The Burlington Raises £300 for Children’s Hospice

The Burlington Care Home welcomed the Shepperton team from Shooting Star Children’s Hospices on Tuesday 13th May for a pop-up shop that filled the home’s reception with pre-loved clothes, toys and gifts, and a good deal of generosity.

Residents, family members and local visitors spent the afternoon browsing the stalls, with the proceeds going directly to Shooting Star’s work supporting children with life-limiting conditions and their families across Surrey and South West London.

The Burlington donated a Fortnum & Mason hamper as the raffle prize. One of the home’s residents drew the winning ticket. The raffle raised £300 on its own.

Margielyn Gonzaga, Home Manager at The Burlington, said, “Days like this remind me why we do what we do. Our residents aren’t just here to be cared for. They want to contribute, to feel part of something. Seeing one of our residents draw the winning ticket, knowing the money goes to local children and families who need it most, that’s what community actually looks like.”

Kirsty, Admissions Manager at The Burlington, added, “It was such a wonderful day to have the team from Shepperton Shooting Star Children’s Hospice join us. There was a real sense of community and we are proud to support such an important cause. Being part of the community and helping where we can matters deeply to us here at The Burlington.”

The event is the latest in a series of community initiatives run by The Burlington, which regularly opens its doors to local organisations and charities as part of its commitment to being an active part of life in Shepperton.
