Overall Experience

Our mother couldn't manage at home and due to family commitments, we could not help. We looked at 6 other care homes, so glad we chose Ward Green Lodge. The staff are amazing, one member of staff in particular goes above and beyond always informing us of my mother's progress. Management has been there to mop up my tears and offer lots of reassurance. Such an amazing place to live and has great activities.

Lack of communication between home and family. Some staff seemed uncaring and had bad attitudes, always seemed to be not enough staff, poor manager. Would not recommend this home if it was the last home standing.

After considering about placing our mother in a care home, we were so put at ease by the lovely caring staff that make the home. We were met by the managers who immediately put us at ease, we knew straight away. We had made the right decision. Mum is happy, she is now eating and mingling with other service users. Lots of food choices.

Moving Mum from the care setting she already had was hard. She had received excellent care in a community hospital setting (but this was no longer appropriate). But from the moment she moved into Ward Green Lodge, she loved it. Mum has a lovely room, the food is very good, it's very clean and most of all the staff treat Mum with dignity, care and a sense of humour. It's more than a care home, it's a home. They care for their residents and they are there for their family.

My auntie enjoyed 3 happy years in Ward Green Lodge. The care she received was loving, caring and respectful. The entertainment provided kept her stimulated and happy. She enjoyed 3 happy and memorable Birthdays including her 100th in March 2022.

The home kept us updated with any changes to my auntie's medication and well-being. The manager team and all staff were friendly and approachable, professional we could chat with them at any time. My auntie passed away on 28/12/22.

My wife's auntie was in Ward Green Lodge for three years and always received exceptional care from everyone concerned. She was always treated with love and respect by the care staff and I know she appreciated everything that was done for her. She died in December 2022 at the care home and once again the care staff were brilliant.

On visits, Mum always looks well cared for and looked after. She is enjoying the meals, having her hair done weekly and has started to join in on activities. The staff work hard, and nothing seems to be too much trouble. As a family member, they are always happy to answer any question and help in any way.

Due to Covid some aspects I am unable to comment on due to restrictions of entry to the care home. I have yet to see the room but now every effort is provided for safe contact. Discussions with carers are now more extended but would like to meet with other residents families and the home management. My wife is looked after well, clean, well-fed, hair, nails and clothing catered for.

Both my mother and father-in-law were residents from 2017. Ward Green provided exceptional care throughout their time. It never mattered when we visited, they were always immaculately turned out, hair tidy and clothes cleaned. We saw the same staff and there always seemed to be plenty of staff on hand, who knew the residents well. As a health care professional, I truly appreciated the end of life care provided, to ensure dignity and standards were maintained. I can't put a price on the care provided, it was outstanding.

My mother has been a resident at Ward Green Lodge for just over a year. The overall standard of care is very good. Occasionally it could be better. Mum is treated with respect at all times and is settled and happy. Staff are on the whole attentive, kind and caring, even when her behaviour can be challenging.

My mother has spent the past 5 months at Ward Green Lodge. When we first took Mom to Ward Green Lodge, we did not think she would last more than a week or two but due to the wonderful 24-hour care she has received, we have had several months with her to date. The staff are wonderful and so supportive of all my mother's needs and have also been a great support to me.

I can't speak highly enough of how everything is run. Doctors and nurses are called immediately if needed and I have never had any cause to worry that she is not getting everything she needs to keep her comfortable. All the staff take an interest in the residents and it just feels like one big family. I can't thank them all enough.

My mother has spent 3 very happy years at Ward Green Lodge. She has regularly said to me 'I hope, when you get to my age, that you are as lucky as me and have somewhere as good as Ward Green Lodge to live'.
As her dementia has worsened the staff and management have met all her needs with patience, care and love.
As she reaches the very end of her life they have extended this care and love to me.

I couldn't have chosen anywhere better. She has been treated with dignity right to the end. It has been a real home to her, giving her companionship and quality of life to the end.

I love visiting my sister at Ward Green.
She is always happy and smiling.
She always tells me how much she loves living in a 5-star hotel. The staff are always friendly and will always answer my questions. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them. The food always looks lovely. My sister never complains.

I would recommend to anyone.

I feel my brother is in a safe environment, looked after by very caring, capable staff. I have access to talk to all levels of staff with any issues I may have.
The issues are regarding my brother's health but I find the staff are already aware of these and have already taken action.

Very friendly staff and always feel welcome.

My husband was a resident for about 9 weeks for palliative care needing help in all aspects of daily care. Every single member of staff treated him with dignity, respect and loving care. They respected his views and preferences whilst ensuring his medical and personal care needs were met.
Not only did they care for him but they gave us, his family, the emotional support we needed. We were made to feel part of the Ward Green Lodge family and all staff (whether carers, cleaners, laundry staff, admin or management) certainly became part of our family. It was more like a VERY good hotel rather than a care home.

A big thank you to everyone at Ward Green Lodge for such a wonderful experience even though it was such a difficult time towards the end. We certainly could not have coped without their love, help and guidance. I would have NO hesitation whatsoever in recommending this excellent care home.

I visit my sister once a week at Ward Green Lodge. I always find her happy and relaxed. She is very well cared for. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The home itself has plenty of quiet lounges as well as a pub. My sister's room is spacious with a generous size bed. The patrons are well entertained and have a good events organiser. Overall, the home provides excellent care in all departments.

My mother had been a resident here for a few months and in this time her dementia developed but she still had long periods of lucidity. However her personality did change and she became quite rude and abrupt with staff. Mum also suffered with paranoia. All this was due to her worsening dementia. Some staff seemed to think Mum was just being difficult. It was not their job to make their comments to family members. I felt that my mum was not given the benefit of the doubt and was seen to be a 'difficult customer'.
