Park View Care Centre Celebrates ‘Good’ CQC Rating Across All Areas Following Inspiring Journey of Improvement

The team at Park View Care Centre in Ashford is celebrating after receiving a ‘Good’ rating across all areas following its latest inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Led by award-winning General Manager Darren Humby, the home has undergone a remarkable journey focused on strengthening quality, building meaningful community connections, and creating a positive culture for residents, families, and staff alike.

Inspectors praised the home’s welcoming atmosphere, leadership, and person-centred approach, highlighting how people were supported to make choices, maintain independence, and feel respected within the home. The report noted that Park View had created a “shared vision, strategy and culture” based on dignity, inclusion, engagement and understanding the needs of residents and their families.

Feedback included warm comments from residents and relatives, with one person telling inspectors: “It’s a good place. I would put someone I love in this home.” Another relative shared: “There’s a small table near reception where they put small plates of the day’s choices, for my relative this means he can make proper choices himself.”

The report also recognised the home’s cleanliness, safe environment, and supportive team culture. Inspectors found the service to be well maintained, homely and welcoming, with residents benefiting from personalised bedrooms and comfortable communal areas.

Under Darren’s leadership, Park View Care Centre has become increasingly visible within the local community. Over the past year, the home has strengthened partnerships and hosted a wide range of initiatives designed to support local people and raise awareness around care and wellbeing.

This has included fundraising and awareness work for the Salvation Army, sponsorship of Ashford FC, regular community cafés, dementia awareness events, and building stronger relationships with local organisations and healthcare professionals.

Darren, who has also been recognised nationally for his leadership and invited to judge the Great British Care Awards, said:

“This rating reflects the hard work, kindness and dedication shown by the entire team at Park View every single day. The focus has always been about creating a home where residents can truly flourish, families feel reassured, and staff feel valued and supported.

We’ve worked incredibly hard to build a positive culture within the home and meaningful relationships within the wider community. To see that recognised by CQC is something everyone should feel very proud of.”

The CQC inspection also highlighted the strength of leadership within the home, noting staff felt motivated, supported and listened to. One staff member told inspectors: “He knows how to motivate and support us to deliver good care.”
