Very good contact between staff and family. Even after a severe stroke they are giving very good care as Mother-in-law is totally bedridden and cannot speak or do anything for herself.

A very well run home part of the Barchester group. Accommodation and amenities very good; staff (some who have over 20 years experience) particularly seniors, are well trained, to paramedic standard. My 92 year old wife 95% blind and suffering from benign dementia and almost total loss of memory retention has very good treatment from all grades of staff. Hope to join her when I (also 92) can't cope any longer!

My mother suffers from Dementia and is often very confused. The staff all show great care for her welfare and nothing is ever too much trouble to ensure her happiness. The staff are fully committed within their time constraints and are to be commended in their tireless efforts to ensure the residents are well looked after. The attention to detail make Hickathrift a 'home' for residents, it is excellent and the facilities provided are numerous. The staff at Hickathrift can be very proud that they are making the remaining years of someone's life as happy and comfortable as could possibly be provided. Thank you for your commitment to my mum, our family are indebted to you.

I feel I know the home very well because I have been visiting the home on a regualr basis for nearly fourteen years orginally for my mother and for my mentally and physicaly disabled sister who is still there. My husband's father had a brief spell there and his mother spent a bit over two years there. Please see below.
