My wife, who suffers with late-stage Dementia, was transferred from Hawkinge House to Park View Ashford, after an assessment. From the very start, the manager was very welcoming and reassuring. She introduced me to the staff and nurses who are tasked with my wife's care. I have been very impressed with
all the staff and their willingness to help together with kindness toward the residents.

My mother has been in the care home for over 4 years. All the staff have been caring and supportive of my mother's needs and giving family support. Recently, circumstances have changed with my mother's health which has deteriorated and I appreciate all the help and support given by all members of staff
from the kitchen to the general manager. I am confident that when I am not at the home, which I visit frequently, my mum is in good hands and treated like family.
Reply from Sia Lebbie, Marketing Executive at Park View Care CentreDear Denise, thank you so much for sharing your experience. We are truly touched by your kind words. It has been our privilege to care for your mother over these past four years and we are glad to hear that our team has provided the care and support both your mother and your family have needed. We understand how difficult it can be when a loved one's health changes and we are here to support you every step of the way.

Mum has been a resident at Park View since January 2024. The home is always clean and tidy with a very welcoming feel. I have nothing but praise for all the staff. Everyone is so helpful and friendly, but most importantly, the care Mum has received is outstanding. There are lots of activities to keep
residents occupied. Events like Valentine's, Afternoon Tea and Mother's Day lunch allow families to still celebrate together. I am so pleased I chose Park View, as it is lovely to have peace of mind and to see Mum happy and well cared for. I would highly recommend Park View Care Centre.
Reply from Sia Lebbie, Reviews Team at Park View Care CentreThank you for your lovely review of our home. Staff are friendly and helpful, the home has regular entertainment, food is varied and of a good quality. I feel the home is really trying to improve things for the residents and their families... but let’s be clear, this is a care home not a holiday camp and as far as my father's care is concerned
he is very well cared for, all his medical needs are met and we feel he is in a very safe environment.
Reply from Sia Lebbie, Reviews Team at Park View Care CentreDear K, Thank you for sharing your positive experience with us. We appreciate your kind words about our team and the services we offer here at Orchard House Care Home. It's reassuring to hear that you recognise the efforts the home is making to enhance the well-being of residents and their families. We are committed to providing the best possible care for residents, and your feedback is invaluable to us. Thank you for entrusting us with your father's care.

The company is very helpful and kind and always welcome everyone, we know where we stand with our relative and always have the meeting and have a chat with the staff. Whenever we come to visit Grandad appears happy listening to his jazz music. The staff are approachable and welcoming, Grandad enjoys
coming to the activities both in-house and family events. We all enjoyed the fish and chip supper and the coffee mornings.
Reply from Abigail Draper, Customer Relations Team at Park View Care CentreThank you for taking the time to leave a review about the home. My biggest regret was having my partner go here. I can't tell you how many safeguarding was raised. I lost count where I raised so many. It was a nightmare from start to finish. No one knew what the other one was doing. One incident of many I came to visit and my partners eye was swollen and closed.
I went to find a nurse which said the doctor was still in the building and she would send him to have a look. When he came I said my partner has a eye infection he looked at my partner and said which eye. I just couldn't believe it my partners eye was very swollen you couldn't miss but see it. That was just one of many incidents, a lot which they couldn't explain especially when it came to bruising. If you're thinking of sending a loved one here please do your homework. I do know if I could have my choice again this place wouldn't be on my radar.
Reply from Melanie Powell, General Manager at Park View Care CentreWe are really sorry that you felt let down by the care and support your loved one received whilst living at Park View. We remain committed to delivering the highest standards of care to all our residents and would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you further so we can learn and improve.

My mum has been at Park View since October 2022. The care and attention she receives is outstanding and they look after her needs well. Unfortunately she is palliative; the receptionist and clinical lead nurse have kept me updated and informed throughout her time there, whether this is for admin or
for updates to her care plan. The carers and the cleaners are extremely hard working and nothing is too much bother for them. I couldn't ask for a better place for my mum to spend her final days.

Highly recommend anyone with loved ones to educate yourself before using any care home. Specifically the expected inspection report. In the meantime, the first tier care standards tribunal document can be located on a government website.
I would not recommend or trust with my loved ones. And at the
present time they have been legally prevented from any admissions without exceptional permission by the government agency CQC.
This review is made solely with the intent that those privately funded, are aware of the above. So they can be informed and show vigilance if required for their very vulnerable loved ones. These are all facts. I am sorry if it causes concern, but I’d rather service users / their loved ones know - I wish I had.
Reply from Abigail Draper, Customer Relations Team at Park View Care CentreThank you for your feedback. We appreciate all feedback provided and value the opportunity to respond.

As illustrated from reviews on multiple media platforms, our team at Parkview remain dedicated to providing person-centred care, tailored to each individual. We are sorry to hear that this was not your experience on this occasion.

My nan has been a resident at Park View for over a year now. She has dementia and is on the dementia unit. I cannot thank the staff at Parkview enough for the fantastic care they give my nan. She was not coping at home, even with a full care package and family support. Since being at Park View, my nan
is so much happier. She has become much less agitated, and it feels like we have a little bit of Nan back. All the staff are amazing, they go above and beyond, not only for my nan but for us the family as well. Park View organise lots of activities and entertainment for the residents and my nan loves joining in. She also really enjoys the little trips out, especially when it involves going out for a cup of tea. The meals provided are of high quality and full of fresh vegetables, my nan loves them. My nan is very happy there and as a family we know she is getting the best of care.
Thank you to all the staff at Park View for becoming part of our family. You are all amazing.

I would like to thank the care and support of the team that looked after my dad in those final weeks/days.
It meant a lot to me and my brother.
I visited straight after work every day.
Dad was comfortable most of the time.
He was subbed and kept climbing out of bed because of confusion and the
dignity of not wanting to relax and have accidents.
You did treat this with the highest possible respect and dignity.
Dad loved the view he had of the gardener mowing the grass and the wildlife, giving the birds and squirrels a biscuit.
Thank you.

At the height of the Covid pandemic, recently widowed, my mother was admitted (without our immediate knowledge) to Park View. Initially, no visit was permitted, then later, only with full PPE. This was understandably a bewildering and distressing time for her. In the subsequent seven months until her
death, her emotional and physical state turned around completely and she died very content and well cared for by members of the Park View community. The dedicated and delightful staff at Park View take every step possible to entertain and socialise the residents and we cannot thank them enough for what they did.

Mum was in the care of Park View for about a year following hospitalisation after a series of falls caused by an underlying condition.
The staff team were always caring and professional and understood mum's specific needs. She had access to the district nurse and a visiting GP as part of her continuing
care in addition to access to appointments with a chiropodist and hairdresser when she wanted to look and feel her best for herself or visitors.
Mum has recently moved to an alternative placement to be closer to friends and family, but I would like to thank all of the staff at Park View for their commitment to making mum's stay with them comfortable and caring.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.726)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.726) out of 10 for Park View Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 42 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.726 for Park View Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (376 Excellents x 5) + (98 Goods x 4) + (17 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 492 Ratings = 4.726
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Park View Care Centre is based on 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 88 registered maximum number of service users is 17.6, which has been reached with 42 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

'A part of my role which I like is setting families minds at rest and that they have done what is best for a relative. The guilt people feel at placing loved ones in care can be huge! When they see their relative settled and happy it brings them a great deal of peace and it makes me feel proud that our team has helped them.'

Karen is also proud to be part of team who respect and care for each other.

When she is not at work Karen enjoys reading, she also loves ABBA and dancing. Most importantly, Karen loves spending time with her grand children who keep her very busy!
