Unfortunately my father passed away in early August. The care he received at The Avenue was absolutely fantastic. From day one to his final moment ALL the staff were so compassionate & caring, not just for dad but for his immediate family. The care home has all the modern facilities & is extremely clean
& looked after. As soon as you walk through the door you can tell all the staff enjoy working there & they show their love towards the residents.
I would 100% recommend The Avenue to anyone who is considering a care home for their loved ones.

After finding this care home earlier this year, we decided to move my mum here. The best decision we ever made. In the care home she was previously in she had not been out of bed. They arranged the transport to the Avenue and after settling in after a couple of days they got her out of bed into the
lounge which was amazing to see and all our family were amazed. All the staff are brilliant and seem to know all the residents names and also very helpful with family. They put on entertainment on regularly and involve all to get up singing. My mum has dementia but when I visited when a turn on my mum started to sing along. Absolutely pleased with the carehome, staff and managers. Thank you so much.

My Mother -in-law was admitted for end of life care . The care she received was outstanding . All the staff were so professional, kind and were very prompt in responding to my mother-in-laws needs especially when she was nearing the end of her life . Her dignity being maintained at all times.
Her husband
was equally cared for as he visited every day and stayed for most of that day . All the staff were very attentive and understanding of his needs .
This care was extended to the rest of the family . Nothing was too much trouble and all our needs at this difficult time were anticipated and if we ever did ask for anything , these needs were met with a prompt , caring and understanding response.
We were always met with a smile at the door and every member of staff we passed smiled and said hello and even before we entered her room a staff member would always asked us to just call them if we needed anything .
The facilities and cleanliness were outstanding with attention to detail at all times

Staff really friendly and helpful.
Have good knowledge of my mum and she is very settled in the home from previous homes she has been in.
Facilities and the environment is friendly clean and spacious situated lovely grounds with exceptional views.

The Avenue helped to look after my dad in 2023/24 following his battle with dementia and a stroke. The help, support, care and compassion during this difficult time was invaluable from ALL members of staff. The process of moving my dad from the hospital into the nursing home was quick and it felt like
a 'home life' environment was there from the first day. The staff were very good at adapting to my dad's needs on a daily basis and the nursing care was excellent. We were made to feel very welcome as family members and on the whole my dad my cared for with respect and dignity here.

My wife has been a resident since December 2021, soon after The Avenue opened. She has an aggressive type of dementia that many care homes could not cope with. The managers, provide exemplary care and compassion and operate the home to very high standards. Their staff are all committed and extremely
caring and responsive. In nearly four years, I have never witnessed an unkind word to any resident. I used to work for CQC, and can unhesitatingly say that this must be one of the best care homes in Yorkshire.

My father has been a resident of The Avenue Nursing Home in Clayton since October '22.


Throughout that time, we have been impressed with the levels of care and support provided to my father. The home provides a clean, modern and pleasant environment, with lots of high quality equipment, which is

well-maintained.


There are far too many people to name individuals but whether it be the careworkers nursing staff, entertainments team, facilities staff, kitchen team, administrative support or management, we have found that overall they are invested in the well-being and happiness of the residents and are generally hard-working, communicative and intelligent.


Putting my father into The Avenue was a difficult and painful decision but all of the team made the process easier and we have not regretted our decision. Thank you.

In December 2023 my mother was hospitalised due to a fall resulting in her previous care home making her homeless. The manager of The Avenue managed the situation very professionally and reassured us she was able to accommodate the needs of my mother. Since January 2024 we have truly been amazed at
the level of personalised care, engagement and trust that has been consistently provided to a high standard by all staff at The Avenue. A significant provision was the 1:1 care which the staff were instrumental in arranging, enabling my mother to maintain mobility and join the array of activities. Over the last 18 months she has thrived on the company and extensive menu choices and medical care as needed. It is a comfort and peace of mind for all the family to know that she is happy, safe and being well cared for - Thank you!

Our Mum moved into The Avenue after a downturn with Dementia, the Management team were reassuring & acted promptly on our queries & requests. You feel they genuinely care about the residents as individuals attending to specific & very differing needs.
When Mum was seriously ill on Christmas Day, the
Management provided excellent support to both our Mum & the family which was very reassuring & the aftercare when she returned from hospital was good. All of the carers, nurses, housekeeping team, chefs & entertainment facilitators are very friendly & you feel that they enjoy their jobs. They are genuine caring people.
The entertainment programme is varied & there are some really lovely activities that the family can join. There is a also a sense of camaraderie/community among the families of the residents.
The purpose built building is well designed with extensive communal areas & is kept very clean & well maintained including outdoor space. The food is fresh, high quality & plentiful.

fantastic caring staff who work in a perfect environment,
I know that my mother is always so well cared for and all her needs are met.
When my mothers needs became to complex for me to look after her it was difficult to find somewhere suitable.
The Avenue has always provided the best care for her
and I know 24 hours a day she is safe and in good hands.
The training the care staff have regarding dementia is of high standard.

Party celebrations for my mother who was 90 years old, members of staff went above and beyond what was expected to make the occasion most memorable for mum and a special mention to the manager who made a chocolate and carrot cake that everyone enjoyed. Also the another manager who set everything up
in the cinema room and the numerous other members of staff who joined in by singing happy birthday making an old lady very happy indeed.

My wife has been getting looked after by staff at The Avenue Care Home for well over 12 months, but this review is for the last 12 months only. ALL staff at the home are excellent, paying particular attention to the residents daily needs. In addition to my wife's care, the food is very nutritious and
of a very high standard with amply choice to suit all tastes and dietary needs. The hygiene and cleanliness throughout the home is also to an extremely high standard. In house entertainment is provided daily with two excellent Activity Coordinators. Also high quality performers are brought on a regular basis. The management team at the home are very caring and approachable with "an open door policy" I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this high quality home. In my opinion it is a 5* facility.

Mum went to The Avenue recently and there is no way I will ever be able to thank the staff enough for all they did for my mum and our family. I can honestly say I did not meet a single member of their staff that were anything less than exceptional. The facilities take this nursing home to another level,
there is nothing in Bradford even close and we looked at many before selecting The Avenue. All the residents are so happy and well cared for.

Mum was admitted to The Avenue Nursing Home, requiring nursing care. I knew at once that this was the place for Mum and she has been a resident for over two years, throughout which her care has been exemplary. There has only been one issue which was resolved quickly, completely to our satisfaction and
I have only positive things to say about all staff there who helped Mum live life as fully as possible.
Mum struggled with the hoist needed to transfer her to her special, comfortable chair and carers invented ways to help her relax (Avenue airways, singing) and Mum was no longer frightened. Mum also enjoyed outings to church and the garden centre, despite her care needs.
Nothing has been too much trouble. Her special diet was accommodated and as Mum’s health failed, she was loved, cared for and able to pass away with dignity in her room. Mum looked on the Avenue staff as family and on the death of my father in November 2023 and Mum's death in December 2023, we have all been embraced by the love and care of The Avenue family.

Our mum stayed in The Avenue for approximately three months. We could not fault the care, compassion and dignity they gave our mum during her final months. We were kept up to date with everything regarding Mum's care, and nothing was too much trouble for the amazing staff there. Mum enjoyed the food,
especially the desserts and having her hair and nails done. Every time we visited, she told us, "the staff are lovely", and we ourselves found the staff friendly, caring, cheerful and attentive.
The home always appeared clean and well-led. Mum's clothes were laundered by the lovely housekeeping staff, who always chatted with Mum when they came into her room. My sister, my brother and I would like to thank all the wonderful staff involved in our mum's care. I would highly recommend The Avenue to anyone who may be looking for a Nursing/Care Home for a loved one.

Whilst in Greece, we received news that the care home my father-in-law was in, and had been in for 2 years, was being closed down. This was a very difficult time as my father-in-law has dementia. We are his only family and we were not in the country, to handle this emergency and view care homes. We
spoke to the manager at The Avenue Care Home which is situated in Clayton and not only were they helpful and professional, but they made us feel they would welcome my father-in-law personally and care for him until we returned. We received daily calls to keep us posted about how he had settled in and they set up his room and bathroom for us. We even got photos of him in the day room enjoying the cricket with a shandy. We have not seen my father-in-law look as happy for a long time, so much so, that we have had the picture printed and framed. In that one picture, we could see my 'old' father-in-law. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. It's the little, simple gestures that make all the difference.

Daniel Holt

I’ve been dedicated to mental health for many years, growing up around nursing homes, with both my parents and grandparents working as nurses and running a care home in our local village. I was surrounded by elderly care from a young age. This early experience inspired my passion for healthcare, leading me to gain a degree in Mental Health Nursing in 2004 and become a registered nurse. Since qualifying as a nurse, I have nursed elderly people all throughout my nursing career and became a registered manager in 2010.


I have been actively working within the Holt family care group for a number of years alongside my wife Emma, who is also a registered nurse as well as my brothers and sister. My focus has always been on person-centred care, ensuring residents receive the best possible support in a familiar and compassionate environment.


Outside of work, I have an active family life with my three children as well as playing golf and keeping a Japanese koi pond. I am passionate about making a difference in dementia care, and I’m proud to be part of The Avenue Nursing Home, helping to create a safe, supportive and caring home for all the residents who reside there.

My role in care began in 2011 when I joined one of Europe’s oldest universities to study nursing. I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 2014 and have been dedicated to clinical practice ever since. Throughout my career, I’ve remained committed to continuous learning, which has led me to pursue additional qualifications in leadership and management.


Since The Avenue Nursing Home opened in 2021, I’ve been proud to be part of its founding team. From the beginning, I have invested my passion and dedication into helping develop a service that strives for the highest standards in care. Over time, dementia and elderly care have become the heart of my professional focus, shaping a vision centred on innovation and compassionate care.


What truly sets The Avenue apart is the bond within our team. We share a collective commitment to compassionate, person-centred care, and support one another in delivering the very best. I am proud to work alongside such dedicated professionals in an environment where every resident is treated with dignity, respect, and understanding.

I have worked at The Avenue Nursing Home since September 2021, when it first opened its doors. Prior to that, I managed The Glen Nursing Home alongside my husband, Danny. I have worked within elderly care for the last 12 years.


I started my career after qualifying as a Registered Nurse on the Intensive Care Unit at Leeds General Infirmary. For 10 years, I worked in this high-paced environment, gaining many valuable skills. I loved this role, but after starting a family decided it was time for a change.


I am deeply passionate about working with elderly individuals, and I consider it a privilege to support them during the later years of their lives. Providing compassionate, person-centred care that enhances their quality of life. I believe that every person deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued, especially during their final years.


Through my work, I aim to create a warm and supportive environment where residents feel at home. I take pride in building meaningful relationships with each individual, listening to their stories, and understanding their unique needs and preferences, whether it’s assisting with daily activities or offering a listening ear.


I’m deeply committed to improving the quality of life for our residents, ensuring that every resident experiences dignity, comfort and happiness, because everyone deserves the highest standard of care, no matter their age or condition.

I have a range of experience working in NHS BT, specialist mental health services and complex care. I have taken the step into management and leadership because I believe in delivering good quality, kind care and promoting positive wellbeing for residents, going the extra mile for people living in our home.


I like to be present and lead the staff by example, often to offer a hand to anyone who might need support. Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my children and partner. I love being outdoors, going for walks, visiting playgrounds, and relaxing with a coffee and cake. This family time helps me stay grounded and brings balance to my professional life.
