Hays House awarded Veteran friendly status

Hays House has achieved the standards required for the Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF), becoming one of only 300 care homes in England to receive this recognition out of more than 15,000 nationwide. The framework is designed to improve the practical, emotional and social support available to Armed Forces veterans living in residential care homes. To gain Veteran Friendly status, the Hays House team met eight key standards, including recording Armed Forces status in care plans, addressing social isolation, and connecting residents with support organisations such as the Royal British Legion and other veteran charities. The initiative aims to reduce loneliness and improve the health and wellbeing of veterans in care settings. As part of its ongoing commitment, Hays House plans to host monthly coffee mornings for veteran residents and members of the local veteran community. These gatherings will provide a welcoming environment where veterans can share experiences and build friendships. Hays House would like to thank the East Knoyle branch of the Royal British Legion for its support and ideas on developing the programme further.
