My mother was at Park View for over 4 years. Initially, the experience was not so good, and she had several falls, had to go to A&E, and this set her back. Management at the time was weak, but she was well cared for by the staff. There was a subsequent high turnover in the manager position, but this
stabilised and the current post holder is doing an excellent job. Throughout my mum's stay, the staff have been kind and loving. At the end, the experience was exceptional, and the kindness and support I received was overwhelming.

We are so pleased that we chose Park View Care Home for our brother's care. All of the staff are caring and seem to remember everyone's name. He always seemed to be very happy there, which was such a relief to us as a family. When he was on end-of-life care, we stayed with him constantly with lots of
family visiting. Everyone was so lovely, even offering us good food and drinks.
Reply from Abigail Draper, Customer Relations Team at Park View Care CentreThank you for your kind and heartfelt review. My wife has been a resident at Park View Care Centre for over a year. I am very pleased with the care and attention she has received in that time. The management, nursing and caring staff are very friendly and keep her amused. The food is excellent, just like home-cooked. Her room is regularly cleaned
and well-maintained. The room overlooks the garden, so she is able to watch the birds and squirrels foraging in the garden.
Reply from Abigail Draper, Customer Relations Team at Park View Care CentreThank you for your kind and thoughtful review. We're so pleased to hear that your wife has been happy and well cared for, and that you've been pleased with the support from our team. I cannot praise the staff enough at Ashford Park View Care Home. From the manager down to maintenance, cooks, cleaners, carers, office staff and entertainment crew, they all work so hard to make it a lovely home for the residents. My mother-in-law was happy there from the time she walked in the door.
Excellently run, and bright and airy.

A wonderfully caring and supportive environment led by a truly committed and thoroughly professional manager whose high standards and expectations clearly permeate the whole home and its staff.
The improvement in my brother's mental and emotional wellbeing whilst at the centre was a joy to see. I
wouldn't hesitate to recommend it here - definitely a 'home that cares' rather than just a care home.

My aunt was only with you for seven weeks but the care and dignity given was exemplary from the receptionist right through to the manager, including the handyman and domestics. I felt very comfortable leaving my loved one at Park View. Her final days went as well as they could, and the care and compassion
and dignity displayed to both myself and my aunt could not be more comforting. Every need was met timely and courteously

My wife was having a poor experience finding other residents in her room when she returned from activities. This was a set back to her well being as she had only recently been taking part in the fantastic and varied activities provided. This was quickly resolved by trusting her with her own door key.
This
illustrates the kindness and helpfulness that we have been shown since my wife moved in to the dementia unit in January.
Every member of staff (and I really mean every) we have ever come into contact with has shown us nothing but kindness.

My mum has only been in Park View Care Centre for 6 weeks. She was staying in a home before that for three years. The place itself is very nicely laid out with its own bistro where you can go have coffee, cakes and even a glass of wine. I have a feeling with the place when visiting that it has a tranquil
atmosphere which gives you a nice relaxing mode. When my mum first went in she was uneasy but in the last two weeks she has settled down and it's been a long time since I have seen her smile, which she has been doing lately, she just seems relaxed not so anxious. My mum is encouraged to join in the activities, Enjoys going to the restaurant for lunch and dinner The staff and manager who are willing to work with you. I would recommend this place even if you just come and have a look.
My mum has vascular dementia and Alzheimer's and does not walk now so a lot of care is needed and I believe she is getting that care.

My mother was put onto end of life pathway in January. The staff thoroughly explained what this meant. Over the next few weeks all of the staff on oak helped my mum, caring for her kindly and making sure she was comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble. Mum was offered her favourite food to tempt her
to eat. She has hand massages to relax her and staff went into her room more regularly to offer any help or support she wanted. It was the best care given kindly and with compassion.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.658)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.658) out of 10 for Park View Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 41 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.658 for Park View Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (367 Excellents x 5) + (87 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (12 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 480 Ratings = 4.658
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Park View Care Centre is based on 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 88 registered maximum number of service users is 17.6, which has been reached with 40 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

'A part of my role which I like is setting families minds at rest and that they have done what is best for a relative. The guilt people feel at placing loved ones in care can be huge! When they see their relative settled and happy it brings them a great deal of peace and it makes me feel proud that our team has helped them.'

Karen is also proud to be part of team who respect and care for each other.

When she is not at work Karen enjoys reading, she also loves ABBA and dancing. Most importantly, Karen loves spending time with her grand children who keep her very busy!
