I approached the home to see if they could support us holding an afternoon birthday party for mum. Straight away the staff were supportive and nothing was too much trouble. They trimmed the room we had up with birthday banners, arranged the beautiful spread of food all in house catering, from sandwiches,
salad, fruit, sausage rolls and cakes/buns. The chef also made a beautiful fresh cream Victoria sponge cake for a birthday cake which mum loved.
We cleared up the room as much as possible and then the ladies that clean turned up and took over, again 2 amazing ladies and nothing was too much trouble.
Overall mum has now been in the home for 1 year and is really happy, she is looked after by an amazing bunch of people who really care about the residents, they go out and about on trips on a regular basis and have an amazing amount of activities to join in.
Thank you to all the staff, you make my life easier now that I know mum is really looked after well
Reply from Adrianna Mosur, Manager at The Avenue Nursing HomeThank you so much for your wonderful feedback. We are truly delighted to hear that your mum's birthday celebration was such a special occasion and that our team could help make the day memorable for your family.

Five Rise Nursing Home

from Tim S (Son of Resident) published on 6 May 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum lived at Five Rise from March 2022 until she died in February 2026. She has been living with my family & me, but real difficulties had developed with some delusional beliefs and non-co-operation with care. Damien and the team were reassuring about their ability to support her, and this was evidenced
by the healing up of the pressure sore she had developed. The Activities Organisers took time to understand mum, and this gradually helped her to feel she belonged there. They would make sure she got to see wildlife TV shows and the orchestral classical music concerts. She ate very well too, the food was good, and when she needed soft & puréed food it was well presented.

Mum died of a chest infection and was comfortable and well cared-for at the end.

The home can be a bit quiet at weekends, with everyone sat in the lounge. Mum relied on us to get out for fresh air. There is a nice garden / patio area that has improved recently. The staff and leadership are caring & skilled.

Reply from Damien Holt, HOME MANAGER at Five Rise Nursing HomeThank for your kind comments. We have chosen that weekends are quieter regarding activities as residents have a full Monday to Friday activity schedule and feedback from previous relatives supports this decision and allows for family visiting.

Five Rise Nursing Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
I do not say this lightly, but Five Rise and every one of its staff, from the Owner right through the nursing and other care staff, administrative staff in the office, catering staff, and activities organisers, are quite exceptional. I work in adult social care, supporting people in their own homes,
not care homes, but since I walked in the front door, late last year, I have had a great feeling about the genuine quality of care and compassion at Five Rise. The dementia-specific planning (colours, reminiscence pictures, physical things, as examples) is the best I have ever seen, and it is clearly purpose-built and designed. One brilliant thing is that those with dementia can come down from the first floor to the ground floor and join other residents.

Mum moved in at the start of February, from another traditional dementia care home, and only after medication advice from Damien which allowed this to happen. Dad (97) can now visit regularly.

In the very best place. Quite exceptional!

Dad stayed at Five Rise following a lengthy stay in hospital.
He was aware this would be his last few weeks with us.
During that time the team were amazing. A genuine care for their guests and their family was very evident.
The food, all home made is lovely, and the home is well kept, warm and
inviting. Bright, cheerful, full of wonderful local photo's and mementos.
It was such a relief to know he was so looked after.
Before he left, dad watched the six nations with his 5 grandchildren on the big TV in the lounge and loved every minute.
Other guests were clearly very settled and content. Lots of friends coming in and out to see them.
Highly recommend to anyone wanting a loved one in a safe harbour.
Reply from Damien Holt, HOME MANAGER at Five Rise Nursing HomeThank you for your kind words- it's lovely to hear such good reviews. We always aim to give our best to everyone.
Dad was a pleasure to look after and are sorry that we didn't get more time to spend with him.

My mum moved into The glen nursing home on February 13th 2026.
From the very start we were offered support and dignity.
The management and staff have been incredible both with mum and ourselves.
The care she is given on a daily basis is outstanding.
My mum is very happy and that is down to the personal
and medical care that she is given

Well done to each and every one of the staff at The Glen!

Following my previous review
My lovely special Mum passed away peacefully earlier this month surrounded by the dedicated teams who have tirelessly cared for her since April 2024. I cannot, yet again, speak too highly of the care, empathy and genuine affection all the staff at Five Rise have shown my
Mum during her time with them. My family and I could not have wished for a better Nursing Home to care for a much loved Mum, Grandma and Greatgrandma
We are so glad we chose Five Rise Nursing Home
With much appreciation

When we met the management team and viewed the Avenue's facilities we realised we'd be unlikely to find anywhere else to come close to meeting dad's care and nursing needs. That view's only got stronger each day since he took up residence. The care and nursing standards he receives are exemplary. You
feel the passion right across the home for caring and supporting their vulnerable and ill residents. You know that is genuine! From carers, nurses, management and activities staff - we know we're entrusting dad's future wellbeing to a 'care' home - in the very sense of the word. His room is always spotless and the general cleaning and laundry is first class. The range of daily activities for the residents is always diverse and inclusive. And the quality and quantity of the catering is also of a very high standard. Finally, a big thank you to Ada, Emma and their management team for the caring support and help they've given and continue to do so in helping dad to transition into the Avenue.
Reply from Adrianna Mosur, Manager at The Avenue Nursing HomeThank you so much for this incredibly kind and thoughtful review. Myself, Emma, and the whole team are truly grateful for your words and trust. It's a privilege to care for your dad and we remain dedicated to his comfort and wellbeing.

The Glen was recommended to us whilst Dad was in a different care home . We were looking for an alternative care home due to our concerns regarding the care he was receiving.
From the moment we visited The Glen we were made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. On the day we moved him everyone
knew his name including the Chef who made him his favourite lunch! Communication between staff, management and relatives is brilliant, I am kept regularly updated and any concerns I have are dealt with efficiently, professionally and with great empathy.
I would highly recommend this care home.

My mother has been a resident at the Avenue Nursing Home for over two years in the dementia section of the home. The care that she has received has been second to none and it has been a source of great comfort to our family to know that mum is being so well looked after. We know from previous experience
that this is not always the case. The staff are kind and attentive and there are lots of them. The managers are approachable and well informed about all the residents. They have been particularly helpful in allowing us to access one to one care for mum. The entertainment, food and other services are also first class. The home is secure but very open and welcoming.

My wife was admitted to the Glen in December 2024 and remained there until she died in September last year. I am so grateful that she was able to spend her last few months at the home. The dedication to her care by all the management and staff was without doubt everything I could have hoped for. The
Glen was like one big family and they always made me feel welcome. Although my wife wasn't always able to fully appreciate the care she received, she nevertheless made special bonds with some of the team and enjoyed having her typical bit of banter with them. In summary I was always assured that my wife was receiving the best possible care and I doubt any other home could have provided better.
Thank you.

Mum has now been in the Glen Nursing home for 5 months and recently celebrated a milestone birthday. Unfortunately, Mum's dementia means she does not have any memories of the day but our family always will, due to the wonderful staff and the care given.
From the very first day all the staff have shown
themselves to be totally dedicated, compassionate, kind, caring and very gentle with Mum.
The owner Rob told us that communication is the key and it's definitely true. All communication in the home is excellent and as Mum's health has deteriorated quickly this has been invaluable for our family. And it plays a vital role in the brilliant care given.
We have found all of the staff, no matter what their role is in the home, to be kind and caring with Mum, but also with our family. They are always willing to talk and to listen and act as necessary. And we cannot thank them enough, especially as we have peace of mind for the first time in a long time.
Thank you.

i just to say how amazing everybody is at the Avenue ,from the managers to the care team ,to the domestics, the workmen, everybody is so welcoming ,you can tell what a great team they are ,
The care my mum is being given is excellent the compassion the staff show is exceptional.
Mum was admitted,with

The home itself has so many facilities that they can join in if able to ,they have something going on everyday ,

At The Avenue there is a real sense of a team working together to provide a caring, calm and supportive environment for the residents. All staff, whatever their role, quickly establish their own relationship with the residents, and respond promptly and kindly to their needs. Management and nursing staff
are always visible and available, which is reassuring for the families. The home is totally secure, and yet its open and spacious layout ensures that those residents who are mobile can move around safely with no feeling of being 'locked in'. This has been particularly important to my husband. The Avenue is a special place, and our family is truly appreciative of the care it offers.

My mum was admitted to the Avenue Nursing Home May/June 25 on palliative care. The staff and management were so lovely with her, anything that we asked for was seen to immediately. They were so caring with her especially in her last days. As she hardly left her room staff were always popping in to make
sure she was ok. Whilst visiting her I was always asked if I wanted a drink or cake when they brought it in. The friendlies staff, laundry always clean for her too. I can not thank them enough.

Mum moved into the avenue in November 21 at the age of 89. There weren't many residents at the time, as it was newly opened, meant staff were only caring for a few residents in situ at the time. She is now 93, and even though the number of residents has increased, the care and attention to her needs
have never diminished. I believe that she thrives on the excellent care and support given by all members of staff. Always informed of any issues. We are truly lucky to entrust her to their excellent care and compassion. Can't speak highly of them enough. Thank you is all we can say.
Reply from Adrianna Mosur, Manager at The Avenue Nursing HomeIt's so lovely to hear how happy your mum is and how well she's looked after. The care and kindness she receives clearly make such a difference to her life, and it's wonderful to know she continues to thrive surrounded by such warmth and compassion. Even as the home has grown, it's clear that the attention and love from the team have never changed. It must be such a comfort knowing she's in the best possible hands, cared for by people who truly go above and beyond every day.
