102-Year-Old Cynthia Welcomes Dutch Students on Village Life Visit
A wonderful intergenerational meeting took place today at The Anchorage, as two students from Calvijn College in the Netherlands made a special visit as part of their school project exploring village life and the experiences of older generations.
Annelin and Lynn are currently travelling through the UK to learn more about life in rural communities, including the role of older residents and the history they carry. As part of their assignment, they set out to meet some of the oldest members of a village community.
Their visit could not have been better timed. Cynthia celebrated her 102nd birthday today and was delighted to spend time with the students. During their visit, Cynthia shared her memories of life during the war, as well as her experiences of living in Pulborough over the years.
The meeting offered a unique opportunity for the students to gain first-hand insight into the past, while also highlighting the strong sense of community that defines village life in Pulborough today.
“It was a pleasure to welcome Annelin and Lynn,” said Kate our Community Engagement Manager. “They were polite, engaged, and genuinely interested in learning about village life. We are very proud to be part of the Pulborough community and to support opportunities that bring generations together.”
The visit was a memorable experience for all involved, celebrating both the richness of local history and the value of connecting across generations.
