My mum has been a resident since January 2019. She had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and her GP recommended Five Rise because of their specialist dementia care experience. We have been thoroughly pleased with absolutely everything that Damien and his staff have done for mum over the years. At 94 years
of age, she is now a very frail old lady and the dementia has taken away all recognition of us and taken her power of speech, but she is still as strong willed as she always was and hanging in there due to the care and attention she receives daily.
I would not hesitate in recommending Five Rise Nursing Home to anyone. Without the attention of the wonderful, friendly and efficient staff, we would have lost mum many years ago.

Thank you so much to you and your wonderful staff for looking after my wife.
My wife was the youngest resident whilst she was at The Glen.
My wife's brain tumour sadly caused paralysis in the left hand side of her body, which meant that day to day tasks were extremely difficult for my wife.
Your
staff, and the 1 to 1's assigned to my wife, lovingly looked after my wife with the utmost care and dignity.
Thank you

Reply from Emma Fisher, Manager at The Glen Nursing Home

Thank you for your kind and heartfelt words. We are touched that you have taken the time to share your experience. It was an honour for all of us at The Glen to care for your wife. Our team will be moved to know that their compassion and dedication made a difference to both of you. We always strive to provide care with dignity, respect, and love, and it means so much to hear that this was felt during her time with us. She is truly missed.

After finding this care home earlier this year, we decided to move my mum here. The best decision we ever made. In the care home she was previously in she had not been out of bed. They arranged the transport to the Avenue and after settling in after a couple of days they got her out of bed into the
lounge which was amazing to see and all our family were amazed. All the staff are brilliant and seem to know all the residents names and also very helpful with family. They put on entertainment on regularly and involve all to get up singing. My mum has dementia but when I visited when a turn on my mum started to sing along. Absolutely pleased with the carehome, staff and managers. Thank you so much.

My Mother -in-law was admitted for end of life care . The care she received was outstanding . All the staff were so professional, kind and were very prompt in responding to my mother-in-laws needs especially when she was nearing the end of her life . Her dignity being maintained at all times.
Her husband
was equally cared for as he visited every day and stayed for most of that day . All the staff were very attentive and understanding of his needs .
This care was extended to the rest of the family . Nothing was too much trouble and all our needs at this difficult time were anticipated and if we ever did ask for anything , these needs were met with a prompt , caring and understanding response.
We were always met with a smile at the door and every member of staff we passed smiled and said hello and even before we entered her room a staff member would always asked us to just call them if we needed anything .
The facilities and cleanliness were outstanding with attention to detail at all times

The Avenue helped to look after my dad in 2023/24 following his battle with dementia and a stroke. The help, support, care and compassion during this difficult time was invaluable from ALL members of staff. The process of moving my dad from the hospital into the nursing home was quick and it felt like
a 'home life' environment was there from the first day. The staff were very good at adapting to my dad's needs on a daily basis and the nursing care was excellent. We were made to feel very welcome as family members and on the whole my dad my cared for with respect and dignity here.

Reply from Adrianna Mosur, Manager at The Avenue Nursing Home

Thank you for your heartfelt message. It means so much to all of us at The Avenue to know that we were able to support your dad and your family through such a difficult time. Creating a welcoming, home-like environment is something we strive for every day, and we're so glad that this was your experience from the very beginning. Your message is incredibly encouraging, and we'll be sure to share it with all the staff involved in your dad's care.

Mum has been a resident at The Glen for 8 months now, she tells myself and my siblings that she is content and never wants to move from here. Mums physical and emotional needs are well met and she is treated with patience, kindness and dignity.
My siblings and I visit regularly and we are also treated
with kindness and respect and our visits/family time is valued.
I very much appreciate the excellent care mum receives and would find great difficulty replicating, it should this ever become necessary.

From first visiting The Glen to look round for potential care for out Mum to move there nothing was too much trouble, the Care Home is beautiful very well
maintained and kept clean to a very high standard. It has very good facilities and immaculate bedrooms. The Care Home Manager showed us all that
was on offer and what facilities and events/entertainment takes place on a regular basis. We knew this was the right place for Mum straight away she needs 24 hour nursing care, they very speedily facilitated Mum moving there from hospital. Someone is always on hand for us to talk to if we have any questions & meet all of our Mum's needs. Each and every staff member are very knowledgeable and very kind and caring. I would not hesitate in highly recommending The Glen to anyone needing care. You certainly won't be disappointed and it is set in beautiful surroundings with lovely well maintained gardens & outdoor seating. The food is exemplary excellent home cooked food at its best.

My wife has been a resident since December 2021, soon after The Avenue opened. She has an aggressive type of dementia that many care homes could not cope with. The managers, provide exemplary care and compassion and operate the home to very high standards. Their staff are all committed and extremely
caring and responsive. In nearly four years, I have never witnessed an unkind word to any resident. I used to work for CQC, and can unhesitatingly say that this must be one of the best care homes in Yorkshire.

My father has been a resident of The Avenue Nursing Home in Clayton since October '22.

Throughout that time, we have been impressed with the levels of care and support provided to my father. The home provides a clean, modern and pleasant environment, with lots of high quality equipment, which is

well-maintained.

There are far too many people to name individuals but whether it be the careworkers nursing staff, entertainments team, facilities staff, kitchen team, administrative support or management, we have found that overall they are invested in the well-being and happiness of the residents and are generally hard-working, communicative and intelligent.

Putting my father into The Avenue was a difficult and painful decision but all of the team made the process easier and we have not regretted our decision. Thank you.

In December 2023 my mother was hospitalised due to a fall resulting in her previous care home making her homeless. The manager of The Avenue managed the situation very professionally and reassured us she was able to accommodate the needs of my mother. Since January 2024 we have truly been amazed at
the level of personalised care, engagement and trust that has been consistently provided to a high standard by all staff at The Avenue. A significant provision was the 1:1 care which the staff were instrumental in arranging, enabling my mother to maintain mobility and join the array of activities. Over the last 18 months she has thrived on the company and extensive menu choices and medical care as needed. It is a comfort and peace of mind for all the family to know that she is happy, safe and being well cared for - Thank you!

Our Mum moved into The Avenue after a downturn with Dementia, the Management team were reassuring & acted promptly on our queries & requests. You feel they genuinely care about the residents as individuals attending to specific & very differing needs.
When Mum was seriously ill on Christmas Day, the
Management provided excellent support to both our Mum & the family which was very reassuring & the aftercare when she returned from hospital was good. All of the carers, nurses, housekeeping team, chefs & entertainment facilitators are very friendly & you feel that they enjoy their jobs. They are genuine caring people.
The entertainment programme is varied & there are some really lovely activities that the family can join. There is a also a sense of camaraderie/community among the families of the residents.
The purpose built building is well designed with extensive communal areas & is kept very clean & well maintained including outdoor space. The food is fresh, high quality & plentiful.

I know that my mother is always so well cared for and all her needs are met.
When my mothers needs became to complex for me to look after her it was difficult to find somewhere suitable.

The training the care staff have regarding dementia is of high standard.

Party celebrations for my mother who was 90 years old, members of staff went above and beyond what was expected to make the occasion most memorable for mum and a special mention to the manager who made a chocolate and carrot cake that everyone enjoyed. Also the another manager who set everything up

My wife has been getting looked after by staff at The Avenue Care Home for well over 12 months, but this review is for the last 12 months only. ALL staff at the home are excellent, paying particular attention to the residents daily needs. In addition to my wife's care, the food is very nutritious and
of a very high standard with amply choice to suit all tastes and dietary needs. The hygiene and cleanliness throughout the home is also to an extremely high standard. In house entertainment is provided daily with two excellent Activity Coordinators. Also high quality performers are brought on a regular basis. The management team at the home are very caring and approachable with "an open door policy" I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this high quality home. In my opinion it is a 5* facility.

From what I've seen in the last 16 months I can't fault this excellent care home. As an ex-CQC inspector that's not a statement made lightly! Staff genuinely care about the residents, nothing is too much trouble, they are treated with love and respect. The care team are stable and know about the residents
and their needs. It's not run on bank staff as in other homes i.e. I see the same faces when I go and visit. The home is so clean. Only in one occasion in 16 months have I seen a communal area that needed hoovering & that was around dinner time and it was sorted while I was there. Not easy with lots of residents living with dementia! Management are kind, responsive & knowledgeable of the residents. Again, nothing is too much trouble & communication is excellent. Whilst no, it isn't the cheapest care home in the area, the quality of care and peace of mind that comes with having a resident cared for here is excellent value for money. Their values statement is beautiful & staff embody it
