At Darcy Gardens, community engagement is a key part of our commitment to enriching lives and building meaningful relationships. Over recent months, we have attended a wide range of networking events, conferences, wellbeing initiatives and community gatherings, strengthening our connections across Bath and North East Somerset. Community engagement has two important dimensions. Firstly, it enables us to create opportunities for residents to remain connected to the wider community, continuing to enjoy hobbies, interests and meaningful relationships. Secondly, it allows us to develop partnerships with local organisations, healthcare professionals, charities, educational providers and businesses, creating valuable opportunities for collaboration, support and referrals. Recent events have included Bath Radio Business Breakfasts, networking at Bath City Farm, International Women’s Day celebrations with Bath Rugby Foundation, Dementia Awareness Conferences, Let’s Talk Dementia events, Community Wellbeing Hub partnerships, and meetings with local councillors, community leaders and charitable organisations. These events have introduced us to a diverse range of people and organisations, including Bath College, Bath BID, Bath Echo, Dorothy House Hospice Care, Bath & North East Somerset Wellness Service, Dementia Friendly Peasedown, community libraries, local charities and specialist dementia professionals. A recurring theme throughout these events has been the importance of collaboration. Whether discussing dementia care, wellbeing initiatives, inclusion, skills development, community support or healthy ageing, each opportunity has reinforced the value of organisations working together to improve outcomes for local people. The knowledge gained through conferences and educational events also directly benefits our residents. Learning from dementia specialists, nutrition experts, healthcare professionals and community advocates helps us continually develop our person-centred approach and ensure residents receive the highest quality care and support. At the same time, networking and partnership-building help us create exciting opportunities within the home. New connections can lead to guest speakers, intergenerational projects, volunteer involvement, educational workshops, community events and activities that enrich daily life for residents. Through every event we attend, we proudly represent Darcy Gardens while strengthening our role as an active member of the local community. The Benefits of Community Engagement ??
