Reviews

9.3 Park View Care Centre has a Review Score of 9.3 (9.349)

The Review Score of 9.3 (maximum of 10) for Park View Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 20 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Park View Care Centre in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.349 for Park View Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (111 Excellents x 5) + (102 Goods x 4) + (22 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 238 Ratings = 4.349

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Park View Care Centre is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 17.6 positive Reviews (88 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 19 Reviews ÷ 17.6 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Staff seem friendly and caring. Particularly pleased with entertainment; whenever I phone or visit mum I interrupt her in the middle of something eg. concert, scrabble or just being in the garden. Both parents seem happy and well treated.

My mum came in with grade four plus sores. The home has been caring, honest, helpful and very supportive. I could not have asked for anything better. My dad is also in Park View and has been so much better since he came in.

Mum lived in Park View Home for 6yrs and was very settled. Unfortunately after a very short illness of seven weeks, Mum passed away on July 3rd. I visited on June 22nd, I had been going daily for weeks. Mum seemed to be so poorly. On the 22nd of June, I was told I could stay. This was a comfort for Mum, me and my family. I can't thank the staff enough, they were truly amazing. Family were made welcome, carers, nurses, cleaners, laundry, entertainment and management supported me at a difficult time. I would not have coped without the wonderful people at Park View, they showed care and respect to my lovely mum. Often people moan about care homes. I wanted to let people know how amazing, human, caring and supportive the home really is and to give thanks from the bottom of my heart.
I miss my mum so much although have some comfort knowing how well cared for Mum was in such a lovely home. Mum could not swallow due to her Parkinsons and was on a purree diet. The kitchen made a great effort. I am still missing my mum so very much, I am devastated.

Following recent changes in management, Park View has continued to improve from an already reasonably high standard. In the seven and a half years I have been associated with the nursing home, there has never been cause for serious complaint. Recent positive steps have been towards residents entertainment and more inclusion of relatives input into care, food and communication. All staff are approachable, willing to listen and react when necessary in a positive way.

I cannot praise the staff at Park View highly enough. My Dad was there for 18 months, and during the first 8 months our Mum was still alive, and she visited daily, often being asked to stay for refreshments etc. so that they were still treated as a couple. After she passed away, the nurses, cleaning staff all did their very best to bridge the gap in his loss. All the staff were very patient with him when he couldn't understand where our Mum was and why she wasn't visiting. Their care and devotion during his final days surpassed anything we could have expected and allowed our Dad to spend his last days in what had become his home. We often would hear the nurses speaking to him with affection and always with respect so that he maintained a dignity even in his passing.

The nurses were kindness itself to his family were always on hand to give us sympathy and understanding, they supported us during a very difficult time. God Bless.

My mother has been in nursing since December 2015, I visit weekly. My mother is always in her room and in a wheelchair. She only sees support workers whilst carrying out their care duties. She can have no contact or communication with other residents as they too are kept in their rooms. The home has had numerous managers within the last three years and constant staffing problems. Hopefully, the newly appointed manager will turn the home around.

Jackie Cridlin, Sales & Marketing Manager at Park View Care Centre responded to this review on 11 May 2017:

Having had the opportunity to speak to the family regarding feedback, we have been able to share our resident of the day review which commences in June. It was already identified on our action plan which was shared with our residents grandson and he was pleased that this had already been addressed. As the manager of the home, I was pleased that all other areas of the home and care was positive for the family.

Although there have been changes during this past year, the whole staff at Park View Care Centre have maintained a cheerful and comfortable home for my Mother and the other residents. I have felt reassured by the efforts of a care and dedicated team.

The service has been used since August 2012, and there is always a welcome when visits are made which ensures the feeling of participation in the care required. The expected deterioration of our family member has been dealt with excellently. Daily personal care has been attended to very well indeed, always in a kind and protective way. Medical needs have also been very well managed, and liaison with relatives has always been instantaneous.

Daily menu choices are various and look very appetising, and all residents appear to enjoy their meals. For those residents who are feeling a bit off-colour, the carer's are always prepared to suggest a lighter option which would often be served outside of dedicated mealtimes. The cleanliness of bedrooms and communal rooms is very good, but it has been noticed that at weekends only one member of the cleaning team is on duty on each floor, which sometimes compromises the effectiveness.

Overall, there are very few negatives in this care home.

I have always had pleasant dealing with the staff when I have visited and am quite well informed of any appointments that are due and attend most of them, but I know they do send staff when required with only the odd hiccup when informing me of an odd appointment. Information about any problems with my mum is normally passed on to me for when I attend appointments so mum can get the best steps forward

I cannot say how well my mother-in-law has been cared for at Park View. The friendly and hard-working staff have cared for her extremely well. Their prompt action with my mother-in-law was excellent. The ambulance crew also praised their prompt action.

I attend Park View Care Centre normally once a week to visit my elderly brother who suffers from dementia. I have found the service there friendly and helpful to myself and my brother. I have noticed an improvement over the past year in the service to my brother and in respect of my part in it as his next of kin.

My mother is in the nursing wing with dementia since December 2016.
I moved her from another nursing home to be closer to me.
Mum settled in very well and is happy.
I visit her every two days at different times of day.
She appears to be well cared for.
