A painting by late Kynnaird House Care Home resident Betty Milne has been chosen to feature on Meallmore’s limited-edition Father’s Day whisky label.

Betty’s artwork, which shows Fraserburgh’s famous Wine Tower, was selected as the winning design after receiving 77% of the public vote. The label now appears on “Drammie”, Meallmore’s second limited-edition whisky bottle created to mark Father’s Day.

The competition invited residents, colleagues, families and friends from across Meallmore’s 27 care homes in Scotland to submit artwork for the label. A total of 30 entries were received, with more than 1,000 votes cast.

Betty lived at Kynnaird House Care Home in Fraserburgh with her husband David, who still lives at the home. She loved painting and created a number of pieces during the Covid-19 pandemic, some of which she gifted to colleagues at Kynnaird House.

Her winning painting was entered into the competition after Senior Carer Deborah Whyte recognised how special it was and asked Betty’s family for permission to submit it.

David was presented with the first bottle at a special celebration at Kynnaird House, joined by family, friends, residents and colleagues. The team also visited the lighthouse with David before the event, taking in the view that inspired Betty’s painting.

Roselle Alberto, Care Home Manager at Kynnaird House, said the bottle was a lovely tribute to Betty, her family, the home and the wider Fraserburgh community.

She said the team were proud to share Betty’s painting and felt she would have been thrilled to see it recognised in this way.

Cillian Hennessey, CEO of Meallmore, said the group was delighted to bring the whisky label competition back for a second year after its success in 2025.

He said Betty’s painting was the standout winner and thanked David and Betty’s family for allowing Meallmore to share her work.

Betty’s winning bottle will be displayed at Meallmore’s head office in Inverness alongside last year’s winning design by John Picken from Leven Beach Care Home in Fife.

Residents across Meallmore’s homes will also be invited to enjoy a dram with loved ones on Father’s Day, making Betty’s artwork part of celebrations across Scotland.
