Braunton is a beautiful and fascinating village and civil parish located on the North Devon coast, 6 miles from the region’s commercial and administrative centre, Barnstaple. The village sits at the base of a valley flanked between West Hill, Chapel Hill and East Hill and is centred on the main A361 road link between Barnstaple and Ilfracombe. Braunton has the reputation of being the ‘largest village in England’. This is not actually true, though it does have the highest population of all villages in England at approximately 10,000 residents.
Today, residents at Tyspane Care Home that used to live in Braunton village went on a long walk around the village. Visiting places from earlier in their lives can retrieve memories that have not been recalled for many years. Such memories come back vividly and in detail. The conversations that took place in the Quay Café Braunton were full of detail, history and emotion. Fun was had by all.
