My parents have just moved into Barton Mews Care Home and our early impressions are excellent. From our first viewing of flats through to moving in, all staff have been wonderful, treating my parents with kindness and dignity. The culture established by the manager and team is clearly one of getting
to know residents well and understanding their different needs. There is a clear determination to move forward, following the limitations imposed by Covid, and to restart a programme of more activities and opportunities for residents to meet and interact. The facilities are immaculate and well-maintained. The meals in the restaurant smell delicious and staff going round to take meal orders in the mornings makes it so easy for residents to get the food they enjoy. Little things, like the figure of the soldier on the external wall to commemorate remembrance, really make the facility feel like part of the community. Above all, I am already totally confident that my parents will be safe, secure and well supported at the Mews which has removed a huge stress from my family.

I would recommend Barton Mews to anyone looking for a home where they will be safe and genuinely cared for. The staff go the extra mile for all of the residents, especially in this year's hot summer. I can rest assured that my mum can live independently but with someone on hand if needed - 24/7. Thank
you, Barton Mews!

My mum had lived independently until the age of 90 when she began to suffer with ill health and needed some help. She moved to Barton Mews at the age of 94 and it is the best thing we ever did. Although she moved away from her friends, she soon made new ones and participated in activities that she enjoyed.
I cannot speak highly enough of the staff who were always kind, caring, helpful and respectful particularly when mum came home after several bouts in hospital. They work exceptionally hard to provide a cheerful and happy environment.

During my mother's residence at Barton Mews, she has been looked after well by friendly caring staff. COVID has brought many problems for all of us but I felt mum was safe. Many thanks to all the staff.

Excellent care during the pandemic and before taking every step possible to keep everyone safe. The concierge team are always polite and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Consistency is key, "Mum does not like change". (The problems for us arose when care went to an outside agency. We needed double
up calls which were difficult to accommodate initially).

Barton Mews is being refurbished at the moment. I have settled, happily, into my flat. I have it the way I want it and it is comfortable and warm. It is good to know that someone is available at all times and the staff are friendly and helpful. I look after myself and find the kitchen adequate for my
needs, though the high shelves can not be reached by me. There are few activities going on at the moment because of Covid but I'm impressed by the way we were protected from the virus making sure we were all safe from the beginning of lockdown.

We needed mum to move out of her bungalow into an extra care apartment to make life easier for her. She was also near to family in Barton Under Needwood. Staff always friendly and professional. Mum felt safe and happy at Barton Mews. Covid restrictions always adhered to. Activities ceased due to Covid
mum missed mixing with residents and activities.

Lovely caring environment. Residents maintain their own independence whilst having support of a caring team available 24/7. Fun activities happening throughout the week, bingo, fashion shows to name just a few. Restaurant available with lovely food either to eat in or have delivered to your apartment.
All in all a great place to retire and relax, you deserve it.

Very good atmosphere, excellent staff, restaurant, hairdresser, hobby room and IT facilities.
Ideal for a restful retirement if you have a car there are plenty of spaces.
One further facility which should not be overlooked is the location of the surgery on the ground floor.

We were apprehensive to make a move, no longer the degree of independence but with first call concern and carer have met our need exactly. The staff at the root of this, caring, experienced and thoughtful. The facilities are well maintained and clean

Excellent residential retirement apartment, thankfully little entertainment deemed suitable for the elderly! This is not a care home, though assistance is available and most willingly given. Common rooms are tired and rather dull and dated, lack of new residents perhaps due to the virus and many similar
facilities being built in nearby towns - I believe that monthly fees here compare unfavourably with similar places.
However, I am very content here - comfortable and caring.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.950) out of 10 for Barton Mews is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Extra Care Housing is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.950 for Barton Mews is calculated as follows: ( (115 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 120 Ratings = 4.95
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

    5 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months: 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.5 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews. (1st = 3, 2nd = 0.5, 3rd = 0.5, 4th = 0.5, 5th = 0.5)

The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Barton Mews is based on 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.5 = 5
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Extra Care Housing does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
