue and after settling in after a couple of days they got her out of bed into the lounge which was amazing to see and all our family were amazed. All the staff are brilliant and seem to know all the residents names and also very helpful with family. They put on entertainment on regularly and involve all to get up singing. My mum has dementia but when I visited when a turn on my mum started to sing along. Absolutely pleased with the carehome, staff and managers. Thank you so much.

Facilities and the environment is friendly clean and spacious situated lovely grounds with exceptional views.

The Avenue helped to look after my dad in 2023/24 following his battle with dementia and a stroke. The help, support, care and compassion during this difficult time was invaluable from ALL members of staff. The process of moving my dad from the hospital into the nursing home was quick and it felt like a 'home life' environment was there from the first day. The staff were very good at adapting to my dad's needs on a daily basis and the nursing care was excellent. We were made to feel very welcome as family members and on the whole my dad my cared for with respect and dignity here.

My wife has been a resident since December 2021, soon after The Avenue opened. She has an aggressive type of dementia that many care homes could not cope with. The managers, provide exemplary care and compassion and operate the home to very high standards. Their staff are all committed and extremely caring and responsive. In nearly four years, I have never witnessed an unkind word to any resident. I used to work for CQC, and can unhesitatingly say that this must be one of the best care homes in Yorkshire.
