I recently spent a week at Long Brook while my daughter had a much-needed holiday. This, being a new experience for me, at first, I felt a little lost. All the staff, however, were always smiling and helpful and by the end of the week I felt quite at home. I would like to think that if in time I should
need permanent care, there would be a room vacant at Long Brook.

Although my aunt was only at Longbrook for a short period of time, I cannot speak highly enough about all members of staff. The care is superb and the house and gardens are a delight.

This is a care home that certainly cares, not just for its residents but also for their families. The staff always have a smile for you and Mum constantly tells me how happy she is. There is a lovely atmosphere and a wide choice of activities to join in with. The Long Brock Residential Home has a lovely
home-from-home environment and I have no concerns about the standard of care that Mum receives.

My mum is cared for with care and respect. This consistency and attention have enabled her to feel "at home" within a safe environment, and I feel she thrives as best she can. The leadership team lead by example and participate in the home's friendly and fun aspects of activities which are topical and
seasonal. I would thoroughly recommend The Long Brook to any potential client and their families.

Mum was only at The Long Brook Residential Home for about 3 weeks and deteriorated very quickly and was moved to a nursing home specialising in dementia care. During her stay, she was exceptionally well cared for and I received a lot of advice from the home and associated pharmacist. I can’t speak too
highly of The Long Brook - excellent home all round and worthy of 5 stars.

Mum has been at Long Brook since December 2021. I can honestly say we couldn't have found a better home for our mum. Very caring, family-run home where nothing is too much trouble. Daily activities for the residents, excellent choice of menu and lovely presented gardens. All needs are met with kindness
and dignity from all staff members. I would recommend this home to anyone.

Mum arrived 28 days ago after 2 years of living on her own with carers coming in 4 times a day and hardly ever going out or seeing anyone. Her physical and mental health deteriorated rapidly and as a family, we made the decision to move her into a residential home near me. We looked very carefully for
somewhere we felt Mum would feel secure and happy and where the home would welcome her as part of their family. This we found in The Long Brook and Mum hasn't looked back. Almost immediately, we saw her improve immensely, from the initial warm welcome to the ongoing excellent care by friendly staff who have really befriended Mum. All her needs are catered for to a very high degree and she is actively encouraged to engage with all the wonderful events that take place every day, should she wish to. Mum, having been very reclusive, is now to be found chatting with other residents in one of the two comfortable sitting rooms, sharing meals with them, enjoying the garden and thoroughly enjoying the entertainment!
Reply from Paisley Radford, Registered Manager at The Long Brook Residential HomeThank you so much for your feedback. We are so pleased that Mum feels secure and happy here with us at The Long Brook. It is wonderful to see Mum interacting with our residents, staff and engaging in our activites.

I have nothing but praise for Long Brook Residential Home. The building is light and airy and well furnished. The garden is also very welcoming with space to work and sit. I found the staff extremely friendly towards the residents and to each other, which you could appreciate. Also, the residents were
welcoming, inviting you to sit with them and the activities gave interest to each day. Unfortunately, a diet problem, being gluten-free plus other food allergies I had, but I was catered for very well with the help of my daughters and the chef. If I needed a permanent home, I would not hesitate to ask for a room and hope they would accept me. Thank you. I feel stronger with your help and hopefully able to cope at home.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.693)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.693) out of 10 for The Long Brook Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.843 for The Long Brook Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (140 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 166 Ratings = 4.843
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Long Brook Residential Home is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
